What I Don't Remember
Fire
“Where are we?” I asked, sitting up in my seat.
“Forest Park.” Niall said.
I looked over my shoulder at him and noticed that he was rocking back in forth like he had to pee.
“Are you okay back there, Niall? You seem a little giddy.” I gazed at him through the rearview mirror and saw that his hands were shaking.
“I’m fine. I’m just a little nervous that’s all.”
I frowned.
“Why would you be nervous?”
“We are playing extreme truth or dare tonight, and little chicken boy over there is afraid of the dark.” Harry butted in.
I broke out in exaggerated laughter.
“Truth or dare is for chumps.”
Harry raised his brow.
“Not the kind we play.”
We were just pulling into a stone driveway when I caught a glimpse of a small fire in the distance. Massive smoke rose from its center and as we got closer I noticed people standing around roasting marshmallows. Harry parked the car in front of the wooden lodge before we all headed towards the campfire. I was nearly there when Harry laid his arm over my shoulder.
“Smile, they already love you.” He said with a grin.
I looked over at him with a slight smirk.
“I hope you’re right.”
I was just about to say something to Niall when I saw a girl rushing towards me. She had blonde hair that she had put up into a high ponytail.
“Paris, it is a pleasure to finally meet you.” She said, embracing me in a hug so comforting that I couldn’t help but smile. I glanced at Harry who seemed satisfied by the fact that we were already getting along.
“Paris, this is Perrie, Zayn’s girlfriend.” Harry chimed in.
“It’s nice to meet you Perrie.” I tried to duplicate the girl’s flawless smile but failed miserably. Perrie was gorgeous and had the whitest teeth I had ever seen along with a killer body. Suddenly I was jealous.
“Why don’t you guys join us? We were just about to play truth or dare.” Perrie said, happily.
She hooked her arm with mine and led me to the area where everyone was hanging out around the fire. Some people were cooking smores and others were laid out in the grass gazing up at the stars. I took a seat next to Perrie while Harry sat down on the opposite side of the campfire with Niall and a few others. My palms began to sweat and I started to worry about how extreme this game of truth or dare would be. I was already nervous about being around a bunch of people I didn’t know, but acting stupid in front of them was on a whole other level. I figured that if I just kept asking for truth questions I would be in the clear. I glanced over at Harry who waved at me before volunteering to go first.
“Truth or dare?” A guy named Brandon asked.
Harry thought about it for a second before going with truth.
“Alright, Harold. If you could kiss any girl around this campfire, who would it be?”
Harry brought his finger to his lips and began to scan the face of every female before landing on me.
“Definitely, Paris.”
I felt my cheeks flush as everyone shouted and cheered. The fact that Harry wanted to kiss me out of every other girl in this place was beyond flattering and I couldn’t keep myself from smiling. The next person up was Niall, who seemed to be a lot calmer than he was in the car. He took a long breath before choosing dare.
“Niall, I dare you to go over there and kiss Paris.” Everyone went silent, “Sorry Harry.”
