Camera flashes, red velvet carpets and people who can’t get over themselves is one or two of the things Harry hates the most. He never understood the concept socializing, especially when it involves fake smiles and thinking in the back of your head how horrible their suit was even if it wasn’t just to boost their ego. But for someone who hates it so much, Harry mastered it.
Shaking people’s hands, patting them on the back, giving a kiss on the cheek twice and many compliments being thrown out of the window. He approached the bar looking at his watch, 9:30, Louis was late. Suddenly the room came to a full stop, everyone’s head was turned to the entrance of the ballroom.

There stood a lady, one that Harry knew so well, dressed in a floor-length red silk dress, hair styled in a messy updo. How can someone be so beautiful yet be so simple? Harry thought. She had a necklace on her neck, it once belonged to Him, the platinum chain blending with her porcelain skin, a single teardrop diamond that Harry had custom made was catching the light, matching her smile. He moved away from the crowd so she could see him clearly and once she met his level, they both approached each other with smiles. Feeling up to the nines, Harry wanted to relive it all over again. He had never seen anything so beautiful.

“Breathtaking” Harry smiled as he offered his arm for her.

“You don’t look so bad yourself too Haz” She chuckled.

“Admit it you love me” Harry winked as he worked the room.

“I admit nothing,” She said, playfully rolling her eyes as she wrapped her arms around his.

“So where’s this prince charming of yours?” Harry asked grinning at Blair.

“He dumped me” Blair huffed. Harry stopped in his tracks to look at Blair, shocked.

“Yeah, yeah. Details later, let’s get drunk” Blaire pulled him towards the bar.

They stayed in the ballroom as they waited to Louis to arrive, enjoying the champagne and tea cakes being served. Laughing at Mrs. Robinson’s attire, Harry didn’t even notice that his father arrived with his brother Matt. Matt quickly spotted him and tapped his shoulder.

“Harry” Matt spoke, startling Harry and Blair.

“Oh,” Harry said, his wide smile instantly faded.

“Nice to see you again Blair,” Matt said as he pecked her cheek.

“Likewise” Blair faked a smile and excused herself to find Louis.

“Father wants to see you” Matt informed.

Harry wanted to escape again, but he knew that it would only make him a bigger coward in the eyes of his father. He could feel the whiskey and tea cakes turn on him but he only fixed his bow tie and followed Matt. His father was seated with Blair’s mother. Harry paid his respects as his father stood up to meet his level.

“Father” Harry spoke nodding down.

“My son” His father greeted him with a hug, Harry wanted to puke.

“Stay until the party is over, I have a very important announcement,” His father said, smiling for ear to ear and looked at Blair’s mother who mimicked the same expression. Harry became skeptical but didn’t act upon it.

“Sure” He replied with a straight face and excused himself to look for his best friends.

“Harry” Matt matched his pase and held on Harry’s arm to stop him from walking further.

“What?” Harry harshly brushed off his brother’s hold.

“Please come home” Matt pleaded, earning a sarcastic laugh from Harry.

“I don’t have a home, brother” Harry spat.

“When are you going to forget about what happened,” Matt said, his voice rising. “I am your brother Harry, I want you to be at home with us, with dad”.

” Do you really want to live with the person who is the reason why your mother took her life?” Harry snapped, tears immediately filling the rim of Matt's eyes.

Matt looked down, remembering every detail of what happened that day. Harry mockingly smirked at him.

“Guess not” Harry turned and walked away.

Blair and Louis saw the whole thing and followed Harry to the bar lounge of the hotel.

“Man…” Louis patted his shoulder than sat on the stool beside Harry.

“Not a word,” Harry said as he drank his whiskey.

Harry never needed consoling, he had dealt with his family matters alone for years that it made him feel numb, it didn’t hurt. But when his father gets involved it struck him to the bone, to the point where he almost felt like it was going to tear him into pieces. He looked at the glass of whiskey in his hands, playing with it before downing everything.

“Geez Harry, slow down” Louis snatched the glass from his hold, ” A little help Blair?” Louis looked at Blair who was preoccupied.

Blair preoccupied because a certain brunette caught her attention, she was waiting by the door only to be met by Nick. She wrapped her arms around him as they entered the ballroom. Blair couldn’t believe it, she got dumped over some common girl. Without saying a word Blair went back to the ballroom, leaving the two boys to drink to their heart's content.

Blair looked around the room for Nick, who is at a cocktail table sipping his drink the brunette was nowhere to be found. Blair took a champagne glass and went to his side.

