I only post here and on Wattpad and I swear Wattpad's even worse. I tried to find a Harry Styles fanfiction that isn't like that Dark Fanfiction written by Han-rawr on tumblr but they're all so alike
I'm too scared to put the Wedding Date on Wattpad because I know people will copy it. Once something Original goes up, they all jump on the bandwagon and follow

Wattpad is a disaster in and of itself honestly (as i try to finish something to post in wattpad lol) I wish that there was more variety within this freaking fandom with plot lines too. There's a reason why I stopped reading and just have the hardest time trying to keep writing the things I have up. You're exactly right, why post something you love and work hard on when someone else is just going to copy it. OR it won't get attention because it doesn't fall within a certain fan fiction sub genre. I get you, girl.

I'll always have something for you to read. Quite frankly you could read my shopping list if you wanted, although it's not as exciting as a Fanfiction. I've got another Harry fanfiction lined up as soon as I get Wedding Date finished. As for Wattpad I only have one thing up on there and it's a Chris Evans fic and its silly but to be honest I just write it for me and if people see it - Hey great

I know that you'll always have something for me but I feel like my friends writing and like other stuff are different in a way, you know? Maybe that only makes sense to me. Ooooh new stuff! I only have a couple of things up on wattpad too (i think its like 5 things over 3 different accounts cuz I'm a shady bitch that way) I write for myself as well, but it's a nice feeling when people are like 'hey I like this'. I don't know I feel like all writing sites are lacking lately just in general, fan fiction or not.
I do know. I read my friend's writing and hers is so special to me. I get it, I understand - Everyone has a different way of writing. Shady bitch huh? Not gonna lie that made me chuckle because that's exactly how I am.

Exactly, reading the stories by those I generally like as people is one thing because I know them and most of the time I can determine their intent with plot lines and I know that there's always more to it than the surface value. Yes, shady bitch. I don't want some of my fandoms intersecting, if that weird or not, I don't know. But I also don't like my original stuff residing in the same location as my fan fiction. I'm glad it made you chuckle :P
I'm not trying to boost my story but I had someone report it as the "most original story" because the plot isn't like many other stories. It's about Harry and the main character meeting during an artificial insemination. It's called 'The Donation'. I don't know if you'll like it but you can try it out if you want. The report another did on my story is in the book 'Reviews, Critiques, and Honest Opinions' if you want to read that for yourself.
I completely agree with everything in this thread. This site is virtually dead lately and I don't know why. A lot of the writers whose stories I used to enjoy have vanished and the dedicated readers who were always happy to support my writing and leave reviews are gone. I just posted a new fic after being hiatus for a while and I'm honestly a bit fed up with the lack of feed back I'm getting. Like @morrison_hotel said, if the story you post doesn't fit this run-of-the-mill mold it won't get the attention it deserves. It literally feels as if people are just ignoring my work.
Another thing I have noticed is that a lot of 5SOS stories are creeping their way onto this site. Like I get that this website has a partnership with a 5SOS site and allows crossovers for people who have members of the band in their 1D stories and vice versa to get more reads but a lot of these 5SOS stories have no 1D characters at all and are completely unrelated to the 1D fandom but still post their stories here. I find this unfair and almost to the equivalent of story bumping because it is taking the attention and exposure away from 1D writers who are actually writing about members of 1D.
As far as wattpad goes, I feel as if that site in itself is dead, especially for the 1D fandom. I used to use the site myself to post my "Let's Pretend It's Love" fic some of my other oneshots but I was two years too late. The big boom for 1D fics there were from 2011-2014. By mid 2014 a lot of people(mostly younger fans) were starting to lose interest(also the same year 5SOS broke into the mainstream) and the big 1D fanfic boom started to die down. Independent archives like this one that are specially fixed on one area of fanfiction have always thrived since there's not extensive searching for anything and all fics related to that area are not hidden. I started writing 1D fics and joined this site in 2015. Things were still triving around here up until about late last year. It's been two years since 1D went on hiatus and a lot of fans have either lost interest,been turned off by the boys individual solo careers or have decided to focus their attention and energy on one boy but this fandom really needs a big fanfic make-over.

I am getting ready to start something new. I'm hoping its original but I also don't read as much as I used to over here. So I don't know if it's been done before but I'm gonna try my fucking hardest to make sure that it's not the same old same old.

This, so much. I totally hopped on this bandwagon late but it seemed like there was a fair amount of action here, before the log in error happened and locked a lot of people out. Around that same time, the .com site crashed, and I think people just have up. The hiatus doesn't help but it's not like the boys aren't around!

I'm starting to drift to other things now: TV shows and such. I have two Walking Dead fanfics I'm writing and a Game of Thrones fanfic. I obviously have "The Wedding Date" but I took that down because loss of muse is such a wonderful thing *Sarcasm sign*
When I first started writing fanfiction it was out of boredom but then I got to like it and I stumbled across this site quite accidentally. But like someone's already said - It's Dead. And the 1D Hype is dying

I was a part if the .com site before I joined here and would alternate posting between here and there. That site was pretty much the life-line of 1D fanficion, the most active and arguably the largest archive for 1D fics. The site crashing( I don't think it really crashed the domain just wasn't renewed I think)really hurt the community. Soo many people lost their stories and its been really hard to follow up with your favorite stories because they're either gone or have different tumblr urls. One of the old admins is trying to get a new one but I doubt the community will ever be the same. The log in error might explain why a lot of accounts have gone missing.
Okay. So scrolling through Harry Styles stories all I ever see is the same thing being written over and over again: Teacher/Student which is illegal and if you write about it: Eww. Dark!Harry where Harry's this really bad lad but an innocent girl changes him - Newsflash, I've been in a real life situation like that - Bad Lads never Change. Punk Harry/Punk Harry in school - Same as Dark Harry. Bad Guys never change
Where's the Originality? Don't people know how to be Original?
If any of you have any good recommendations of stories would you please let me know? Something Original though, something no one's done before
