I know! Maybe she took too long, then the group thought she was dead so they left trying to find another shelter since the one they were in was getting invaded by zombies so they left to find another, leaving Tara behind.

p.s. yes It was inspired by the walking dead but hey, it's a pretty good Idea if you ask me :)
