Tattered Secrets

Breakfast was heart-warming with the amount of jokes and easy conversation we had. There were moments where he would do something and would trigger a flashback of the night before, my brain blistered with images of me screaming Harry’s name. It didn’t help that I kept growing red like tomatoes and he pointed it out occasionally whilst throwing suggestive jokes my way.

So when it was time to go it took every ounce in me not to pounce on Harry and fuck him again as he pouted, looking so adorably cute my heart tugged at its strings. Just when I thought he couldn’t be more perfect he gave me his number and told me that if he doesn’t hear from me ever again he’d be the utmost unluckiest guy in the world.

Going directly home wasn’t an option since I looked like I was ready to sell my body on the market. My dress was not the most church friendly outfit. “Hey Pops, I was just wondering if I could swing by I have a favour to ask you?”

“Sure my parents might still be asleep though so use the back door please.”

Smiling I let out a breath I was holding, “Thank you so much! See you in a bit.” It took me a bit of orientating to get from Harry’s apartment to the correct bus and reach Poppy’s house, my brain made a mental map of the route in foolish thinking that I would come here again.

He’s too old for me.

When I arrived inside Poppy’s house I was relieved that her parents were probably still asleep in their rooms since I wasn’t prepared to have an awkward conversation with them at this moment. My smile was awkward as Poppy looked at me with shock and pointed towards me.

“What in the actual fuck are you wearing?”

“I can’t go home looking like this my parents will freak.” She looked me up and down again with a disgusted look on her face before pointing to her wardrobe silently. “I just wanted to dress up a little for Noah.” I had hoped she would see through my lie alas she just shook her head as I pulled on a jumper and a pair of her black leggings.

“Can’t believe you’re still with that prick, when are you going to break up with him?” My eyes burned with hot tears but I forced them back, turning towards Poppy with a façade of happy girl with a smile that didn’t quite reach my ears and tears that willed to escape.

Poppy had an irritated face and she kept playing with the ends of her pink pyjama top. “I love him, Pops.”

“Whatever, he’s nothing but a giant dick, don’t come crying to me when he breaks your heart I’ve warned you plenty of times.”

“He won’t Poppy, he’d never do that” I choked out, giving a cough as I averted my eyes “anyways I need to get home before my parents kill me.”

She bid me goodbye, giving me a hug and I swear I almost broke down crying when she had embraced me but I promised myself I wouldn’t cry until I was truly alone, just like I felt.

When I got home my parents were in the living room waiting for me with such disappointment in their eyes. I lied my ass off and told them I fell asleep at Poppy’s house after watching a few movies which is why I never texted them about it. They gave me a ten minute lecture and threatened to confiscate my phone before I trudged up the stairs and closed my bedroom door behind me.

My body kept shaking with sobs that I silenced with my hand. With the faintness of strength I had left in me I crashed onto my bed, sobs and weeps bawling from my body into my pillow. At some point I had fallen asleep with my heart broken and my soul crushed.
