Serendipity

Chapter 15-
Monday afternoon

Annabeth’s POV:

I had just gotten home from school, I chucked my school bag near my door and plummeted myself on my comfy bed. It was a lovely mahogany bed, with bohemian covered sheets in shades of pink, orange, yellow and red. The head board of my bed was not the ordinary type; it was the size of a massive bookshelf, filled with many of my favourite stories. I really did love my bed, it represented my love for books and my love for art. My room in general was quite different from the other girls. It had only just been re-done, the smell of strong fumes still lingered from the paint that covered the walls. My room was a mixture of vintage and industrial furniture…with the hint of the fandom’s I follow.

I was looking at my bed side table, admiring the photo of Will and I, back when we where four. Will was an old family friend of mine, friends since we were young kids. He was like my partner in crime. The sound of my phone buzzing interrupted my thoughts, “Speak of the devil” I smiled.

“Hello to you to Anna!” Will laughed through the phone.

“What’s up?” I asked, playing with the hem of my duvet.

“Hey…would you like to come down to watch me play this afternoon?” He asked unsurely.

“Do you really want me to watch you kick a stupid ball?” I questioned, “-Or are you with Lily again?”

“Possibly the second option?” He laughed again.

“Argh! Fine, I’ll be there in ten minutes, but I’m doing this for Lily.” I smiled and hung up my iPhone.

Will is an unusual friend, well his my only friend who is incredibly rich. I mean, he lives in a massive house, land stretching for metres, has a pool, tennis courts PLUS maids and butlers…though he has never seen the fuss for it all. Will’s parents work a lot, and go over seas quite a bit- you know, family business and all…so the only person he has really is Lily and I. Lily is Will’s younger sister, she just turned four years old and is the cutest thing you have ever seen. She has gorgeous ginger hair, that is always in the signature pig tails. Lily is very much a girly girl, always caught wearing pink and carries her stuffed elephant around. Sometimes he asks if I want to come round, to hang with him and Lily, which I love- and in this circumstance its soccer. I think Will feels like Lily’s a bit safer is someone was watching her as he played and as a brilliant friend I am, I’m happy to help.

I get changed out of my uniform and slip on a over sized jumper, skinny jeans and my white high top converse. I take my phone, keys, a book for me, a book for Lily and placed it in a simple ‘library’ bag that had the words “We read to know we're not alone” written across it. I close my bedroom door and jog down my unfinished staircase. I put on a beanie that was hanging near the front door and did a quick mirror check before I leave.

“MUM! I’M GOING DOWN TO THE PARK TO MEET WILL! I’LL BE BACK SOON!” I yell, fixing my hair.

“Okay! Be back for dinner!” She faintly yelled back.

I grabbed the door knob, stepped onto the front door steps, closing the door behind me and heading off to my near by park.

I yanked my headphones out of my bag and plugged them into my phone. Walking along, I put my phone on shuffle and placed my phone back in my bag. If you know me, you would know that the one thing I love is walking down a peaceful street, sun shining brightly, listening to my favourite artists on full blast. I’m one of those people who pretend they are in a movie and each song is a different scene.

It was only a ten minute walk when I finally got to the soccer field part of the park. The park was a pretty freaken cool place if I’m being honest. There was a soccer/football field, a cricket field, a bbq/eating area and a massive area for kids to play. Some of the equipment looked too fun to resist and I quite frequently go on them.

I made it to the sidelines of the soccer field, sitting down against an old oak tree. I think they were warming up, the game starting in a couple of minutes. I couldn’t see Will or Lily so I grabbed the book I was reading lately and started to begin the next chapter. As I was turning the page a soccer ball rolled towards my feet. Assuming it was Will who kicked it, I stood up and kicked it back with full force, getting a solid kick out of it.

“Not bad love!” I heard a british voice say.

I looked up, seeing that it was in fact Louis who had the ball. He was running towards me, as I said, “Um, sorry…thought you were someone else.”

“Someone else? What brings you here?” Louis smiled, playing with the ball betweens his feet.

“I am actually-” I was about to say when something grabbed me around the legs.

“ANNA!” Lily’s little voice squealed.

