Harry pulled up to the address Louis texted him, it was right by the docks of near Hudson. Louis was sitting on a fold-able chair with a fishing rod and a smile on his face. Harry did a mental face palm before sitting beside him. He realized that Louis picked an unusual location so that his father can't track him.

"Running away from your dad again?" Harry asked as soon as he sat.

"Yup, don't want to add more bruises to this beautiful face." Louis joked, he placed down the rod in front of him and looked at Harry.

"What?"

"Why don't you just ask Blair out?" Louis asked, not tearing his eyes off Harry.

Harry chuckled in return, "It's not that simple,"

"You two LOVE to complicate things, it's so simple. I don't know what the hell is stopping you" Louis said with exaggeration, his sarcastic smile was replaced with a serious look instantly. Harry was busy fiddling with his sunglasses, Louis slapped his shoulder to get his full attention.

"You do remember a little detail about our parents being engaged, right?" Harry then looked at him with one eyebrow raised.

"Fuck the excuses, seriously! So what?" Louis scoffed again, "didn't stop you from doing that bet"

"You kno-"Harry was surprised that Louis knew about the real reason for the bet.

"Yeah dipshit, and it's only making things worse Haz. You have to drop it, the more you're going to push Claire into this the more she's going to get hurt. Same goes for Blair" Louis's voice was stern, he was almost fuming but he soothe himself down.

"I've decided Lou, you don't need to tell me that" Harry said in a low - almost regretful tone.

"Good, I'm glad you have your head screwed around this" Louis patted his back, all Harry did was frown.

"You have to go Cee!!" Peyton shrieked as she held on to Claire's phone.

"I don't think it's a good idea," Claire chewed on the inside of her cheek.

"You left the poor boy in the middle of the ocean, without any explanation. Claire, at least tell him why." Peyton said.

"And what? So he could tell me more reasons why he wouldn't pick Blair, who obviously wants him!" Claire slammed the paint brush she was holding, "I don't want to be put in the middle of it Peyt, I'm so done with it" and plopped down on her bed.

Peyton sat down beside her, "Blair's the one messing with your head, don't mind her. I have a feeling Harry invited you out for dinner tonight so he could tell you what he really feels".

Claire only stared at the ceiling while Peyton nudged her, she held out her hand so Peyton could hand her back the phone. She read the message again.

Can I see you tonight? The Chariot at 7 - Harry

Claire sighed, and dropped her phone on the mattress. Two days ago she was bawling her eyes out because of him, but Claire figured it's time to give Harry two cents of what she really feels, she knew that whatever happens tonight will make her decide about the situation together. She grabbed her phone and texted him that she'll meet him there.

Peyton immediately picked out a dresses for her, Claire settled for the blue one from Peyton's selection and paired it with a black coat and heels with it. She was pleased with it, she felt in control. Peyton got a message from Louis asking her out tonight, but didn't give much details. All he said was to dress nice and the he will pick her up at six.

"Louis is taking me somewhere too," Peyton gushed, "We just saw each other earlier, he's so cute"

Claire smiled and hugged her, "Go, I have to get ready too. Love you!"

Peyton gathered her things and said, "Love you too, have fun tonight!" and left.

Claire was left all alone, she stared at the clock and felt like time was being slow on purpose. She was so ready to dive into it, but she was also confused about what she wanted out of it.

She grabbed her bathrobe and decided to take a long bath to kill time. By six thirty Claire was done getting ready, she went out of her apartment and walked past Harry's door wondering if he's at the restaurant already.

The restaurant Harry picked was not far from the apartment complex, the front of the house asked if she had any reservations and just like their past dates, Claire figured Harry had one under his last name.

"Um, Styles?" Claire mumbled, the guy checked his clipboard and smiled.

"This way ma'am, and please, let me take your coat" The waiter smiled again as Claire took off her coat and handed it to him.

The walked through many diners, they were all looking at her with curiosity. Claire suddenly felt out of place, she looked at the tables and saw many types of wine and food she doesn't recognize. She took a deep breath and collected herself, the waiter guided her to a private dining room, secluded with a divider that had gold flower engraved on it.

She was greeted by a pair of emerald eyes, who was at the very end of the twelve seater dinning table. Harry had no expression on his face, almost as if he was bored. Blair was seated on his right while Louis was on his left and beside him was Peyton.

The table suddenly felt like a bridge, one that she couldn't cross.

"Oh good, Claire's here" Blair looked elated, too elated for Claire's liking.

"Are we celebrating?" Claire asked and took a seat on the chair in front of her, which is the other end of the table.

All of them looked at Harry who scoffed, Claire focused on his eyes, her face immediately turned into a scowl. He had a smirk on his face and toyed with the rim of his Scotch with his finger.

