This kind reminds me of a book- I can't remember if it was The Giver or Matched series... The guy jumped in the lake and hid there. I just thought of that when I read your story. You know, those two books are some of the best books out there-hell, the giver is even a classic!-so, your story is bound to be great. Good luck!
