People please - Why do you not choose OTHER names when Harry has children (Specifically Daughters) in fanfictions

WHY IS IT ALWAYS DARCY?

I know he said he'd like to name his firstborn daughter Darcy but come on, just... Choose a different name. 99 Per Cent of the fanfics I read where Harry has a daughter it's most likely she's called Darcy

Lol! I was just thinking about this last week.

To fair it's mostly older wattpad fics that keep naming these baby girls Darcy. The whole Darcy thing is uncool in the modern 1D/HS fanfic community. I have a story in which Harry is a single dad(that I really need to update) and he has a daughter (because I really only picture H with daughters for some reason) named Essie. I aimed to steer completely away from Darcy. In my current fic, "Crossroads", Harry and his wife are expecting a baby and while I haven't completely settled on the gender if it's a girl I will definitely NOT be named Darcy. Darcy is a cute name but it's just been way over used in the fanfic world.

When I started Fools Gold I actually didn’t even know about that and now I hate it and wish so badly that I could change it. I just went looking for old English names that weren’t used too often anymore. Now I hate it and it legit sucks

A Darcy here and there never hurt anyone but cicra 2011 to maybe about 2013 all fics about Harry being a dad just had to feature a daughter named Darcy. I'm so glad people have come up with more original names in the past few years. Also, I'm really glad that that whole trend of "I'm pregnant with Harry's baby but he doesn't know it so I must find him so he can reconnect with me and the baby" trend of fanfics has died down in recent years.

I know but I see it so often in other stories and people complain about it so much that I wish I could redo it. But I guess it makes a point of contention if I decided to do another part to the “series”.

Sorry, I read a fic called "Baby Daddy" and it was AWFUL. That's why I was whining, I love the name Darcy but I feel it's more a boy's name than a girl's name - Is that weird?

I've been having the same issue with this site sometimes. It's only certain things I won't get a notification for.

Oh, I started that then was like "um, how about no". I love the name too. That's odd to me because I think its a girls' name. But I think that the whole "Mr. Darcy" romance/erotica novels thing make people see it as a masculine thing.
