basically Lily's mother was a test subject and she fell in love knowing she wasn't suppose to, Lily's father was condemned to death for the three crimes both had done together , Lily was born in captivity and since then Miss Butts has told her that her mother died in labor. Lily has flashbacks when she sleeps and there also a murder has just happened :) hope that helps, i tried to not spoil anything
