Chapter 2: Being Noticed (Tori’s P.O.V.)
School had been a minor nightmare today. My entire day had been filed with test after test after test. The only thought I had all day was how much I wanted to get home.
“Hey mom!” I called as I headed inside. I was answered by silence.
I crept through the house, setting my backpack inside my door. I inched over to her bedroom door and peeked inside. She wasn’t there, so I turned and headed back through the house. She had worked over last night, so I thought that maybe she was taking a nap. My wonder was stopped when I saw the piece of paper that was sitting on the kitchen counter.
Had to go in. Shelly needed someone to work. Supper in the freezer. Love you. And don’t stay up all night.
I smiled at the last part of her note. She knew that I would end up staying up half the night either working on homework or planning something new for my fans on YouTube. I hoped that she knew that I wasn’t going to listen. I was staying up tonight, school tomorrow or not.
I felt something rub against my leg. I looked down to see my cat, my little baby. I leaned down and picked him up as he rubbed his orange hair against my cheek.
“How is my little Ranger doing?”
He answered me with a meow as I walked over to his food bowl. He wagged his tail eagerly as I went to fill it up. Meowing and purring filled the kitchen as I set his bowl back down on the floor. I rubbed his head as he leaned over and began stuffing his face.
I left the kitchen and headed for my room, pulling my phone out of my pocket. I slid the lock off as I walked into my room and nearly tripped over my backpack. I caught myself before flopping onto my bed. I waited for my phone to connect to our wifi, while I grabbed my laptop. I quickly typed in my password and watched my screensaver appear. I smiled at the picture of Ranger and me as I opened my internet browser.
“Let’s see what I’ve missed.” I said as I typed in YouTube and waited for the page to load. As soon as the page loaded, I punched in my username and password. I checked my new videos, seeing that I had some new comments on some of my videos. I scanned through them, not noticing anything overly exciting. I was happy to see that a lot of people were enjoying my covers though. I pulled my phone over and began to look through my Twitter.
I read the tweets on my wall for a moment, seeing a few cool facts and other things. I smiled at some of the corny jokes that were on there. Then I noticed that I had a light under Connect at the top of the app. I pressed it and waited for the page to refresh. I scrolled through all of my new mentions and smiled.

I froze as my eyes landed on who had sent me the last tweet. It was Niall Horan, the official Niall Horan. My eyes scanned down, seeing that I had a tweet from each of the guys.

My eyes scanned over the tweets from Liam, Louis, Harry and Zayn. Zayn’s made me blush a little. He had said that I looked good.
I couldn’t peel my eyes away from my phone screen. Each member of One Direction had tweeted me and watched my Rock Me cover. I could feel my heart beginning to race now. I couldn’t believe it.
I finally managed to snap out of my trance. My laptop was immediately in my lap as I began to look through the list of songs that I had for my next cover. My eyes eagerly scanned the list, hoping to find a good choice for this week. I loved my mom, but I was going to be up for quite a while tonight.
