Styles Triplets

Kat: The Show

Honestly, Kat was a gossip.

It had only taken her a lunch period to find out that Harry was presenting some artwork at some fancy gala downtown on Saturday at 8 o'clock. She had pretended that she didn't care, and she really wanted to be indifferent, but ever since the kiss, Harry had been on her mind constantly. She could still remember how much she had been grinning when he flipped over the desk and stormed out. After that, people had been buzzing about it.

Despite the fact that she had done nothing wrong, Kat felt as if she had provoked Harry's wrath somehow. He would give her a death glare while she was walking from class to class, and because of it, she had become the talk of the school.

People wondered whether or not her and Harry were dating, and she honestly wasn't sure that she wanted to anymore. Harry was hot, and sort of funny, but he was bipolar as hell. He would kiss her, open up to her, and then he would yell at her and storm off.

But Kat did say that he was a control freak, and when he lost control, he'd lose his mind.
She leaned against a wall by the lunchroom, holding a purple flyer another gossip named Frankie had given her. She read the information about the art gala carefully, ignoring the footsteps coming her way. It was just someone entering the lunchroom. There was no way they were coming to talk to her.

"What the hell is that?" She heard a familiar voice demand and her eyes looked up to meet Harry's. He wore all black with a violet satchel hanging from his shoulder.
She was at a lost of words for a second. "Pardon?"

He reached for the purple flyer in her hand but she held it away from him. His jaw clenched and he began grabbing at it, only falling a half second short of it. This amused her, so she laughed, but that only seemed to piss him off more.

"Where did you get that? Tell me." He ordered in an irritated tone.

"From a person," She said. "Why do you care?"

"You're not actually going, are you?" He asked.

"I'm not into art," She replied. "You never told me you drew."

"I don't tell a lot of people a lot of things."

She kept reading the sheet. "Well, that's sad."

"I know, it keeps me up at night." He yanked the sheet out of her hands and suddenly she felt a sharp pain in her finger, making her hiss in pain.

His eyes were suddenly wide and alert and he grabbed her hand, turning it over to examine it. On the right hand index finger was a medium cut. It was already bleeding and Kat felt anger rise up inside of her.

"You didn't have to do that!" She exclaimed. "You dick!"

He rolled his eyes. "Hold still. I have something for that."

She wanted to argue but couldn't, so she just stood there as he reached into his satchel as he pulled out a small box filled with band aids. He dragged her towards the water fountain and ran some cold water on the cut, making her wince. After he placed a band aid on it, he smirked and suddenly kissed her index finger.

She blushed, "Um, what are you doing?"

"Making you feel better."

"More like making me vomit."

"Yet you haven't," He said, looking her in the eyes. "I didn't know you were clumsy."

"Very." She said. "But that wasn't me being clumsy. That was you being an impatient asshole and giving me a cut on my finger."

"That cut is literally the smallest thing I've ever seen. Don't be a baby."

"The smallest? Haven't you seen your self-esteem?" Kat asked and he frowned, making her regret it. Why did she always have to self-sabotage?

Instead of retaliating with a sharp comeback, he simply grabbed her hand, and his touch was soft. Suddenly she felt her finger sting and she looked down to see that he had ripped off the band aid.

He turned on his heel and walked down the hall, whistling a tune she didn't recognize.

Kat decided to go to the art gala. On Thursday when she had gotten home she had gotten a letter inviting her for free. She couldn't help but giggle and walk inside, wondering if this was Harry's work, his way of apologizing for earlier.

She put on her best clothes, discovering that people were supposed to wear gowns. She borrowed one from Tatiana, which turned out to be a golden princess dress. She pulled her hair back into a bun and did her makeup so that she looked pretty enough. And to finish it off she put on some of her mother's perfume.

When she arrived to the show she was at first intimidated, because she felt like she was going to mess up. She walked carefully in her golden heels to make sure that she didn't trip and fall on her face, making a complete and utter fool out of herself.

She walked up to the bouncer as fearlessly as possible. However when he saw her he simply squinted his eyes and turned to a page in his clip board.

"My name is Kat." She said. "Kat Joyce."

