Chapter four

When I woke up I found myself lying on a black sofa. It was soft and large. I now had a loose-fitting t-shirt on top of my underwear.

Looking around I see another man, but not one of the ones from the auction. He was much smaller, yet bigger than me. He had a gun on the table next to him and he was asleep, snoring.

I stand up and walk over to the door, as quiet as I could I turn the handle.

The door opened. My eyes grew wide and I let out a rush of air.

I shift my body so I can look back at the man, he was still sleeping, so I open the door more and start to walk out but quickly stop myself.

Thousands of thoughts running through my mind telling me to just leave- and I push every single one of them to the side, turning around and heading for the gun.

His snores grow loud and I try to walk faster fearing that at any moment, he would wake.

Telling myself to calm down, I grab the gun off the table and walk to the door for the second time. As I walk, I check and make sure a clip is in and turn the safety off. Anything could be on the other side of this door to greet me.

Taking a deep breath in I slip out the door, shutting and locking it behind me. I find myself in a hallway. There are paintings hanging and there is a box of tissues and a vase with flowers in it resting on a small table.

I go right because it’s a dead-end anywhere else I go to turn.

I walk slowly with the gun out in front of me, I have a strong grip just in-case someone reaches out and tries to take it from me.

After I make two rights I find myself at a large staircase. Hearing multiple voices at the bottom I make a quick decision to head down but go in the opposite direction of the sound.

Before I get half way down the voices grow closer and I know they are heading out the room they are currently in. I scamper up the stairs and go down into the west wing of the house that I have yet been into. Looking back, I can see four shadows walking up the stairs, my hands are now shaking. Praying they go to the east wing.

Every door I pass I jiggle the handle to see if I can get into the room but with the end of the hallway nearing me I can see my silent wishes won’t be granted.

Taking a shaky breath in, I can hear the men banging on the door to the room I’m supposed to be in. I go back to the stairs and make a mad dash down them. I look both ways and see the front door just to the right.

I run as quietly as I can and turn each lock, opening the door and running. I don’t try to shut the door and I don’t make an effort to look back.

There is a huge gate surrounding what seems to be the entire house, quickly I come up on it until its only about 100 meters in front of me. I don’t have shoes on and I don’t know if its electric. I stop for a split second and pick a stick up and I put the safety back on the gun. I wouldn’t want to blow a hole in my foot while I’m trying to escape, would I?

About a foot away from the fence I throw the stick to see if it would vibrate or move in any way out of the ordinary. Nothing. I practically jump up the fence and start to climb as fast as I can. Before I know it I’m at the top, not even taking the time to see where I’m at.

I climb halfway down the backside and jump off, fleeing myself off the road and into the woods. I am in no way athletic so running is not my strong hold. Before long I hear men shouting and cars starting up.

I go deeper into the woods and continue to run, hiding myself from any cars that pass by from the road.
After what seems to be about 10 minutes of running I look down and my feet are bleeding terribly and I have cuts all over me.

I continue to run but the tiredness in my bones is consuming me whole and all I want to do is stop and rest.

I look around as I stop to catch my breath and see light coming into the woods up ahead on my right. I headed in that direction because it seemed fitting. Hell anything in the opposite direction of the road seemed fitting.

I took off in a slight jog, not wanting to walk but I barely had an energy left in me to run.

I make it to the light and start to crawl to the edge of the woods.

There is a clearing, with a road going down the middle of it, and about two or three houses on the other side of the road.

I decide to stay in the woods and watch everything from my spot. Thinking back to all the movies I used to watch I know I probably shouldn’t go to any of the houses because the bad guy is always the good guy to the people or he is really just a bad guy everyone is afraid of.

I wasn’t sure which one Liam was to them or if he even actually knew those people. Either way, I’m not taking the chance of getting sweet talked by some strangers and then the next thing I know Liam busting through the door dragging me out.

I lean against a tree, still secluded and hidden from everything outside of the woods but open to where I could see.

Sighing, I can clearly tell this is going to be a long night.

I love how this isn't the typical "oh my [insert relative here] is selling me to be a slave to 1d. Great let me just pack my bags." I like how the main character is a fighter and I love how you're doing something different!

@YouLoveWhoYouLove
I wanted this story to be different than all the other ones like this, they get boring, it's all the same stuff.
Thank you!

Haha I'm glad you're not making her the typical runaway character that makes dumb decisions.
