Chapter 17: Chasing After Her

Chapter 17: Chasing After Her (Zayn’s P.O.V.)

I thought it was kind of funny how Tori was telling us not to pick her up. I mean, she was the one who asked for the ride in the first place. I ignored her message and waited for Liam to pull up in front of the school.

We were the only two who came. The other three were out playing decoy for the paparazzi. It was actually a great idea, I just hoped it worked.

As I finished that thought, Liam pulled into the parking lot. I smiled a little as I pulled out my phone and texted Tori that we were here. It didn’t take her long after that to come through the front doors. I couldn’t contain myself, I was so happy to see her.

“Tori!” I yelled her name.

I waited for her to turn and smile as she looked for us, but she didn’t. Instead, she took off running. I was confused, but Liam started to pull out of the parking lot after her. I called her name as we drove, trying to get her to stop. But she wouldn’t, and I could tell that she won’t.

“Shit…” I heard Liam mumble. I looked forward to see that we had reached a red light.

I knew that this was not going to work. We had to go after her. This was one of those times that I was glad that we had decided to rent a convertible, because I undid my seatbelt and took off after her down the street. I knew Liam would followed us as soon as he could, but for now I had to catch Tori.

“Tori!” I called her name as I ran after her.

She didn’t reply, she only ran faster. She ran a lot faster than I had anticipated, so I forced myself to go faster. I had to catch her.

“Tori!”

It took some effort, but I finally managed to catch her. I grabbed her arm and pulled her around. She hung her head and tried to pull away, but I wasn’t going to let her go.

“Tori,” I pleaded, “Stop. What’s wrong?”

She just shook her head and refused to look at me. I tried to move my head so that I could see through the hair that was hanging in front of her face. There really was something wrong, that was easy to see.

“Tori, look at me.”

She had stopped struggling, but still she just shook her head.

“Please look at me,” I said softly.

She didn’t move at first. I expected her to just shake her head again, but she slowly began to look up. I could see the tears in her eyes and the few that were on her cheeks. My eyes also landed on a scratch that was on her cheek. I reached up and rubbed the tears from her face with my thumb, before allowing my thumb to trace the little red line.

“Tori,” I spoke softly, “who did this you?”

She just shook her head again as the tears started to well up again. I didn’t ask again, I just pulled her into a hug. I could tell that she wasn’t really sad, she was frustrated. I wasn’t sure what had happened, but I did know one thing. Tori needed someone and I wasn’t going to leave her.
