Lavender & Roses

V

Sadie was sitting silently in the passenger seat staring out the window at the street lights. She seemed so at peace for the moment. I watched her as best as I could while trying to keep my eyes on the road. I wanted to reach over and place my hand on her thigh or take her hand in my own. A low key way of saying that I wanted her to be mine. But I couldn't do that. I had really only known her for a few days. And they way Niall was reacting to my desire was making me think I should wait, that I really needed to get to know her first.
"Harry, are you okay?" Sadie asked leaning over a little. I nodded with a smile, keeping my eyes on the road. "Are you sure? You've got this strange, pensive look on your face." She informed me.
I laughed, "I'm fine. I'm just trying to focus on where I'm going." She nodded and went back to looking at the lights. I started watching her out of the corner of my eye again. She wore a small smile as she looked at all of the things we passed. It was cute how child like she seemed at the moment. I leaned against my door and rested my head on my fist while watching her and the road. I began thinking about taking her to the places that I had seen that were absolutely gorgeous just to see the look she wore now. I wanted to take her to the Eiffel Tower or anywhere in Paris, New York, LA, Chicago. Anywhere that was dazzling. I smiled to myself just thinking about her dragging me around Chicago like an excited little girl, gripping my hands and tugging my arms. I made the mistake of laughing out loud at the thought.
Sadie snapped her head around to stare at me with worried eyes, "What? What's so funny?"
I shook my head, "Nothing, Sade."
"No. You were laughing. Why were you laughing?" She inquired leaning closer to me.
I stared into her eyes as we came to a red light, "You are really cute with the way you're looking out the window." She blushed and bit her bottom lip. She turned her face from mine. I choked on another laugh seeing her be so embarrassed. She stayed silent for the rest of the ride to her flat.

I pulled up to Sadie's building. She looked at it like it was a kind of menace. Then she saw the doorman and groaned loudly. I chuckled and shifted the car back into gear. She stared at me confused.
"Where's the parking garage?" I asked gently.
"Over on that side?" She pointed off to the left of the building. I nodded and pulled into the drive. I located the parking garage quickly.
"Do you have a guest spot?" I inquired.
She nodded, "Yeah, right there next to my car." I smiled when I saw her little red Audi. I nodded and pulled into the spot. Once I turned the car off, Sadie turned to me again. "Why are you parking and stuff?" She asked softly.
"You obviously don't like this building or the doorman. I'll walk you up." I was trying to make her feel more at ease about just going home. She smiled a bit and nodded. We both climbed out of my car with ease then started for the main door. "So why don't you like the doorman?" I asked quietly.
"He hits on me all the time. I've lived here for a year and he still doesn't take no for an answer." Sadie grunted at me. I then had an idea.
"Put your arm around my back." I instructed her calmly. Sadie gazed up at me like I was nuts. "Put your arm around me." I repeated. She did as told. I draped my arm over her shoulder and pulled her close. "There. And I'm gonna call you "baby" and you're going to act like I'm the funniest guy you've ever met."
"You're going to make him think you're my boyfriend?" Sadie asked a bit shocked.
"As much as it sucks, most guys won't stop if a girl says no but no way will they disrespect another guy by hitting on his girl, soooo...Yes. We are going to make him think that." I replied honestly. Sadie agreed but was blushing madly. I tugged her even closer as we approached the door. "Make it look like I'm saying something funny or cute." I whispered in her ear with a tiny smirk. She giggled and covered her mouth with the back of her hand.
"Good Evening DeeDee." The doorman spoke politely with a professional voice.
"Hello Declan." She replied sweetly.
"DeeDee's guest." He gave me a nod. I unwrapped my arm from her shoulders but she kept her grip on my waist.
"Harry." I replied, holding out my hand for a formal hand shake. He shook my hand with a tight grip, to make me feel a bit inferior. I quickly put my arm around Sadie again.
"DeeDee, the manager asked that I inform you of a few break ins this afternoon. She would like you to check all of your belongings when you get upstairs. Make sure nothing is missing." Declan stated.
Sadie was stricken with fear as she replied, "Okay. Thank you, Declan."
"I can check on you later if you're not feeling safe?" Declan offered with a bit of a smirk.
"Not necessary, mate." I grinned at him. Even though she hadn't said anything yet, I had a feeling she was going to ask me to stay a bit longer. Declan's eyes held anger.
"Well, if you need anything DeeDee. Just call down and I'll come help." Declan stated kindly to her. This guy had nerve.
"Again, not necessary. Goodnight, Declan." I stated with a mean tone. Declan said goodnight to Sadie but not me. As I lead her into the building I could feel his eyes boring into our backs. I turned my head a little to see him glaring at me. I then smiled down at Sadie before kissing her forehead lightly. Declan looked even more annoyed with me. I chuckled as we entered the lift.

