Intoxicated.

E I G H T E E N

"Claire, please open up" Harry knocked Claire's apartment door for the fiftieth time.

Claire was curled up under her pale blankets that almost matched her complexion, pretending not hear the sad boy waiting by her door. She wanted to yell at him to go, to push him away but she didn't have enough energy to do so. Blair's voice kept repeating in her head.

"So much that our parents should never find out.."

Their trip would've been the perfect getaway, but it only made her and Harry's relationship sink. She knew Harry would be surprised that she left earlier than their original departure. The moment she stepped on the airport she got a million texts from Harry, Peyton and Louis asking where she was but all she wanted to do was leave. It was the right thing to do, she thought.

The knocks came to a stop and Claire bit her lip, tears were on the verge of falling from her brown eyes. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep. Harry went back to his apartment, he sighed heavily and sat on the leather sofa. He had so many questions in his head, he knew something happened on the boat that made Claire ignore him. All he could think of was that Blair had something to do with it. He buried his head on his palms and grunted out of frustration. He texted Louis to meet him at a bar and rushed to get out of the apartment.

He was the first one to arrive at the bar and settled on the stool, he ordered whiskey and waited for Louis. Moments after Louis arrived with Blair.

"Hey man," Louis patted Harry's back and sat on the stool beside him, earning a nod from Harry who continued downing his drink.

"Careful, its only 4 pm" Blair laughed. Harry diverted his eyes on Blair who had a smile on her face, he raised an eyebrow and scoffed, ignoring her.

He ordered another glass and continued drinking. Louis immediately felt the tension, his eyes diverted from Harry to Blair.

"So whats up man? Why did you call us?" Louis asked.

"I only called you" Harry spat. Blair looked at Harry with a shocked expression.

"I didn't know I needed to have an invite to hang out with my best friends" Blair fought back, setting down her champagne.

"You do now" Harry murmured. Blair suddenly felt agitated and turned her hands into fists to control her anger, "What's your problem?".

Harry saw her fists and decided not to add anymore tension between them, he decided that its not good for their reputations, and their parents if they fought out in public.

"I'm just a little out of it, I'm sorry" Harry covered.

"It's the jet lag man. Gosh! I miss the beach already," Louis exclaimed and smiled towards Blair and Harry. Blair was glaring down towards Harry while his eyes are fixated on his drink. Louis gulped.

"I bet you did bro, you spent a lot of time with Peyton in the water" Harry chuckled.

"She's fun to hang with, plus she's curious about everything. She's so easy to prank" Louis exclaimed.

They chatted away happily not caring what Blair might hear or say, and drank. Blair looked at the two boys in front of her, and with a click in her head, everything was clear. This was not how the bet was suppose to go, she's losing them. She was a third wheel, like an outsider. It didn't felt like they belonged to her. She felt her head aching so she ordered another glass and a shot, and after the next three the two boys noticed that Blair was on to her fourth. Blair was about to down the shot when Harry took the shot glass from her.

"Harry can you take her somewhere to sober up?" Louis said, as he patted Blair's red cheeks.

"I'm fine," Blair slurred.

"C'mon let's get you home" Harry spoke softly, but his eyes held a certain look. Blair immediately fell into his arms like a wilted flower.

"You gonna be fine, Lou?" Harry asked as they helped Blair out of the bar.

"Yeah, I drove here remember?" Louis held up his keys and patted Harry on the shoulder before going to where he was parked.

Harry took Blair to the crash pad because he know Blair's mother would throw a fit if Blair came home drunk. He placed Blair on the couch, careful not to wake her. Blair's phone suddenly rang, Harry immediately took it from her bag since Blair flinched at the tone. It was her mother calling but he declined. He opened her bag to put back the phone but then a bottle of pills caught his attention. It was labeled as Temazepam, Harry knew for a fact that its a strong type of sleeping pills because his mother was taking it when she was having trouble sleeping at the hospital. He closed his eyes and took at deep breath before chucking the bottle of pills into the trash, he sat down by the foot of the sofa where Blair was at and rested his head on the cushion.

"You threw it away didn't you?" Blair spoke, almost to a whisper, but enough to startle Harry who is in deep thought. Harry turned his body towards the couch, resting his cheek on the cushion while looking at Blair.

"You're taking it again?" Harry asked, but his eyes never met Blair's who was already looking at him.

"I had trouble sleeping again,"Blair frowned,"I didn't mean to Hazza" Blair sat straight and caressed Harry's hair while looking down at him.

"Don't," Harry warned. Blair took her hands of Harry and cleared he throat, she had a sad expression on her face while Harry remained blank. As if he was numb, as if Blair was just a stranger.

"How did we get here..." Blair drifted.

"You tell me, you're the one who made it all happen" Harry sarcastically replied.

