Would you go to a wedding if you didn't know anyone (Sorry I know it's not 1D related)

So here's the full story; My Mother and Father were invited to a Wedding back in February. My Mum can go to the Wedding but she kinda made me go with my Dad to the reception because she's working and cannot go herself (Even though she's the boss and can take time off)

I don't know the couple getting married. I've met them once, and not long enough to have a conversation. It was just a quick hello and goodbye - I really only know one other person that'll be going besides me and my Dad (My good friend Clare)

I'm not happy as I made other plans and had to cancel them - Which my Mum KNEW about. I feel SO bad, I was meant to be going to celebrate my friend's birthday. I've been so angry with my Mum that I've not talked to her in a few days

Welllll if you know the reception will be fun, I would go, maybe you could leave the wedding reception a bit early and go with your friend?

Oh, parents can be so fun, can't they? I think I would go for a bit and make sure Dad is settled, or knows other people there, before bolting. I think the protocol for weddings is stay through the dinner and speeches, but as soon as the first dance happens, it's okay to jet.
