Some of you already know this but on May 6 I was evacuated from my home (which I've only owned for just shy of a year) due to flooding. It was an incredibly emotional, stressful and frustrating time. I was one of the lucky ones who could stay with family, but my neighbours were all shoved into hotels some 25k away - some with young kids - while we waited for answers, and rarely received them. I think the worst part was driving past my home every single day and seeing that it is completely fine, and yet being unable to go home due to bureaucratic red tape. I'm SO FREAKIN HAPPY because today, I am finally home! I'm typing this while sitting on my deck - granted, still surrounded by caution tape and security guards - but oh my gosh, you guys. I'm home. I actually want to cry, I'm so elated. I just wanted to share my good news! And, little plug here, but if you're ever inclined to donate money and don't know where to give, the Red Cross - Canada or the States. They are helping in more ways than I feel I need and I know every bit of money helps them help people like me, or people worse off than me (the security guard here lost his entire house a few towns over and here he is, helping us). SO HAPPY!!
Thanks everyone! I'm still on alert (which, even if it turned into an order, I wouldn't leave) but I don't think it will amount to anything. Can tell you one thing though, my love for rain storms is long gone!!
