The Enemy [17+]

C H A P T E R 8

With a heavy heart and guilty conscience, I sluggishly made my way back into my hotel room where Hunter laid in bed. I figured he was sleeping, so I kicked off the heels that didn't match my loose fitting pajama set and searched for a clean set of clothes.

The lights were out inside of a lamp on my side of the hotel bed that was dimmed to keep the room dark. I slipped on a chemise and stood at the feet of the bed, watching Hunter's breathing. He laid on his side, eyes closed.

"You're not sleeping." I told him. He exhaled, rolled onto his back and sat up in the bed. His blonde eyelashes looked back at me.

"I was wondering where you went. You left in the day and now you're here at 2:00 am." Hunter told me as if he was informing of the bullshit I already know I did.

"I didn't want to be around you anymore Hunter. I'll be honest, I really didn't." I bravely said, risking the chance of reigniting our argument before.

"I didn't want to be around you either, but I thought we'd reconcile things at least by 7:00." Hunter squinted at me. I shook my head, looking up at the ceiling. Images of what I had done ran through my head, and I felt it was wrong to feel so emboldened.

My bare feet padded on the beige carpet of the hotel room toward Hunter.

His toned upper half was revealed as he rested his back against the dark wood headboard, his lower half covered by the gold Egyptian silk duvet that looked shiny more than it kept you warm.

His golden curls matched the fancy duvet and bed set, it also matched the decorative pillows we threw from the bed onto the floor.

Finally, I stood in front of him on his side of the bed. He looked at me, I looked at him. I took his hand that rested on his lap and held it. He held my hand and left a small kiss on it, then turned it over to leave one on my palm.

"I'm sorry." Hunter choked out softly.

"I am too." I reassured him. I kissed his lips and he kissed mine, and then he pulled back.

"I can't believe it." He said in shock.

"What?"

"You taste like alcohol."

"A girl can't drink?"

"You don't drink."

"Well I did tonight."

"Or your lips touched someone who does." Hunter suggested. "Who?"

"No one." I lied. No matter what, I couldn't allow Hunter to know what I had done. I crawled into the bed until I was straddling him. All that was between us was tension and that cold ass Egyptian silk duvet.

"I want you." I said as I let my fingers fall down his body and washboard of abs. "I need you."
I assured him as I left a kiss on his lips, leaving my lips inches away from his so they can linger. "I love you."

"This isn't an Elvis song, you can't just walk out on me everytime we have a fight and then make-up." Hunter contradicted.

" So what do you want to do?" I asked. "Where is this going?"

"I forgive you." Hunter answered. I smiled as he wrapped an arm around me, rolling us over. The sheets were everywhere, and he left small kisses up and down my neck.

"Now, let's make up for the lost time." He said, his full lips brushing against my skin.
