"You know all my life, I went to church and I was always taught that every person matters to God. That's why you aren't worthless and hopeless, Niall. Everyone matters, no matter what size, race, gender or disability. You always have a reason to live, Niall even if you don't see it right now. That is why I refuse to give up on you. No one deserves that. Now, I am not trying to be rude but I think you need a shower before you take a bath. Being stuck in bed for weeks doesn't make a person the cleanest thing in the world so it is probably better you scrub up a bit."
Niall just nodded realizing Hadley is probably right. He started to head in the direction of the shower. He stumbled and looked like he is really dizzy. He started to fall over but since he's become so skinny, he isn't too heavy for Hadley to catch.
Hadley held Niall in her arms gently and softly spoke, "Do you need help, Niall?"
He nodded sadly and mumbled, "I'm still a pathetic excuse for a man."
It was probably not intended for Hadley to hear but she did.
"Niall, you're not pathetic. You've gone through something I can't even imagine having to go through and you just need help getting back on your feet and I am here to help you do that. So I don't want to hear you say bad things about yourself. You understand? You're so strong, I can see you are. You just took a little beating and you'll be strong again soon but you're going to have to trust me and let me help you, okay?"
Niall nodded sadly. She led him over to the shower and set him on the seat in the shower.
"I am going to help you get clean Niall. So just wait here while I go put on something I don't mind getting wet so I can help wash you. Can you take off the rest of your clothes while I am gone?"
Niall blushed and said in a tiny voice, "Does that mean you're going to see me naked?"
Hadley blushed, "I guess so."
Niall shook his head, "I don't want you to see me. I'm ugly and gross."
Tears started to fall out of his unseeing eyes and it broke Hadley's heart. She went over to Niall and gently put her hand on his shoulder. He flinched but soon relaxed. Hadley smiled a small smile when she realized he was starting to trust her.
She spoke softly, "Niall, I will go get a blindfold so that I can help you but I won't see anything, okay?"
Niall nodded, "You promise?"
"I promise. I will be right back and holler if you need anything."
Niall just nodded. Hadley went to go put on a bathing suit and to get a blindfold. As she entered the bathroom, she saw Niall's naked silhouette through the shower glass and her heart pounded. She put on the blindfold like she promised and then carefully felt her way into the shower. When she closed the door, Niall jumped.
"It's just me, love. No need to be afraid."
"You have a blindfold on right?"
He shifted uncomfortably waiting for her response.
"Give me your hands and I'll prove it to you."
He held out his hands timidly and she felt reached out her hands until they made contact with his. She gently took them and place them where the blindfold is. He used that opportunity to use her strength to stand up in the shower. Their bodies are close together and both have blushing faces.
