Chapter Ten
Chapter 10
The first month has passed. We now find Hadley without many spots on her body that haven't been bruised or violated but she hasn't given up.
Whether Niall will admit it or not, he needs her. We find Niall, skinny as a rail. He's only eating enough to stay alive, which isn't much at all.
It is whatever Hadley can force down his throat so he doesn't die. She cries herself to sleep at night with how scary Niall looks. You can easily count his ribs through his shirt and his cheek bones have become more prominent. He sleeps all the time, as often as he can. He just wants to be dead. Hadley is very aware of that. She knows Niall hates living and he isn't trying to hide it. Hadley has tried everything to break down Niall's walls but all she gets are bruises and harsh words Niall can't take back.
He may not be able to see but he is very strong when he manages to make contact with any part of her, he uses his strength against her. But he has been too weak lately to fight back much. Hadley wishes it would go back to when it was actually difficult to force Niall to eat. Now he is pretty submissive because he physically can't fight back. The most physical thing he does is go to the bathroom and throw up whatever food manages to get down his throat. Hadley is on the verge of giving up but she can't leave Niall now. He will die if she does. There is no more sugar coating anything anymore. Hadley only knew of one more thing to do and if it didn't work she is going to have to turn Niall over to people that were more qualified than her. That means he would end up in a mental institution. That is the last thing everyone wants to do to Niall. It's like saying you're too much of a burden for us so we are going to hand you off to someone else so they can deal with you. Hadley spent endless nights taking classes to qualify her for what she knew Niall needed and she finally got to the point of being a certified psychologist.
With a lot of her nursing schooling, it took less time to qualify. It was a blessing. Hadley returned a few days later with what she needed. She carefully approached Niall's room and tried not to cry as she saw his small frame struggling to get back into bed so he could sleep away the pain.
She sat on his bed, "Niall, why do you want to die so badly?"
She prayed that, by some miracle, Niall would open up to her and finally start giving her some answers so that she could help him in any way that she could.
She started crying when Niall whispered, "It all started when..."
Hadley is crying because Niall finally is going to tell her what was wrong.
