Dakota’s POV

Anne and Robin have become parental figures to me in the past two weeks. Anne has learned to be a little less... what’s the word? Overbearing. She like to be the mum that makes sure her kids are the best they can be and have everything they need. I, however, am very frightened when she barges in my room. She scares me when she asks to many questions and talks too much. She’s toned her ways down, but it will always be a little scary to me.

Robin is like the father I’ve always wanted. He’s kind, warm-hearted, and genuinely concerned for me. He's so nice.

"Dakota?" Anne asks through my door. I don't really leave my room. Usually, I recording the days he’s gone in my journal or texting/Skyping him. He always says goodnight either by a Facetime or a text at exactly 9:45 p.m on the dot. Sometimes he’s on break from a show or interview or he’s getting ready. Other times, he’s with the guys and they all wish me a good night’s rest.

“Yes?” I answer looking away from my book. I had gone to a local bookstore two days ago with Robin and bought some with money Harry gave me. I'm reading Divergent by Veronica Roth. So far, I love it.

"People are here to see you," She says before her disappearing footsteps signal her departure.

Who would come to see me? Harry and the boys are away and asleep and everyone else hates me. I lay my book face down on my desk and leave my bedroom. I descend down the stairs and walk to the living room. I stop at the bottom step when I see Perrie and Eleanor on the couch. What are they doing here?”

“Dakota!” Eleanor stands from the couch and tugs Perrie with her. “Long time, no see!” She pulls me into a tight hug making me have a mini panic attack. I hyperventilate and try to pull away. “Don’t be such a killjoy, Dakota.”

I freak out even more when Perrie joins. My heart rate accelerate and tears prick my eyes. “Girls!” Anne yells and pulls them off and crying me. I hug her and sob into her shoulder. “She doesn’t like it when people she hardly knows touches her. And she really doesn’t like girls! Now please leave this girl alone.”

“I’m so sorry,” Perrie apologizes. “I didn’t think they were serious.” I wipe my tears and cling to Anne.

Anne pulls away and holds me at arm’s length, “Do want some water? Your throat must be awfully dry.” I nod my head and hug myself. “Alright, I’ll be right back.” She heads into the kitchen leaving me with the girls.

I sit away from them on the armchair sitting with my knees to my chest. “What are here for?” I whisper loud enough for them to hear.

"Well, your birthday is in about a month so, we wanted to come and plan it,” She explains taking out her phone. “We were thinking of going to see the boys while they were they’re in Adelaide. We haven’t asked them yet, but we know Harry will say yes. What do you think?”

My ear perk up when I hear Harry’s name. “You’re gonna take me to see Harry?” I ask with excitement.

El looks at me with surprise and confusion before glancing at Perrie. “That’s the plan. Hopefully, they can get some time off. Though I think Harry might blow off the day anyways."

I chuckle. Harry would do that. "What would we do there?" I ask timidly.

"We were going to throw a small party at the hotel and invite some of our other friends for you to meet," She explains. "Perrie was thinking of inviting her band and Louis wanted to-"

Perrie covers her mouth and scowls, "That's a surprise, weirdo!"

I furrow my brows and watch as they quietly converse with each other. What did Louis want to do? Eleanor mutters a sorry before looking back at me. "Apparently, no one bothered to tell me it was a surprise.”

I nod my head and rest my eyes. My head leans against my knees and lets my mind wander. My thoughts go to Harry. I’m a little obsessed, but it’s hard not to. He’s my first love. I smile thinking of the word love. I can imagine him telling me his love with the warm spark in his eyes. I love him. Something a little part of me always wanted to say.

“So Dakota, what do you want for your birthday?” Perrie asks.

I shrug, “Dunno. This whole birthday concept is new to me.” My last birthday, I went to the movies. That’s it. Nothing special. Now I have so many people that actually want to celebrate my birthday.

“Come on, everyone wants something,” She says. “Just think.”

I shrug, “I just want to spend the day with Harry.”

*~*~*~*~*

An hour later, they left and Harry calls. “Hello beautiful,” He hums on the line and a smile spreads across my lips. “How’s your day been?”

“Odd,” I tell him and flop onto my bed. “Perrie and Eleanor came over to plan my birthday. They want to fly over while you guys are in Adelaide.”

“I know. I’m excited. I get to throw your first birthday party. I already know what I’m getting you,” He says.

“Wow, you know what to get me while I don’t even know what I want,” I chuckle. “I think for the first time, I’m actually excited for my birthday."

"And I'm making sure it's the best birthday party ever by your standards. Louis has the best idea," He says. "It's a surprise though. I think you're going to love it."

I smile for the excitement in his voice. "Whatever it is, I don't think it's going to top spending time with you."

He laughs softly, "I can't wait to hold you in my arms again." I blush and lay on my pillows. "Facetime and Skype don't suffice. Oh shut up, Louis!" He yells. I guess he said something offensive. "Sorry. He was just making fun of me."

"You're whipped!" He yells loud enough for me to hear. I laugh at Harry's yells in response. "Whatever Harold!"

"What's whipped?" I ask.

"Uh, it means, well, I'm not sure how to explain it. It kind of means when a guy or girl, though it's usually a guy, is devoted to the one they're dating to a point others think is embarrassing. Or in simpler words, when someone will do anything for someone they love," He explains. Oh. That explains why Louis was making fun of him.

"That's not that bad. It just means they love someone a lot," I say.

"But for a guy, it isn't exactly manly," He tells me. "But it's fine. They can call me whatever. I love you and that's all that matters."

I giggle, "And I love you too."

"I gotta go, but I'll call you before you go to sleep. I miss you. Bye," He says.

"I miss you too. Bye," I hang up my phone and think about my first birthday party.
