Maddie Winters sat at her doorstep, she was waiting for Harry Styles, her best friend who almost never had any free time anymore. Maddie and Harry had been best friends since they were in fifth grade, over the years Maddie had developed feelings for him but she had never admitted it to him because she was afraid of losing him. "Earth to Maddie" Harry interrupted her train of thoughts. She looked up to see him smiling, he was green eyed and gorgeous. "Oh hey, I didn't hear you" she said. "Clearly" he said smiling, "So? Shopping? Everything's on me". Maddie laughed, "Sounds great".
They were walking around town, going from shop to shop, Maddie was glad they still had loads to talk about. After a whole lot of shopping they went for coffee. "Hey, do you remember Abby Gardner?" he asked once they sat down. "Oh of course, we used to play together before she left" Maddie replied.
"Well, I met her a few times in London, she lives there now."
"That's great, how is she doing?"
"Uh good, she talks about you every time we meet"
"Aw, that's nice, if you meet her again tell her i haven't forgotten her"
"Sure, anyway, there's something i have to tell you about her"
Maddie was intrigued by this, "WHAT?" she yelled.
"I think i kind of like her, she's really pretty, and I'm kind of building up the courage to ask her out, what do you think? Will she say yes?"
Maddie felt like someone had grabbed her heart, thrown it on the floor and stepped on it, she didn't know how to reply, she was shocked and hurt. She swallowed hard, "I'm sure she'll say yes, I mean you are Harry Styles besides you're a great guy, she'd be lucky to have you"
Saying those words was harder than she ever thought it would be.
