Chapter Five

Penelope’s. P.O.V.

“Would you want to be exclusive?”

Exclusive?

How do I answer this?

I mean, having a great relationship with your co-parent would be great but he’s a superstar and I’m just some girl.

“Harry..” I started slowly
“Don’t you dare put yourself down,” he warned.

“All I was going to say is you’re you and I’m me.. You have supermodels and I have murderers.” I shrugged.
He grunted, “well I’m not going to make you feel like rubbish, because you’re not. You’re the mother of my babies- I mean our babies. You’re important.”

No matter how amazing it sounds to have a perfect family, relationships in Hollywood never seem to work.

“Harry I appreciate it, really I do. But you know how relationships work in your career- I don’t want to lose the father of our babies because something went wrong.”
He sighed, “you’re right. But you won’t completely discard the idea, right?”

“Correct, If there’s a chance and I feel it’ll work, I’ll take the potential. We’re just not there yet, love.” I smiled.

There was a moment of sweet silence before he spoke up, “I need to take you somewhere tomorrow.”
“Where to?” I questioned, cleaning up our mess.

“Shopping.”

***

I’m finishing up my look when I hear Harry knock. He isn’t allowing me to back out, he apparently wants to immediately start off with getting the supplies for our children.

I walked to my door and opened it, “hey,” I smiled.
“Hello ginger,” he cheeked.
I chuckled, “ginger?”
“Well you do have this amazing red hair,” he said, playing with a strand. “I really hope our kids have your hair.”

“Well thank you, Harry. But it’s not as grand as it seems.”

“What in the world do you mean? It’s so beautiful,” he questioned.
“Gingers have such a light skin tone so I always have to wear sunscreen, I can never tan, and it’s really hard to find makeup products.”

“Well I think it’s beautiful,” he smiled, “you’re a part of the lucky 5% to have ginger hair.”
“Actually,” I chuckled, “the lucky 2%.”

“Even better.”

***

We sat in the parking lot of a store meant for all the needs of a baby. Harry was putting on sunglasses and a hat, due to not wanting to be noticed while shopping for baby supplies with an unknown girl.

“Okay,” he spoke, “we can go now.”

I nodded and got out of his car. We both jaunted towards the shopping center. I really truly didn’t want him buying me anything- I didn’t want to be like that.

“Harry please let me split the check,” I begged.
“No chance,” he said, “it is my duty as a father.”
“It’s also my duty as a mother.”
“Just please this once,” he pleaded.

“Ugh fine. But I’m gonna make up for it,” I promised.

He smiled with victory and we continued our walk.

***

“What color wood for the crib do you think?” I pondered.
“I love that wood,” he said, pointing to a dark oak bed.

It was beyond beautiful. But a $349.99 of beauty, though.

“I love it,” I started, “but I’d prefer a cheaper style.”
He sighed, “love. Stop worrying about prices. This is our baby and I’m going to take care of it.”

“I just don’t need you paying so much for the baby. I don’t need a high price living because you have the money; I don’t want it either,” I said sternly.
“Too bad,” he whispered, “it is my job as a father.”

I let out a sigh and nodded my head. I’ll let it slide; but it’ll still bother me.

He called over an employee to get some help. “Hey love,” he said to me, “would you like to go over to the toys and get some?”

I nodded and flashed a smile. I walked away and then heard a gasp. The employee he called over had noticed who he was and she stood in shock.

I really don’t like this. I didn’t want to have to deal with all the bonuses of celebrities.

I took a deep breath and lead myself to the toy section. God what do I get?
I grabbed a shopping basket and slung it on my arm.

I felt a few of the trinkets as I walked past them. When my younger brothers were babies, they always liked the box more than the knickknacks.

“There you are,” Harry grunted behind me. “I got worried that you were lost.”
He chuckled quietly.

“They’re loading the crib in my car, and I decided to come back to help you,” He smiled.
“Thank you,” I sighed, “I was lost on what to get.”

He rubbed my shoulder and walked down the aisle with me. He grabbed simple things in doubles, like chewables and brightly lit trinkets.

“So I eventually will need to tell my mother and my sister and my band mates,” he whispered.
“Well I would hope so,” I chuckled.

“And I want you to be there,” he cautioned.
I stopped walking, “how would this happen?”

“Well,” he started, “I could have my mother host a dinner party for a new lady in my life and invite… well almost everyone.”
I sighed, “I’m okay with that I’m just… a little nervous.”
“And that’s perfectly fine love. When works for you?” He turned to look at some other objects that caught his eye.
“Sooner the better, right?”

“Yes indeed,” he started, distracted. “I think we need a bigger cart.”

He turned to me holding a large box that contained a play set, a crooked smile pleading me.
I laughed and agreed.

***

We were waiting in the parking lot as Harry called his mother.

“No- mum you can’t- mum no gifts please- no don’t call auntie- MUM! Please! Calm down!” He rushes.
I giggle lightly and he stuck his tongue out at me.

“Alright mom. Saturday..” he trails off and looks at me for approval. I shook my head ‘yes’ and smiled. “Saturday works. I love you too mum. You’ll love her I promise; o-okay. Bye love.”

He hung up and put his cell in the cup holder. “Let’s get you home lovely.”
He pulled out onto the road and turned on the radio.

Charlie Puth’s ‘Attention’ was drumming out his speakers. He sang along faintly, and honestly. I never thought I’d love someone’s voice this much. He may be a singer but god he can fucking sing. He fell on and off the notes so perfectly.

“What?” He chuckled.
I let out a deep breath, “you’re talented, Harry. Seriously talented.”

His cheeks slightly turned red, “thank you, Penelope.”
I chuckled softly at his humble manner.

The drive home was peaceful and warm.

***

He walked me up to my apartment and helped me carry the supplies we bought today. He walked to the back bedroom and dropped off everything.

My stomach started to soar with pain and I leaned against the counter to balance myself.

Harry walked back and saw my state, running over to me. “Hey- are you okay? Penelope what’s going on?”
“My blood sugar is low,” I panted, “in the pantry next to the fridge I need you to grab me the Saltines out of it.”

He raced to the cupboard and grabbed the crackers out. He held my hand and lead me over to the table, helping me sit down.

“Do you feel okay?” He asked as I ate.
I nodded softly. “Thank you,” I said between bites.

He smiled worriedly.
“So are you ready for the dinner tomorrow night?” He asked.
“I believe so,” I laughed, “but what if your mother doesn’t like me..?”

“That's preposterous,” he grunted, “she’ll love you.”
I sighed, “I really hope so, hun.”
