Meet Me In The Hallway.
37
I cradle my new born baby boy in my arms. Sitting on the rocking chair in his nursery. Harry setting his cot up.
"How about Noah?" Harry suggest for his name. "Noah, like from the Notebook?" I can't help but laugh at my husband in this blissful moment. "You did say I could pick if he is a he, and he is." Harry beams picking up his son cradling him.
"Yea because I thought you would pick a twenty first century name, not a biblical one."
"Then I guess Laden is off the table?"
Harry helps me up we both hover the cot in awe of our son.
"Mick, for Mick Jagger?" I look at him and shake my head. I fix the blanket across my nameless son. "I thought maybe after my dad?" I look back at him. "Shit, sorry."
"Language H." He takes my hand. "Your right I'm sorry." He kisses the side of my head. "It's ok." I rest my head on his shoulder.
"Hey Vince," Harry announces. I'm stuck, "No, no I change my mind, his not a Vince." I shake my head.
"How about. V.J?"
"V.J?"
"Vince, your dads first name, and James his second. Plus that way he won't be bullied at school."
"V.J. I like it." I smile kissing Harry softly on the lips.
Harry takes the monitor into our bedroom next door and we eventually fall asleep.
"Are you sure, love you just got out of the hospital." Harry says getting out of the car. "I wanna do this."
He takes VJ out of the car seat and holds him in the blue bassinet. I make sure he is all rugged up.
walking along the footpath I feel a sense of odd comfort being here. "There he is." Anthony comes up to us taking a look at his nephew. "Look honey." He points. "Hey princess" Harry greets his niece. Anthony and Kylie are here with their two year old daughter Mia.
"Say hi to VJ." Mia takes her tiny hand caressing VJ's cheek.
"So, sorry I am late. Oh my is this precious Vj?" Lou comes. Harry shows him off to her.
"Thank you for doing this love." Lou hugs me. "It needed to be done"
We all stand together at the cemetery at my father's grave and just appreciate one another and the time we had left with him. After that day Harry and i found him in the kitchen he was slowly deteriorating. Doctors said he only a couple months, but he lasted a year. We appreciate and hold onto those final precious moments we were all so gracious to have.
He will never meet VJ slowly I am accepting that. A leaf blows over landing into VJ's bassinet A tear falls down to the floor. "Hey daddy."
I know he is watching over us all.
So far, this is interesting. And I like it
Well done