I picked her up, her legs wrapped around my waist, “I’m here to watch this little one while her brother plays some soccer.” I answered, as if I was talking to Lily instead of Louis.

“Well aren’t you just a cutie.” Louis smiled at her.

“Lily- this is L-O-U-I-S, my friend-” I told he carefully.

Lily shyly waved at him and shoved her head in the crook of my neck.

“Nice to meet you Lily.” Louis continued to smile and be friendly.

“Sorry- she’s a bit shy…” I hugged her, “Honey!” I said to her, getting her attention, “I brought your favourite book, why don’t you sit and read some and I’ll be with you soon?”

She nodded, hoped down and went towards where my stuff was.

“You still haven’t told me why you’re here…trying to stalk me babe?” Louis smirked, as he now had the soccer ball in his hands.

“In your dreams!” I retorted.

“You know-” He began to say, stepping a little closer to me, “If you wanted to come and watch me play, then maybe grab something to eat after, you should of just said.” Louis smiled sweetly.

I laughed, slightly blushing “Is this you trying to ask me out on a date Louis?” Crossing my arms.

“Maybe.” He said as he looked from my mouth to my eyes, you know, the annoying yet slightly sexy action guys do.

Before I could say anything Will had come to join us “Hey gorg.” He smiled, kissing my cheek.

“Will!” I said and nudged him, he had completely not seen Louis.

“Sorry!” Will laughed, as he turned to face him, “How rude of me, I’m Will Kirks-” He smiled and held out his hand.

“Louis Tomlinson.” He clenched his jaw and shook Will’s hand firmly.

“Looks like we are versing each other today.” Will tried to make conversation.

“Yep.” Louis replied dryly.

“Well…I, better, go- game going to start soon.” Will broke the tension, before saying “Thanks again for minding Lily!” He smiled. I messed up his hair, as he was running off.

“Should have known.” Louis looked hurt.

“What are you talking about?” I frowned.

“Gotta go.” Louis blankly said, turning on his heels and jogging away.

“Wait! LOUIS!” I yelled, confused as to what was happening.

*50 MINUTES LATER*

“ANNA! Can I play dress up game on your phone?!” I heard a bored voice say as I was checking my tumblr.

“Okay, I’ll get it open for you.” I say, exiting tumblr and opening ‘Tiffany’s dress up’ app, “Here, I’ll be back in a second.”

As I walked towards the soccer game I noticed Louis was versing Will. It looked intense, more than usual. I think Will’s team was beating Louis', and it was only ten minutes left before it was to end.

“GO WILL!” I yell, gaining a smile from him.

But within seconds Louis contacts Will, pulling him to the ground while he got the ball. A whistle is blown by the umpire, as he holds up a red card, “RED CARD NUMBER 4-”

“That's bull!” Louis yells angrly, looking towards his team mates for back up.

“NUMBER 4, GET OFF THE FIELD.” The umpire repeats and points to the benches.

Louis gives Will a look and walks off the field in a huff. I’ve never seen Louis so aggravated before.

“Hey, what going on?” I asked as I approach him.

“Nothing!” He yells, before getting a drink out of his water bottle.

“Really? Cause last time I checked you don’t get a red card for nothing Louis.” I crossed my arms.

“Like you would know, you look like you haven’t played a game in your life. You have no ides what its like!” He retorted as he sat on the bench.

“I DO ACTUALLY! I used to play! And what happened to ‘Not bad love’,” I argued imitating him, “Just because I’m a girl doesn’t mean I can’t play a good game of soccer!” Louis didn’t reply and all he did was fiddle with the drink bottle, “What, so you're a sexist pig now?” I was fuming.

“Anna-” Louis looked up, his face softening.

“Louis- what were you doing out there?!” His coach came up to us, getting both of our attention.

“Sorry I was just-” He tried to justify his actions.

“You were just what?! Look, whatever is going on sort it out, because its effecting you and the team. I told you after the second yellow card- don’t screw it up other wise you would get the red…and that means suspension.” The coach was telling him off.

“I know.” Louis huffed.

“You leave me with no choice, you're suspended for two weeks.” The coach told him.

“WHAT?!” Louis argued.

