Live On Tour

Basel

"OK, tell me truthfully...do you like this one or the gold one I wore last year?" Harry asked her as he opened his arms and did a spin, the glitter of his black Gucci suit sparkling in the fluorescent lights of his dressing room. She looked him over for a few seconds and came to a conclusion.

"This one."

"Yeah, I agree."

"Why did you ask for my opinion when you already knew which one was better?"

"Because I always need my best friend's opinion, Reigan." Harry smiled and turned back around to the mirror, fixing the lapels of his suit. She sat back more comfortably in her seat and got lost in her thoughts.

Reigan had known Harry for over a decade. Their mums had been friends so that was the start of the strong friendship that had grown between the two of them, and the great thing was, even after The X Factor, Harry had kept in contact with Reigan as often as he could, even if it was just DMing her on Twitter when he was travelling the world. He didn't want to lose his best friend and she certainly did not want to lose hers, they were like two peas in a pod and it honestly surprised Reigan that no rumours of them dating had arisen, even before Harry confirmed that they were childhood friends. She was glad of that, she didn't want to be romantically linked to him. Being his best friend was stressful enough.

"I'm nervous. Can you believe it?" Harry's voice broke her out of her mind. She clutched her chest in fake surprise.

"No! Really? Harry Styles is nervous? That's impossible."

"Yeah, yeah, that's so funny, Regs."

She loved that nickname and boy, she loved to tease him. That's what they did best from being so close, they could be sarcastic and joke around and just be themselves, and that's why Harry loved having her around, it's why he invited her to come travel with him on his arena tour. He barely saw her last year when he did the smaller venues nor did he have much time to spend with her over the Christmas period so he couldn't think of a better way for them to reconnect and maybe become even closer.

"Really though, I'm nervous. I mean, I've played to more people than the number out there but not on my own, this is a different ballgame." Harry's voice cracked a little and Reigan was shocked. She hadn't seen him this anxious before. She could only imagine how peculiar it felt for him to go on stage and perform to thousands of people without his fellow bandmates. Despite having a wonderful band of his own, Reigan knew that he missed touring with the boys and doing a solo tour was something he had to get used to. This year, he was playing to huge arenas, screaming fans left, right and centre. Maybe that's why he brought me along, for some home support.

"I know it must be scary, but just think, I'll be in the audience and your mum's going to be there in Paris tomorrow night. You have home with you, Harry." Reigan smiled and stood up out of her seat, rubbing his shoulder. He turned to her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, pulling her into a hug.

"Thanks, Regs."

"No problem, and don't worry, you'll do great out there. You always do." She rubbed his back to comfort him just as they released the hug. Harry tamed his curls, which had grown some, with his hands and took a deep breath.

"Right. Showtime."

The concert was a huge success and Reigan had enjoyed every second of it. She had been a few rows from the front which still gave her a great view of the stage. She had watched her best friend sing, dance and smile his heart out as the fans screamed for him. He had played two songs which had not made it onto his album, Reigan had heard both in rehearsal and she loved it, she hoped, for the fans' sake, that Harry would release studio versions of Medicine and Anna. The band had been on perfect form, Harry had fed off the energy from the crowd, he started with Only Angel and ended with Kiwi, a better arrangement of the setlist if you asked Reigan. She was so proud of him and she told him that when she met up with him backstage after the concert.

"See? I told you you'd do great!" She laughed as they shared a warm tight embrace. Harry held onto her, his arms wrapped around her body to keep her close. He had seen her out in the crowd, singing along and dancing, having a great time, and that's all Harry wanted to see from his fans or friends or family.

"I'm sure my nerves showed." He chuckled.

"Only a little but hey, look how much the fans love you." Reigan smiled and grasped his arms, smiling widely at him.

"Seeing all those flashlights on their phones, so many of them...it's overwhelming, their support is everything to me. I love them all."

"And they adore you." Reigan added.

"I saw you dancing and singing." Harry smirked and she blushed, slapping his chest.

"Shut up."

"You a fan of my tunes?"

"I'm your best friend, Harry. I kinda have to be." She shook her head and laughed. But best friend or not, of course she loved his music. It was so him. From the slow songs like Sweet Creature and From the Dining Table to the hard rock ones like Only Angel and Carolina, he made every genre his own and Reigan found that so inspiring. He looked like he was born to be up there on the stage, born to perform to that many people, she saw that he loved it and he had openly expressed before that touring was his favourite part of this job. And there was nothing better than live music.

"Favourite song of mine?" Harry asked.

"You can't expect me to choose! How dare you!" Reigan gasped, refusing to answer.

"Just one. Come on, Regs." He chuckled so she gave in.

"Alright...Woman."

"Really?" He cocked an eyebrow.

"You seem surprised."

"Didn't expect that answer. I thought you would've said Two Ghosts or Sign of the Times." He said.

"You thought wrong then."

"Why Woman?"

"What is this? An interrogation? I love the song, it's catchy and it sounds better live. I just enjoy the song, Harry." Reigan laughed. She had loved Woman from the start, it was just different from every other song on the album and that's all she had to say about it.

"OK, OK, I'm just glad you actually like my music."

"Well, I have good taste." She said with a smile.

"Indeed. So Paris tomorrow, yeah?" Harry winked after Reigan told him she was going to head back to the hotel before the flight to France.

"Yep. Let's see if you've learnt any more French."

"Oui." Harry smiled cheekily. Reigan laughed again and bid him farewell as she left the arena. Well, I think this is gonna be fun.