“Nice to know you’ve moved on so quickly” Blair smiled sarcastically.

“Please Blair, it’s not like it really did hurt you” Nick kept his gaze on the people on stage, so did Blair.

“It didn’t. But what I don’t like is being treated like a fool” Blair spat.

“I’m a man raised by an established family, what do you think they’ll say if I kept dating you” Nick laughed,” Your dad is locked up in bars and your mom is what? On to husband number three?” He added not caring what Blair would felt

“I am-“Blair started to argue but Nick cut her sentence short.

“Soon to be irrelevant” this time Nick looked at her and leaned in to kiss her cheek,“Nice talking to you” and left Blair standing in the middle of the room dumbfounded.

Blair placed her glass on the table leaving a loud thud. Her hands soon rolled into fists as she took a deep breath, a single tear leaving her eye. She looked up to the stage as her mother presented awards for their foundation, the girl Nick came with was there taking a small certificate from her mom.

“Miss Claire Lyon, our foundation’s chosen scholar of the year” Her mother smiled as he shook hands.

Blair got more intrigued with the girl and opened her phone to text Harry and Louis, a few seconds later they arrived at her table.

“What did we miss?” Louis asked

“Not much,” Blair said, already planning a strategy in her mind.

Harry looked up at the stage and saw Claire, he thought that she looked familiar for a second and realized that she was the girl he almost ran over two days ago. She still had a bandage on her knee. Harry saw that she was holding a certificate, and her name was on the widescreen. Claire, His mind repeated as he read her name.

Harry snapped out of his thoughts as his father approached the stage, presenting a merger with their company and Blair’s. Harry and Blair looked at each other with knitted eyebrows confused with what is happening. Harry’s father soon took the hands of Blair’s mom, that's when Blair saw her diamond ring, a ring that was not given by her father.

“What the hell?” Blair blurted out.

“Elaine and I are engaged” William, Harry’s father, announced.

Soon after, all the press came forward to snap a picture of the couple, creating a frenzy in front of the once sophisticated event. Harry looked at Blair who was furious, her hand gripping the tablecloth tightly. Harry placed his hands on top of hers, she exhaled for a while and looked at him with worry in her eyes.

“Wow” Nick approached their table, clapping his hands,” That was a surprise. Were you in the dark with this too?” he looked at Louis and Harry.

He turned towards Blair and said, “I wish you could’ve given me a hint about them before I dumped you”.

With that Harry clicked grabbed Nick by the collar ready to throw a punch only to be stopped by Louis because they’re in public. Still grabbing him by the collar Harry shoved him backward away from Blair.

“I have to go,” He said. Blair grabbed his hand and called out his name, pleading him not to go.
“Don’t drink too much okay?” Harry smiled weakly towards Blair and left.

“I get that he’s shocked but how could he leave without saying goodbye to me,” Nick said arrogantly, Louis looked at him in annoyance as he continued to babble.

“Shouldn’t we be celebrating? Why is everyone so sad?” He chuckled.

“Nick…” Louis patted him on the shoulder and moved closer to him,” Shut your mouth if you’re not going somewhere with this talk” and gave him a death glare.

Blair turned to avoid the two boys standing with her, finishing another glass of champagne.

“Watch your tone Tomlinson, I was only saying this because I’m worried about you guys” Nick excused.

“What makes you worry about us?” Louis snapped,” What do you want to know? What would you have done differently if you had known?” He continued

“Forget it,” Nick said and turned to Blair,” I wonder why my family didn’t tell me this sooner. Had I known this, I would’ve thrown a much better party for your parents” He smirked at Blair who was already rolling her eyes and a sarcastic smile on her face.

“Are you seriously bragging about your family influence right now?” Louis said, bringing Nick’s attention back to him.

“Can’t you see she’s in pure torment?!” Louis looked from his wine glass to Nick.

“If you have eyes, look. If you had a brain, know when to be quiet!” Louis' voice boomed inside of the ballroom, everyone was looking at them, also getting the attention of Blair’s mom.

“That’s enough Louis” Blair whispered, ” Check on Harry, see if he’s okay”.

Louis hesitated when his eyes met Blair’s.

“I told you to go,” Blair said with authority.

“Call me if you need anything,” Louis said, giving Nick one last look before leaving.

I despise Blair more with each chapter. She is absolutely loathsome. Harry is a fool to hurt Claire for that way for someone like Blair. They deserve each other at this point. I hope they are miserable together and that Claire finds someone much better.

I don't if the kiss even meant anything to Harry since he said he felt numb. I just don't think I like Blair.
