Cambridge (Part III)

Delia’s P.O.V.

”Well, that was weird,” I commented, after Rachel had slammed the door behind her as she pulled Louis into his room.

Harry just nodded in response, still staring at the door curiously, as if it held all the answers.

”So, you never got a chance to answer my question,” I reminded him, when Rachel and Louis didn’t return right away.

He looked confused for a minute, before remembering what I had asked him.

”About Rachel and Louis? Right, er, I mean, it would be really weird if they were dating, at first anyways,” he began, meeting my eye. “But, honestly, I kind of think they’d be good for each other,” he admitted.

”I don’t know how he feels about her right now, but last year, when he told me about them, he was in love with her, really in love with her, and I think he’d treat her well,” He finished, shrugging, as if it wasn’t a big deal.

However, I knew it would be a big deal to Louis, Harry’s approval.

”You should tell him, you know, that you’d be okay with them dating, it matters to him a lot,” I told him.

We didn’t really talk about much else before the potential-couple themselves came back out of Louis room, both looking a little flustered. When Harry demanded to know what had happened, Rachel began to explain the situation to him, leaving Louis and I to chat amongst ourselves.

”Can we go for a walk? I want to talk,” I asked him softly, wanted a chance to apologise properly.

He agreed, and with a quick nod to Rachel and Harry, who was now looking furious at Ashton showing up to Rachel’s room, we were off.

”Louis, I’m really sorry about earlier,” I told him immediately, once we were out in the cold air.

He shrugged.


”It’s okay, you actually helped a lot, Rachel and I talked through it and we’re in a good place now,” he admitted.

“I’m glad, but still, it wasn’t my place to say anything to her about you, I think I just pissed her off even more than before, and that’s definitely not what I wanted to happen,” I groaned, linking my arm with Louis’.

He he chuckled softly. “Yeah, I don’t think it was exactly the best strategy for winning her back,” he agreed.

”I know, I just, I know how much you like her, and if she got back with you then maybe I wouldn’t feel so guilty about ruining her relationship with Ashton,” I rambled. “And maybe Ashton would finally stop trying to win her back, and we could just be together,” I added.

Louis sighed.

”It’s not as simple as that, and you know it. Even if Rachel were to move on with someone else, that doesn’t make it okay that you slept with her boyfriend. And that won’t necessarily mean Ashton will get over her, trust me on that one,” he smiled sadly.

”I guess they do have a lot of history, it’s just that if he loved her so much and they were really the perfect couple, then why would he have slept with me?” I questioned, more to myself than anyone.

”I know that he felt something when we were together, it’s why it kept happening, there’s something between us, he just won’t admit it to himself because he chased Rachel for so long that letting her go didn’t seem like an option,” I continued.

“They meant a lot to each other,” Louis agreed.

”So? He can love her without being in love with her. Honestly, I feel like he was so swept up in chasing her that he didn’t actyally ever stop to consider if they were good for each other or not,” I stated.

When Louis looked confused, I continued.

”Well think about it, they were friends for like a year and a half before they got together, and it worked perfectly. He says he was in love with her the whole time and always wanted it to be more. Yet they’re together for only a few months and he’s already sleeping with someone else,” I explained. “How does that make any sense?”

Louis shrugged.

”I honestly have no idea. But deils, trust me on this, he’s not worth it. If he wants to keep chasing Rachel then let him, if he doesn’t want you, you can’t force him to,” he pulled me closer as he spoke, his tone comforting.

”Oh please, you’re one to talk. It’s been like well over a year and half since you and Rachel ended and you’re still chasing her,” I scoffed.

”I’m not - I’m not chasing her. I’m just-“ he cut off, searching for words for a few seconds before sighing. “Honestly, I’ve no idea what I’m doing,” he admitted, dejectedly.

“Well, on the bright side, Harry’s given you his blessing!” I exclaimed happily.

His eyes widened at that.

”What?”

”I may have had a little chat with him,” I admitted, unable to contain a grin.

”Delia!”
