They Don't Know About Us

Don't defend him

Lexi’s P.O.V.

I did the one thing to help my mind off things; I changed into my running clothes and went slowly slipped out of my room. “Donneven,” Belle’s voice echoed all around the house. “It’s fucking twelve degrees outside!” she yelled. I rolled my eyes, and went out. Running always calmed me down. I ran whenever I was sad, or angry or really happy. Before I knew I was sweating profusely, my feet sore and burning, but I didn’t stop. Tears were freely streaming down my face as the photo played again and again in my mind. I finally stopped myself, out of breath; I plopped down on a bench, and sobbed loudly. God knows how long I was there, because by the time I reached home, twinkling stars lit up the dark night sky. I slept cuddled in Harry’s hoodie that night, soaking it wet with my tears.

Harry’s P.O.V.

“Haz, we’re up in fifteen,” Lou said walking into the room. “Haz?” he asked quietly this time. “Yeah?” I said and turned around so that he wouldn’t see me, quickly wiping a few tears that had escaped. “Baby cakes?” he said walking towards where I was facing. “What’s wrong?” he asked searching my face for answers. “I-it’s n-nothing,” I choked. “Harold Edward Styles, you do not lie to me. What’s wrong?” he asked gravely. “L-lexi,” I mumbled. “Wh-What happened,” he was the one to stutter now. “Sh-she br-broke up wi-with me,” I finally said the words, and dropped to the floor as more tears streamed down my cheeks. “Huh?” he asked confused. “Last night… She thought I and Taylor slept together,” I explained him. “But that’s not true,” he argued. “EXPLAIN THAT TO HER!” I screamed letting frustration get the better of me.

“Let’s get this concert over with, and then I’ll talk to her, Alright?” he said helping me up and giving me a hug. I nodded rubbing my eyes and walking towards the stage. That concert would be the worst I put on in my entire life, the lads kept taking my lines, because I was at the verge of breaking down.

“She’s not picking up,” Liam said calmly. I punched the wall in frustration trying not to yell at him. “I’m going for a run,” I told him as calmly as I could, and without waiting for an answer I left. “Hey, Harry,” I turned around to see Taylor. I groaned in frustration, “Listen, Taylor. I’m over you. We’re done okay. So keep your fucking distance!” I yelled. She cringed at my harshness. I ran a hand through my hair in attempt to calm myself. Taylor was a really nice girl, we didn’t click together when we dated, but she was a good friend and I felt bad yelling at her. I took a deep breath before speaking, “Lexi broke up with me because she thinks I slept with you,” I said quietly. “Oh My God, Harry I’m sorry. If I hadn’t been so drunk. Then… Should I talk to her?” she asked hopefully. I sighed, “That’s not a good idea. Thanks anyway, Tay.” She nodded and went to her room as I went outside.

The next few months, were the worst of my life. Whenever the boys tried talking to Lexi about me, she would hang up or make an excuse. I wasn’t able to sleep throughout the night, because whenever I closed my eyes. My angel’s beautiful face popped up.

Her stormy gray eyes.

The dimple on her left cheek.

Her musical laugh.

The way her eyes crinkled slightly when she laughed.

Lexi’s face when I promised her forever—her cheeks flushed, looking at me with a gaze filled with love.

I threw my clothes in a bag. Trying not to think about the fact that if I go to the States I’ll have to face Harry too. Just keeping in my mind that I’m going for Lou’s birthday, because he’s my brother. Yes, that’s why I’m going, I told myself. I looked at myself in the mirror and slowly took off the ring on my finger. A tear rolled down my cheek as I unclasped the chain on my neck and then put it in my bag. I pulled my phone out to text the girls I was leaving, then went through a list of new missed calls, texts and voice-mails from Harry.

“LEXI!” Perrie and Eleanor squealed as I turned around to face the two girls. “El, Per!” I answered hugging both of them. “We missed you so much!” they said simultaneously. I nodded as we moved towards the boarding. Eleanor nudged Perrie mouthing something incomprehensible, I raised my eyebrows looking at them. “Uhm…Uh about…Haz,” Perrie said looking at anywhere but me.

“About him?” I asked acting unfazed, trying to hide the fact that I’d been crying myself to sleep every night. Refusing to look the least bit affected, though my chest constricted every time I heard his name. “Lex, he didn’t do—” El started.

“I’m not asking for an explanation,” I said flicking my hair. “But—” Perrie tried again. I ran a hand through my hair, “Please,” I pleaded. They nodded as we checked in.

I sat brooding in Lou and mine’s shared room. Louis’s phone rang and Eleanor face flashed, I picked it up sighing, “Lou, we’re at the hotel. Would ya lads mind carrying our bags,” Lexi’s voice said. I didn’t dare to say a word, knowing if I did she’d hang up. “LOU! LOUIS!” she yelled. I heard her cursing for a few more minutes as a smile took over my face.

“OH MY GOD. MY HAZZA IS SMILING!” Lou yelled at the top of his lungs, as I quickly dropped the phone. “T-the girls… They’re downstairs,” I mumbled stuffing my head in a pillow. “WHAT?!”

“Yeah, they’re downstairs,” I repeated.

“Oh my god!” he said running out of the room. I groaned and closed my eyes trying to get some sleep. But only Lexi kept playing in my mind.

“Haz, Open the fucking door,” Lou yelled from the other side. I stood up running a hand through my hair trying to look a little presentable. “HAZ YOU LOOK HORRIBLE!” Eleanor yelled. “Thanks El,” I grimaced rolling my eyes, and turned to face my best friend—the bed. “I’m sorry Hazza,” she ruffled my hair. I mumbled something incoherent. “I tried talking to her, but she’s not ready to listen,” she said softly. If someone asked how many sister I had, I’d say two. “Thanks,” I mumbled. “C’mon Haz you’re the annoying little brother I never had,” she said hugging me. “Uh…thanks?” I asked unsure. Little brother’s good, but annoying?

I walked out of the room leaving the two alone and went to Niall’s without knocking, I opened the door. Liam, Dani and…Lexi were there too. They didn’t acknowledge my presence, and I dodn’t bother to let them know, too busy looking at her beautiful features. The way she laughed but behind her gray eyes I could see a hint of sadness. “Haz!” Niall said indicating me in. Lexi’s body stiffened visibly as she fumbled for words.

“Hey,” I helped her out.

“Hi,” she said and made an excuse about freshening up leaving the room. I dropped on the couch as tears pricked my eyes.

Lexi’s P.O.V.

I walked out of the room, only to be bumped into some blonde—Taylor.
