He was never appreciative of what he had. Never thanked anyone for what he had. Always had an ego, just like all the other rich boys in his neighborhood. He took everyone and everything for granted. But when you get someone/something who's compatible with you, who understands your every feeling, emotion, accepts you with all your flaws, mistakes anything and everything, and when they slip away from your fingers only do you realize the true value of that thing/person.
The same was with him. He'd found the girl of he'd been waiting for for so long and he'd driven her away. Driven her away because of his secrets. His demons. His lies. And when she left, only did he understand the true meaning of love. The true meaning of having someone in your life who understands you in totality. She understood him.
But above all that- she loved him.
The biggest problem of all. He didn't think he was worth being loved. This flaw of his- made him who he was. In his eyes, he was a monster. But in her eyes- he was a lover. He could be loved.
He lived in denial. He'd lost his one and only confidant and ever since, he thought that whoever came in his life deserved better. But what he didn't know was that, they had him. There was nothing that she wanted to change about him. Nothing.
He didn't love her like his last. He loved her like there was no future. No end to what they had.
She gave him her all. She knew what she was getting herself into, but she knew it was worth it. To change him, she had to change herself. Not for him. But for herself. She wanted him to see the good she saw in him. The love that he never knew he had. The truth in his lies that he told. The essence of it all. Was in her. She was the one.