"So you actually bought it?" Harry leaned back on his chair and crossed his arms, tilting his head up as like he was challenging Claire.

"Bought what exactly?" Claire snapped.

"Why do you think I asked you to meet me Claire? You came without questions." Harry's voice sounded like it was mixed with venom and one more syllable Claire might puke.

"To talk, and you out of all people invited me so I came"

"Good, you're smart after all. You look pretty" Harry stood up and going around the table, looking at various things in the room besides Claire. "Pretty, but uncomfortable."

"Excuse me?" Claire asked, getting furious by the minute.

"The clothes, my friends, the restaurant..."Harry smirked, and sat back to his original seat.

"I didn't ask for all this-"

"But you gave in anyway, of course you would! You're on a scholarship, you work deadly hours just so you could make ends meet, you walk all the way from the east side to go to school because you cant afford a cab" Harry laughed mockingly, "It's so uncomfortable watching you squeeze yourself into my world"

"Harry," both Louis and Peyton warned.

Claire was fighting the tears that was forming around her eyes, "S-stop this, this isn't you. Stop pretending to be mean"
Harry chuckled darkly, "But I am, Claire." he finally made eye contact with her.

"I'm tired of playing the good guy, let's stop this bullshit"

Claire instantly knew he was lying, then her eyes diverted to Blair who was sipping her wine with a smirk. "You don't need to do this, Harry please, I know you. Can we just talk in private?" Claire pleaded.

"Pathetic," Blair spat, placing down her glass of wine and looked at Claire, "don't you have any dignity at all?"

"Yeah, you're right. Maybe I don't, but what I know is that this is not the real Harry in front of me right now" Claire was crying at this point, she turned to Harry, "Do you not like me anymore?"

Harry was taken back at what Claire said, he was about to speak but Louis cut him off.

"You're just game" Louis blurted. Claire looked at him with more tears flowing down her face, Harry stared at her, he wanted to take her out of there but he decided.

This is something he needed to do, he would rather have her hate him than for her to love him despite it all. He had to endure it.

"Harry?" She sobbed.

"You're just a bet, in return for someone that mattered to me most" Harry said, he looked at Blair but his voice and facial expression remained neutral.

"So what Blair said about you two having feelings for each other that was true?" Claire wiped her tears away and looked at Harry who was looking down, "Look at me and tell me".

Harry gathered all the air he could muster and breathed out, "Yes, all of it.", he looked down again and grabbed Blair out of her seat.

"Are we done here?" He asked, only to be replied with Claire's sniffles. And walked out with Blair in his hands.

Claire's knees immediately got weak, Peyton and Louis helped her up but she snatched her arm away, "Don't touch me". Claire ran after Harry.

All that was running through her mind was that she needed the truth, not the edited version but the real one, she knew about his feelings for her, for one last time she needed to hear it.

The waiter was about to approach her to give her her coat but she ran out of the building and into the cold New York air hitting her skin immediately.

Harry and Blair were getting in the limo when Claire called out to him, her voice was shaking from the cold and from crying.

"Is it true? Am I just a joke to you?" Claire didn't try to meet Harry's eyes, she knew she was going to be disappointed. But she had to try, for the last time she wanted to try.

"Was I not clear back at the bar? Or do you want to make a bigger fool of yourself?" Harry smirked.

Claire grabbed his coat and stared into his eyes, "The truth Harry, tell me the truth." She sobbed.

Harry grabbed her hands and slid them off his coat like an insect leeching on to it, he looked at her for a moment. His eyes full of pity and regret, then he smirked. Harry stayed silent, the cold wind breezing through the space between as Claire waited. She was so numb she didn't even feel the tears streaming down her face. He couldn't stand seeing her so broken so he opened his mouth once again to break her already aching heart.

"You're just game, a bet. You never mattered to me"

//

"What the hell Louis?" Peyton shouted as she threw punches at him, Louis stood there taking it all in.

"Why did you do that to her, she was nothing but kind to all of you" Peyton continued to scream.

"This is who we are Peyton.."Louis said, almost a whisper.

He took her wrists and pulled her into a hug, "I'm sorry, I didn't know it would go this far"

Peyton sobbed in his arms as Louis caressed her hair, thinking of all the things he could've done to stop all of this from happening. Little did Peyton knew Louis shed a tear as he engulfed her deeper into their embrace.

Comments

I despise Blair more with each chapter. She is absolutely loathsome. Harry is a fool to hurt Claire for that way for someone like Blair. They deserve each other at this point. I hope they are miserable together and that Claire finds someone much better.

I don't if the kiss even meant anything to Harry since he said he felt numb. I just don't think I like Blair.
