Pride

I’ll Bounce Back

Just like a weed, if you try to get rid of Melissa, she’s going to come back with a vengeance. If Tomlinson thinks telling some boys to rape her is going to chase her away, he’s got another thing coming. What a dick. What a fucking dick. She’s going to show him just what she’s made off.

Some girls would give up when they are assaulted. They give into their fear or shame, but some don’t rest until they get their revenge. Melissa would rather belong to the latter group. She doesn’t want to give in, she doesn’t want Louis to win. She isn’t going to let him.

Like every morning, the students call her all kinds of things as she walks towards the classroom, but for the first time, Melissa doesn’t pay them any attention. If they want to be horrible so desperately, so be it, but she isn’t going to let them get to her. Today, she’s ready to fight.

Everybody stops talking as Melissa walks into the classroom. All eyes are on her as she walks towards her desk and sits down. While everybody watches, she pulls her notepad and pen from her bag and lays them on the desk in front of her.

There’s a whoosh, something is coming towards Melissa’s head but this time she’s prepared. Getting egg out of her hair was a nightmare, she doesn’t want to have to go through that again. Instead of her head, the egg collides with a fly swatter. With a mean grin, Melissa turns to the surprised face of her attacker. It’s a boy with blonde hair who has a really oafish face. He’s probably someone who does everything someone else with more power asks him to do. He’s got ‘minion’ written all over his face.

“You’re really pathetic, do you know that? Thinking the same thing will work on my twice.” She lowers the fly swatter and lays it down on the desk. Her hand disappears into the pocket of her jacket. “You know, you might want to try throwing something a bit harder. Something like this.”

The blonde boy doesn’t have time to react as with a hard and accurate throw Melissa smashes the Rolex on his wrist with a tennis ball. The glass is probably cracked. Daddy is going to need to buy him another expensive watch.

“Hey, that was very expensive,” the boy exclaims angrily, but Melissa isn’t listening. All of her attention is on the buy walking by the classroom. She would recognize the feathery brown hair anywhere.

Anger propels Melissa from her chair. Without a word, she runs out of the classroom and onto the corridor. She comes to a standstill and yells Louis’s name. As he turns his head at the sound, Melissa runs towards him and before he has to time to realize what’s happening, she slaps him in the face and then knees him in the groin. With a groan, he hunches forwards, hands on his crotch. “What the hell,” he hisses between clenched teeth.

“That’s for being a dick. You’re an insect, do you know that” she yells, eyes shooting fire as she looks at him. “You’re not a man at all. You’re pathetic and not worth more than the dirt under my shoe. ”

“How dare you,” Louis hisses. He straightens his back so Melissa and he are eye to eye. “I’m worth much more than you. You’re nothing but a poor person who likes to pretend she’s rich.”

Melissa doesn’t want to argue with Louis. She just followed him to slap him and give him a piece of her mind. Now that she’d done that, she’s not going to stick around to hear him spout his ignorant views.

She turns around and runs away. Heart hammering in her chest, she returns to the classroom. Even though she’s afraid of what the F4 will do to retaliate, she’s still glad she did this. It’s time someone put Louis Tomlinson in his place. He thinks he owns the school because his parents practically do. Most of the school funds come from the Tomlinson family. That’s why nobody else has ever dared to voice their real opinion of Louis.

While Melissa learns about Algebra, Louis is sitting in an empty classroom with his three friends. Harry, Zayn, and Liam are talking amongst themselves, but Louis hasn’t said a word ever since they’ve set down. All he’s done is stare out of the window with a scowl on his face.

“Are you ok?” Liam sounds concerned. “Speak to me, Louis. What’s got your panties in a knot?”

“He’s probably just sulking. He doesn’t like it when people don’t respect him, remember?” is Zayn’s contribution. His eyes are focused on the white paper that’s slowly filled with doodles by his pen. “He wants to people to either fear or adore him. His mother or sister don’t, so other people need to.”

Liam shrugs his shoulders. Zayn is probably right, he usually is about these kinds of things. Who wouldn’t think so when you look at the dark-haired boy, but he knows a lot about people and how they work. “So, Louis over here has not only a sister complex, he also has a mother complex. Just like me.”

“Well, if Louis is only sulking, it’s time for me to get to move on. I need to prepare.” Liam hopes off of the desk he’d been sitting on. “I have a date tomorrow with a married woman. She’s great in the sack, but unfortunately, her husband is a right jealous bastard. But, oh well. Pain is but a casualty in the war of love. Guys, I leave Louis in your capable hands.” Without waiting for an answer Liam Payne walks toward the door. When he turns around Harry waves him goodbye, as does Zayn but his eyes are still on his drawing. Louis is still staring out of the window. Liam shakes his head with a chuckle before turning around again and leaving the room.

After all her classes have finished, Melissa decides to looks for Zayn. She wants to thank him for rescuing her. The first place she looks is the stairwell, but as she opens the door, she sees the stairs are empty. No Zayn.

Well, then she has to look elsewhere. No problem. At least, that’s what she thinks at first but after having looked on the school grounds for half an hour, she still hasn’t found him. She’s about to give up when she suddenly hears someone sing.

Their voice is beautiful. They sound like they might be Zayn, so Melissa follows the voice, through the field of grass towards the small forest she hasn’t looked yet. Could it be Zayn’s hiding between the trees?

It is indeed Zayn singing. He’s sitting up against a tree, his back towards the school and head tipped back. Not wanting to disturb Zayn because she wants to hear his beautiful voice for a few minutes longer, Melissa stalks towards Zayn silently.
Or at least she tries to be but Zayn does hear her walk closer and he turns his eyes towards Melissa as his voice falls silent. She freezes on the spot.

“You sing beautifully,” Melissa tells him in awe. She forces herself to move towards Zayn. She only has to take a few steps before she can fall down on the grass next to him. Her heart is thumping against her ribs as she smiles at him.

Please, don’t let him send her away.

“Can you please stop talking? There’s nothing special about me singing.” Zayn looks at Melissa with narrowed eyes. “My voice isn’t beautiful.”

Melissa is a bit taken aback at Zayn’s harsh tone. It hurts a little bit. She doesn’t like Zayn being mad at her. “I think your voice is beautiful.”

“Is that way you decided to disturb me? Because you want to give me false compliments?”

“No.” Melissa shakes her head. She lowers her head and starts fidgeting with her fingers. “I wanted to thank you for saving me, yesterday. I don’t know what the boys would’ve done to me if you hadn’t intervened.”

“Now that you thanked me, you can go. I would appreciate it if you would leave me alone.”

“Yeah right. Sure.” Melissa mumbles, her cheeks turn the color of roses. She gets back to her feet. “Hopefully I see you on the staircase tomorrow.”

“Don’t count on it,” Zayn tells Melissa as he closes his eyes again. “I’m going to look for another place you haven’t discovered yet and go there so I won’t have to deal with your chatter.”

If Louis Tomlinson would have said anything like that to Melissa, she would’ve given him a piece of her mind but this is Zayn. Zayn is Melissa’s kryptonite. He’s her one weakness.

So, she doesn’t fire back. Just walks away.
