The Contract
An Awful Dream
*Present day*
Dani’s P.O.V.
I woke up in a familiar hotel. This is where we got married the first time?
“Luke?” I questioned.
“Yes Mrs. Hemmings?” He smirked.
I looked around the room. My wedding dress was on a chair across the room and his tux was on another.
“Where are we?”
“Well we are on the beginning of our honeymoon.” he smiled. Is this really Luke? “You took a pretty hard fall last night, so the doctors checked on you.”
“Last night?”
“Dani, are you okay? Should I call the doctor again?” He rushed to my side.
“No, no. I’m okay. I just had an awful dream. I guess it seemed so real that reality confused me.”
“What was it about?”
“I dreamt up a whole alternative universe where when we met we didn’t get married. We signed a contract of a relationship. Then management sent us on these ups and downs to challenge us. You had affairs. I had affairs. Then because of everything I got sent to this sick place where I was to be brainwashed, and you didn’t try to help me. Then I woke up.”
“Whoa, Danielle. That would never happen. You are the most real thing to ever happened to me. I have never loved someone as I have loved you. I will never leave you.”
“I love you, Luke.”
“I love you too.”
He held me and kissed me. This is the real Luke. My Luke.
“Hey! The doctor left a note for you and said I couldn’t open it. It’s been killing me. Open it pleeeeease.”
God, I missed him.
“Okay, okay. Where is it?”
“Here.” He said, handing it to me.
“Wow. You really were dying, Mr. Hemmings.”
I slowly opened the letter, just so he would whine some more.
“Mr. and Mrs. Hemmings,
Congratulations on the wedding. After checking on Mrs. Hemmings I am happy to give you this news. You two are going to be parents! Yes, that’s right. Danielle, you are about a month pregnant. Best wishes, Doc.”
“Wait-- We’re-- Oh my god.” we squealed together. Both of us began crying while hugging each other.
“I have never been so happy.” Luke beamed.
“I’m speechless.” I smiled back.
He kissed me passionately.
“I’ll be back from tour just in time for the baby to be here. And I promise to be at every appointment I can, even if I’m halfway across the world.”
“Luke.” I laughed.
“I promise.”
“Okay.” I said, “Who do we tell first?” I asked.
“The boys are going to go nuts!” He exclaimed, “But let’s start with our parents.”
“Deal.”
“Hey, Luke.”
“Yes, Dani?”
“I want you to know, I get how unconventional this all is, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Ever. You are the best adventure life as given me.”
“I wouldn’t change a thing either, Wifey.” he replied with a sweet kiss.
I rolled my eyes playfully as he got up to call Liz. I got up to call mom and looked in the mirror. I lifted my shirt.
“Hi baby Hemmings.” I chuckled to myself. “Mom? Hi. I have some news.”
