*Liam’s POV*
I shake my head, pissed off after what Zayn just told me.
They seriously clawed her face? That’s just fucked up. She hasn’t even done anything. We’ve been out as a couple for a day. Kendall doesn’t have a twitter and she hasn’t even interacted with them! How can they hate her?
I write a quick twitlonger saying how pissed off I am that this happened and that I’m happy with Kendall and I don’t need them wrecking her gorgeous face.
When Niall picks me up for the radio interview, we talk about what happened.
“Poor girl.” He says.
“You like her?” I can’t hide my confusion.
“We met for like a second, mate. But it’s kind of awesome to think about not being the only Non-English on in the group anymore.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’m Irish. She’s American. We’re both not from here. It’s kind of annoying being the only one that isn’t English; being so different all the time. And besides, I always root for the underdog, and you’ve kind of been harsh to Kendall.”
“What do you fucking expect?” I nearly yelp. “I’m forced to date her because of what Danielle did to me. Am I supposed to be as happy as a pile of fucking rainbow unicorns or some shit?”
“You don’t have to take it out on her either. S’not her fault.” Niall shrugs. That’s the thing that bothers me about him, he doesn’t really get upset (unless Ireland loses). He just tells his opinion then kind of shrugs and you can’t get mad at him because he always looks like a fucking puppy. “What Danielle did sucks. But it’s not Kendall’s fault. Fuck, she’s just trying to help you out. And she ended up getting yelled at by paps and her face getting scratched. Maybe just put in an effort to at least be nice to her.” Niall shrugs again as he pulls into the radio’s parking lot.
I sigh as we all get set up in the station. Maybe I should do that. She’s actually quite interesting and funny when you kind of get her off her edge. Maybe we should get her drunk. Take her clubbing.
I’m distracted from my thoughts when Hank comes up to us. He tells me to bring up the incident and to be more “disappointed” than actually angry. I just nod and then the interview gets ready to start.
“Hello I’m Charlie Travis and you’re here with Radio 7 on BBC and I’m here with One Direction. Say hello boys.”
“Hello.” We all say into our respective microphones.
“How are you guys doing?”
“Good” is the collective answer from the guys but then I say, “Actually, I’m not doing so well, Charlie.”
“What happened, Liam?” Then I explain what happened and the interview ends up being about that and how some of the fans treat us.
At the end of the interview, I call Kendall. “Hey, how are you holding up?”
“My face stings but I’m okay.”
“I just wanted to say that I’m sorry you’ve already been through a lot. And maybe I’ll get Management to let us not go out tonight so you can relax.”
“I’d like that, Liam. Thanks.”
I clear my throat. There’s something about her voice. She sounds so childlike and innocent that for a second I think about her being my actual girlfriend and then the second after reality bitchslaps the fuck out of me.
*The Next Three Weeks*
Kendall and I have been “dating” for almost two months now, but it’s been three weeks of us actually knowing each other.
She’s gotten to be more chill, not cringing at my tattoos or when I inadvertently swear. Fuck, she’s actually been fun. Management wants us to be all coupley with Zayn and Perrie so Kendall’s been getting really close to Perrie and Zayn’s been warming up to her.
Luckily they didn’t say Louis and Eleanor, because Louis still hates her for both being judgmental, haughty about not drinking and bringing up Danielle. He may be a child sometimes, but he’s fiercely protective.
Kendall, besides her forced-hanging-outs with me, has been getting close with Niall. They’re like two peas in a pod.
Harry hasn’t really put in an effort either way. He doesn’t like to stir things up so he’s just generally nice to Kendall but not friendly.
Unfortunately, I’ve been getting quite close with her too. We’ve been going out a ton for the past week, and we’ve even been to an award show together. I wasn’t lying when I said she’s fun. She’s interested in art and she knows a lot of fashion, so she always looks really cute…
Fortunately for Kendall, the fans have backed off, and most are supporting us. It kind of makes me feel bad since it’s a lie, but at the same time our popularity has apparently gone up.
It’s her birthday tomorrow, so we got Management to agree to let us all go to a club. It should be fun to see her let loose.