"Are you Kat?" He asked.

She blinked, "Yeah. I am."

He stepped aside. "Your admission has already been paid."

Inside, the gala was magnificent. The decorations were a mix of silver and white, and hung up on walls were different paintings, each with their own uniqueness. In another room were the sculptures, which held their own elegantly.

Kat was taken aback by how fancy everything looked. There were even waiters running around with some fancy food she didn't know how to pronounce. She wasn't hungry though. She pretended to look at the art but in reality she was looking around for Harry.

After more looking around, she spotted him. He was dressed in an all black tuxedo, looking extremely fine. Next to him was Marcel, who wore a white button down shirt, a black blazer, and khakis. Kat didn't want to approach them, because she didn't want to bother them.

She turned away and decided to look around more. She kept walking when she saw Edward, who defiantly wore casual clothing. She walked over to him and saw that he was looking at Harry's painting.

It was a beautiful woman in a flowing white dress holding a multicolored rose. As Kat neared the painting, she noticed that the woman had a shocking resemblance to her. She sucked in a breath and Edward turned around to look at her. When he saw her, nothing in his expression changed.

"It's you." He said.

She shrugged, "No one special."

"Apparently." He said sarcastically, rolling his eyes.

She walked closer to him. "Is that me? Do you know?"

"Of course it's you." Edward snapped. "Harry is obsessed with you." When Kat stared at him he rolled his eyes again. "God, you're stupid."

She blinked, "What?"

"When he's at home he wears your bracelet." Edward said slowly, as if she were an idiot. "He hates you but he's falling for you. You've changed him. Yesterday, he actually felt pity for a cat I ran over."

"You ran over a cat?!" Kat demanded.

"A shame it wasn't you." Edward growled. "Stay out of my house."

"Or else what?" She asked. "Who the hell do you think you are?"

"I'm Edward Styles." He said, taking a step towards her.

"And you're the guy Ari has a crush on." She laughed, and he paused. "You're the guy who she always says has a good heart and who's nicer than he looks. You're the guy who she holds on such a high pedestal. I wonder what she would think if she knew you were threatening me." Edward was the one silent this time. "My name is Kathryn Joyce, and believe me when I say that I am not one to mess with either. Ari thinks that you're a nice guy, so stop being so hellbent on proving her wrong."

"Whatever," he huffed, storming past her.

She sighed. Great, another Styles triplet who hated her guts. First her and Marcel had gotten into an argument, now her and Edward. God, what did her friends see in these guys?

"I suppose the same thing I do." She whispered.

"Talking to yourself?" A voice asked and she gasped, turning around to to see Harry standing behind her, holding a glass of champagne. "I heard those were the first of many signs of being a sociopath."

She smiled, "Creeping up on people? I heard those were the first of many signs of being a sociopath."

"What are you doing here, Kat?" He asked, sounding tired.

"Didn't you send a letter to invite me?"

"Why would I do that?" He asked with a sigh. "Dammit."

"What is it?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Get out." He pointed towards the exit.

"Why?" She asked.

"Because I said so, peasant." He said viciously. "Now get out or I'll have you removed."

"Harry," said a booming voice, and Harry closed his eyes while Kat looked past him.
Standing a few feet away was the mayor. He looked a lot like his sons, but there was something about him that made him a thousand times more intimidating.

"Don't be rude." Mayor Styles said. "Who is this?"

"A nobody." Harry said, and Kat frowned.

"Then why is she here?" Mayor Styles demanded.

Harry looked Kat dead in the eyes. "I have absolutely no idea."

"Fine." Kat said. "I'll leave."

She began walking out but Harry grabbed her arm. "Kat, wait." She looked at him, expecting an apology but instead, he poured the champagne he held down her dress. Gasping, she jerked away from him, feeling tears sting the back of her eyes.

"Get out." He said, and he almost sounded like he was begging.

Her hand came across his face, making a sharp sound that silenced the entire room. She had tried to slap him before, so she didn't know why this received the reaction that it did. The empty glass fell from his hand and Mayor Styles' eyes widened.

She then hurried towards the exit, marking that night as the worst night of her life.
