Loved You First (Sequel to Simon's Daughter)

Chapter 1

*(3 years later)*
Julia’s POV:
“GRANDPA!” Lexi screamed, jumping into my father’s arms. He was down here in Los Angeles because he was working on the X Factor. He laughed at her excitement, and picked her up kissing the top of her head.

“How are you, sweetheart?” He asked smiling.

“Grandpa, how come I don’t talk like mommy?” She asked, tilting her head to the side and completely ignoring his question. This caused me to laugh a little and same with my father.

“It’s because you didn’t grow up where your mum did.” He answered her, hoping she understood.

“Why not?” She asked again. Lexi could ask questions all day.

“Because your mum decided to stay in America, which is where you are currently growing up.” He gave her a smile before setting her back down.

“Where are you from, mommy?” She turned to me.

“I’m from London, babe.” I knew she wouldn’t completely understand, but it was good enough for her.

“Okay, well I better get going. I can’t be late for the first day!” He smiled at the two of us while I picked Lexi up.

“Okay, we were just stopping by to say hey.” I said as we both walked towards the door.

“Bye grandpa!” Lexi smiled sweetly at him and kissed his cheek.

“Goodbye, love.” He said to Lexi. “Bye, sweetheart.” He said to me, hugging me. I hugged back and waved as Lexi and I walked out of the door to the car. I eventually got a car so Christa didn’t have to drive me or I didn’t have to catch a cab. I opened the car door, and Lexi crawled into her car seat.

“No, mommy! I can do it by myself.” She swatted my hand away when I was about to buckle her up. I sighed and shut her door once she was settled and all buckled up. I walked over to the driver’s side and got in, buckling up. Before I took off, my phone buzzed and I received a text message.

Christa: Matt is here. Where are you?
Me: On my way home right now!

“Lexi there’s someone waiting for you at home.” I said smiling at her through the rearview mirror.

“Really, who!?” She asked squirming in her car seat.

“You’re just going to have to wait and see!” I said laughing to myself.

When we finally got back home, I opened Lexi’s car door and saw that she was already unbuckled. She ran right up to the front door and waited for me to unlock it. I smiled locking the car doors, and walking up to the front door. When I opened it, she rushed inside to see Matt standing there with a big smile.

“UNCLE MATT!” She yelled, running up to him. He chuckled and picked her up. Lexi absolutely adored Matt, and he was always so good with her. Matt has been there since Lexi was born and she refers to him as her uncle. He even picks her up from pre-school when I have to work.

I still model, but I haven’t been doing what I used to do to my body. I just eat very healthy, and go to the gym. That way, I can still maintain the weight I need to, without doing any harm to my body. I’m very well known here in Los Angeles, so I do still get some paparazzi but not nearly as many as other celebrities. I decided to keep Lexi unknown from the paparazzi due to safety reasons. I didn’t want anything happening to my little girl. I also didn’t want people asking who the father was. I knew for a fact who her father was without having to run paternity tests or anything because of Lexi’s eyes. Not to mention some of her facial features. She looked just like him.

“Lexi don’t yell.” I said, raising my eyebrows at her. I’ve told her this millions of times, yet she continues to do it.

“How are you squirt?” Matt asked while tickling her. She giggled and pushed his hand away.

“I want some ice cweam!” She made a funny face at Matt causing him to laugh. I swear he has the same maturity level as her sometimes.

“Yes, let’s go get some ice cream!” Christa said, walking in the room.

“Where did you come from?” I asked, laughing slightly at her random entrance.

“My mom, which is your aunt’s v---“ She started but I couldn’t let her finish her sentence in front of my three year-old.

“Okay, I get it.” I said interrupting her. She and Matt just laughed, and being Lexi, she laughed too, not understanding what was going on. I smiled at my baby girl. I had to admit, it was a kind of challenge raising her on my own, but I still had Christa and Matt helping me.

“Ice cweam!” Lexi said again. I sighed and gave in.

“Okay, come on.” I rolled my eyes sighing and giving in. Before I could make my way to the door, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out, looking at the text message I received.

Dad: I have someone who wants to see you. I need you down here!

I had no idea who suddenly had the urge to see me, but I guess I should go.

“Do you guys mind taking Lexi? My father said there was someone who wanted to see me.” I shrugged my shoulders. I saw Christa and Matt give each other a quick glance, and then look back at me.

“Of course no problem.” Matt said, as he and Christa walked towards the door. I rolled my eyes at their strange behavior, and left behind them.

When I arrived, I saw my dad’s personal assistant and she recognized me immediately.

“Hello Ms. Cowell. Your father is waiting in his dressing room.” She walked away with a smile, and I made my way to his dressing room. I knocked before entering, and I could hear him talking to someone, but I couldn’t make out the voice.

“Come in.” He replied. When I opened the door, the person who he was talking to turned around, looking straight at me. My eyes widened a little, shocked at who stood before me. Why would this person want to see me? I gulped and wanted to turn back and run away but my feet stayed glued to the floor.

“L-Liam…?” I gasped. After three whole years, Liam was standing in front of me. “Why are you here?” I asked nervously.