“I warned you,” His coach shook his head, “Now, do some warm downs until the game ends.”

“Yes coach.” He sighed.

“Okay, good lad.” He patted his shoulder before he walked back to focus on the game.

Louis stood up and started to walk off, “Louis wait a second-“ I told him.

“Hey Sav, can you watch Lily while I talk to Louis?” I told the teams bench warmer.

“Sure.” Sav smiled.

I ran till I caught up to Louis- who seemed to being walking a lap of an oval to ‘warm down’.

“Look, I’m sorry about what I said before- I’m sure you're a fabulous soccer player.” Louis admitted.

I was now walking beside him, “Its okay, I know you didn’t mean it, you were just angry and you took it out on me.”

He started to scratch the back of his neck, “I guess I was a bit jealous.”

“Jealous?” I asked surprised? “Jealous of what?”

“OF YOU!” He yelled, now he had stopped walking, “Of you and Will.” He looked at me.

“But Louis-” I argued.

“It’s just that, I like you Anna- a lot…so much it kinda scares me actually. When I saw you with Will, I got this feeling and I instantly became angry and jealous. I didn’t know what was coming over me-” But before Louis could say anything else I interrupted him with something that I’ve never done before…a kiss.

He reaction was as expected, shocked. But he soon relaxed into the kiss and placed his hands on my waist, pulling me towards him further.

I broke the kiss, my eyes opening slowly and rested my hands on his chest, “I’m not with Will.” I replied in a hush tone, our faces only inches apart.

“What?” Louis asked confused.

“His just a good friend- thats all.” I reassured.

“Oh god.” Louis laughed, resting his forehead on mine.

“I thought you knew…” I replied.

“I just made a dick of myself for no reason.” He shook his head smiling, as his arms wrapped around my shoulders, pulling me into a hug.

"I should of probably made it clearer." I admitted.

"I should of not jumped to conclusions..." He laughed.

We both just ended up laughing and continued to walk and talk around the rest of the oval.

“I think the games finished- we should head back.” I suggested as we came to the end of the conversation.

“Yea you're right.” He smiled, wrapping an arm around me.

In less than five minutes we were back at the field.

“I better get back to Lily-” I turned to face him.

“Can’t you stay with me for another five minutes?” He whined as he grabbed both of my hands.

“No, I promised Will and plus, Sav is probably boring her to death.” I pointed out.

“Fine…but first I need your number.” Louis smirked.

We traded each others phones. My name on his being ‘Anna Banana’ with a banana emoji and his on mine is ‘My bae Tommo’ with the monkey laughing emoji.

“Okay I’ll text you later tonight.” I smiled, about to walk away.

Louis pulled me back before I could leave, “You're forgetting something babe.”

I leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek, “There, now go back and watch your team.” I smiled.

“See you later.” He winked and ran off towards the field.

I had gotten back to Lily and she was still focused on the dress up game.

“Have you been playing that since I left?” I asked, as I sat down next to her.

“Yep.” She replied, not taking her eye off the phone.

She played on my phone for another five minutes or so before the game had finished.

“Okay, times up honey, Will is done.” I told her.

She gave my phone back before asking, “Did he win?”

“I’m not sure, lets go and see.” I smiled, packing up my things, grabbing her hand and walking towards his team.

“DID YOU WIN!?” Lily asked excitedly at Will, as he picked her up.

“Yep! 4-2!” He hugged her tightly.

“Congrats hon.” I smiled at him.

“Hey, where did you and Louis get off to?” He asked.

“No where, just went for a walk…” I smiled, my eyes adverting to Louis who was also starring at me.

“He said sorry you know.” Will added.

“Did he?” I asked.

“Yeah, just as it finished, he said he was just stressed and stuff.” Will shrugged.

I laughed, “Yeah stressed.”

“You want a lift?” He asked, as he picked up his soccer bag and took his keys out, while still holding Lily.

“Um, sure, yea that would be great actually.” I smiled as we started to walk off toward the car park.

“I think he likes you.” Will said out of no where.

“What?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Louis, I’ve seen the way he looks at you.” Will told me.

“Oh, I haven’t noticed.” I smiled at the ground as the thoughts of what happened previously rushed though my head.