"You've been like this since we were at the bar, what the hell is your problem?"Blair wanted to scream at him, she wanted to push him away from him. She knew exactly why but she couldn't bear to absorb how Harry was acting. Blair stood up to get herself a glass of water.

But Harry yanked her and pulled her up to the nearest wall, "What did you tell her?" Harry screamed as he pushed Blair onto the wall.

Blair laughed wickedly and held her hand up to trace Harry's jaw, "Why so angry, Romeo? It's not my fault she didn't understand what I meant"

"If I lose her because of what you did-"

"She's not yours, to begin with, Harold. She's a toy," Blair argued, "Quit acting like her knight in shining armor, you're the devil that will give her the poison apple in this story" Blair pushed Harry's hands away from her and went back to the couch.

"Why did you scare her away? I was doing what I was supposed to do!" Harry was angry at this point, he sat on the coffee table to meet Blair's level.

"YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO FALL IN LOVE WITH HER" Blair argued back, this time tears were streaming down her face, "You were supposed to play with her, toy with her emotions just like the rest".

"I am not, Blair. I'm not in love with her"

"Don't lie to me or to yourself, I knew the moment you took her to the trip."Blair wiped away her tears, "I saw you, I saw how you are with her. And I knew because that's how you are with me".

Silence filled the room, Harry could hear Blair's teardrops landing on the leather material of the couch. He sighed and looked at the broken angel in front of him. He knew he had to make a decision, he knew he had to leave someone, he can't be greedy. But he knew he couldn't leave without any explanation.

"Ever since kindergarten you were the person I thought I was going to marry, people around us... They just saw it, and I did too. I wanted to always be there for you, take care of you, save you from anything that could possibly harm you." Harry took her hand, caressing all the scars on her palms and wrist from accidents that occurred after her breakdown.

"So I vowed, to myself, after what happened to your dad, that I will be here to do all that. Beside you. I wanted the best for you, in all things and I wanted to be a part of that. You deserve all good things, I wanted to be one of them.." Blair looked at their intertwined hands, his was filled with warmth filling up her cold ones. She felt more tears forming around her eyes, it was like her heartstrings were being pulled right from under her. This is it. This is what she knew best, she knew Harry was saying his goodbyes.

"But you never gave me a chance Blair, every time I try you always have something to tell me otherwise. But I love you enough to endure that and kept trying, I tried so much that I even went on to do this damn bet just so I could have you. But instead I got something else, I got a chance to love someone without having to do something in return to get her to love me back. I had something real." Harry's voice broke in mid sentence because his emotions was getting to him, "And now, I became someone that I once vowed to protect you from. I ended up hurting you and that is something I didn't want to do, but I don't know how to move on from this, I'm stuck Blair. How can I love you? Without hurting you? Without hurting myself? Without hurting Claire?"

"Stop.." Blair bit her lip as she cried further.

"No you need to hear me out Blair, you can't keep shutting me out!" Harry shouted, Blair started punching his chest but he remained calm. He figured that he should let her take out her anger so they could resolve what was happening. Blair kept shouting at him and punching him but he took it like a bullet and stood his ground.

"You're such an asshole, you're an asshole! I couldn't... I couldn't" Blair cried, Harry then took her fists and held them down. The space between them became non existent as Harry planted his lips on her's.

This moment was something Harry wanted for many years, but Blair never gave him a chance. It went on as a joke to them, something only the two of them understood. But now it struck something in him, like a seal was opened. Harry was more confused than ever, but kissing Blair made him forget, like a drug it made him numb. He pulled her closer by the waist, Blair's hand crept up to his nape on to a fistful of his hair. He liked it, but he felt so guilty for liking it. Blair knew both of their hearts weren't in the right place and that kissing each other was more of an escape, but for her it was enough, she had him right where she wanted him and that was right by her side. She pulled away to catch her breath, she met eyes with Harry who did the same. His eyes were filled with hurt as he stared at her, he wiped the salty tears away from her cheeks and kissed the corner of her mouth, then fully taking her lips once more.

Next on Intoxicated:

"Is it true? Am I just a joke to you?" Claire didn't try to meet Harry's eyes, she knew she was going to be disappointed. But she had to try, for the last time she wanted to try.

"Wasn't I clear back at the bar? Or do you want to make a bigger fool of yourself?" Harry smirked.

Claire stayed silent, the cold wind breezing through the space between as Harry waited. She was so numb she didn't even feel the tears streaming down her face. He couldn't stand seeing her so broken so he opened his mouth once again to break her already aching heart.

"You're just game, a bet. You never mattered to me"

Comments

I despise Blair more with each chapter. She is absolutely loathsome. Harry is a fool to hurt Claire for that way for someone like Blair. They deserve each other at this point. I hope they are miserable together and that Claire finds someone much better.

I don't if the kiss even meant anything to Harry since he said he felt numb. I just don't think I like Blair.