“I’m here to see you.” He said almost in a whisper. I could feel my eyes start to water. I missed him so much, but I thought it would be better if I stayed away from all of them.

“Why?” I asked again.

“I’ve missed you. I tried calling you and texting you but you never responded or called back. I know it’s been a few years, but I still do care about you. Then when I tried calling again, your phone wasn’t in service and I knew you got a new number. When I found out we were coming down here for a few things, I needed to see you. And Simon helped me with that.” I wanted to walk up to him and throw my arms around him as he hugged me back and comforted me, and said that everything would be okay. Like old times. But I couldn’t walk into his life. The other boys still hate me and…Lexi. I couldn’t tell him about Lexi.

Harry’s POV:
The boys and I were in Los Angeles for a month because we had a few things to do down here. After we finished, we had three weeks off, so we just decided to stay here for our time off. Niall and I eventually got past our little feud and were back to being our old selves again.

“Where do you suppose Liam went?” Zayn asked, sitting on the couch in our hotel room.

“He said something about seeing Simon. He didn’t say why, though.” Louis shrugged his shoulders.

“Hm, I wonder what he needed to talk about. Usually we all see him together if it was really important?” Niall said, knitting his eyebrows together.

“Eh, it’s probably nothing. Maybe it’s about his birthday or something.” I suggested. They all nodded their heads.

“Yeah, probably.” Zayn said.

Julia’s POV:
My father told me that I needed to talk to Liam, so we decided to go grab some lunch and talk about everything. When we got to the restaurant, I was quiet.

“Reservation for Payne.” He said, smiling at the hostess.

“You already made a reservation? How did you know I would agree to this?” I asked.

“I knew you wouldn’t say no to me.” He smiled at me, and I rolled my eyes, also giving him a smile. After the hostess lead us to our table, I sat across from Liam, and picked up the menu. It was kind of awkward for the first five minutes, but after we placed our orders I broke the silence.

“So how have you been?” I asked, awkwardly.

“I’ve been pretty okay. How about yourself?” He asked. I didn’t know what to say. I couldn’t let him know about Lexi. I didn’t know how long he would even stay in my life and I wasn’t ready to just say who her father is either.

“U-Uh, yeah. I’ve been fine.” I gave him a reassuring smile and looked down, fidgeting with my fingers. I always do that when I’m nervous.

“Why are you nervous?” He asked, apparently noticing my actions.

“I don’t know….” I answered honestly.

“Don’t be. It’s just me.” He placed his hand on top of mine, which brought my gaze back up to him.

“I’m sorry.” I finally said. “I’m sorry I never answered your calls or texts. I’m sorry I just cut you out of my life completely. You were always there for me when I needed you most, and I just shut you out. I’m sorry…” I felt so bad for what I’ve done to him in the past few years. He didn’t deserve this. None of them did. I messed up everyone’s life, and I felt horrible.

“Don’t be. It’s alright. You were just scared, Jules. But don’t worry, okay? I’m still here for you and always will be. No matter the situation.” He gave me a smile that I haven’t seen in a while. A smile full of hope and trust. I missed his smile, too.

For the rest of our lunch, we just caught up on everything. I still didn’t tell him about Lexi, but I don’t think I will for a while. I feel bad for lying to him though. I just don’t want everything to fall apart so quickly again…

After we ate, he drove me back home. I told him I would just get my car tomorrow which was still at the arena. Surprisingly, he still knew where I lived, and it actually meant so much to me. When we pulled up to the driveway, I just prayed that everyone was still out getting ice cream or something. The last thing I needed was for Liam to see Lexi.

“Do you mind if I come in?” Liam asked, raising his eyebrows.

“O-oh, no. Not at all.” I gave him a nervous smile. We got out of the car and walked up to the door. When I unlocked it I opened it and the house was quiet. I sighed a sigh of relief, and closed the door behind Liam after he stepped in.

“Still looks the same around here.” Liam let out a small chuckle. That’s when I heard the all to familiar noise. The sound of my daughter’s feet pitter-patting into the living room.

“MOMMY’S HOME!” She yelled, coming to hug me. Oh no. Liam was still standing there, and his face showed confusion. I wouldn’t blame him though. Christa then came out after Lexi, and her eyes were widened. I didn’t know what to say. “Mommy who is that?” She asked, pointing to Liam. He gave an awkward smile.

“This is Liam. He’s a good friend of mine.” I saw Liam smile at me, but his face still showed confusion. He looked over at Lexi again, and I could tell her figured everything out. “Liam…this is my daughter…Alexis.” I took a deep breath as Lexi hid behind my leg.

“Well hello there, love.” Liam crouched down to her height, and she just moved behind me more.

“Don’t worry, Liam is nice. He won’t harm you.” I let out a small laugh. She moved from behind my legs and walked closer to Liam. I looked at Liam’s face and saw his expression. His eyes widened a little, then he looked up at me.

“Oh my gosh…” He said, realizing the familiar eyes and facial features.

“Is this—“ Before he could finish I nodded my head.

“Liam please don’t tell him. I want to do it myself…”