I stepped into Sadie's small but cute apartment. Every decoration was as eccentric as she was. There were brightly colored things but also a lot of black and white. Her sofas looked so comfortable too. I saw lots of pictures of Niall, his parents and his brother. Sadie turned to me with an embarrassed expression.
I laughed, "Yes, I'll stay."
She exhaled, "Thank you." I laughed and shut the door, flipping the lock. "So, um, what do you want to do?" Sadie asked with a nervous smile.
"Film?" I suggested. Sadie grabbed my hand gently and pulled me toward her living room. I smiled at the fact she was touching me freely. Yesterday, she never would've done that. Earlier in the night she had to think about it. Sadie led me over to the sofa. I sat down with a sigh. "Wow. This sofa is so comfortable." I laughed leaning my head back.
She giggled and removed my jacket, "Yeah. I spend a lot of time on my sofa so I need a good one." She hung the jacket up on the rack near the door. She sat down on the other end of the sofa. "What would you like to watch? I have just about everything." She inquired reaching for the coffee table. I shrugged. She opened the drawer and pulled out three very large CD cases. "Um these are all of the movies I have." Sadie announced setting the cases on the table.
"Where are the actual cases?" I chuckled.
"Oh they're in my guest room closet. Having them out here was rough. I didn't like that I had four bookcases out here. It annoyed me. The room looked too cluttered." She answered shyly. "If you wanna know what one is about, I can just look it up." Sadie said holding up her phone. I scooted closer to her and started to flip through the cases. "You do have everything." I laughed again.
She nodded, "When Niall first gets home, he stays here because it's smaller and reminds him of the bus. So we watch a lot of films and he just lays around. It's nice to see him relax."
"It's nice when we get to." I muttered. Sadie placed her hand on my back for just a moment, like she was attempting to comfort me. "How about this one?" I asked pulling it out of the sleeve. I had picked "Friday the 13th". Sadie nodded and took it from my hand. She took a few moments to turn everything on then slide in the DVD. She returned to the sofa as the trailers started. "Um, do you want anything? A drink? Snacks? Blanket?" Sadie inquired nervously.
"Niall didn't happen to leave any clothes here did he?" I asked quietly. Sadie nodded looking confused. "Can I have them? If I'm going to stay, I'm not sleeping in my jeans." I laughed.
"Oh shit, yeah!" She shouted jumping from the sofa again. She ran toward the hall. I chuckled at her reaction. She was just too cute. I looked around the room curiously while I waited for her. She was so interesting. Her decorations were all over the place. She had a painting, a poster and brass wall hangings. Her painting was a brightly colored landscape. The poster was of Jim Morrison. And the wall hangings were sparrows.

After what felt like forever, Sadie returned to the living room. She held a pair of shorts and t-shirt in one arm and blankets in the other. She smiled weakly at me and came toward me.
"Here you go. I think these will fit you. Niall bought them a little bit big but they should work." Sadie informed me. I nodded and stood to take them. "And here are some blankets. I don't know how many you like or what kind of fabric you prefer." She thrust all of the items at me.
I laughed, "Any one would've been fine." She frowned a little. "But just in case. It is December in London." I said trying to salvage the moment. Sadie smiled brightly again. "Um, I'm going to change, like right here. So..." I stated throwing the blankets onto the sofa.
"Oh, I'll leave. I'll get some drinks and stuff." Sadie blushed before leaving the room as quickly as she could. I laughed quietly when she came back toward the living room with her hands over her eyes. "I'm going to pajama myself as well." She scooted into the hall again. I quickly changed into the gym shorts and muscle shirt Sadie had brought to me. When she walked back into the living room, I was thankful the shorts were extremely baggy. She was jaw dropping. Her yoga shorts were well fitted, hugging her bum and thighs. Her tank top was plain and simple, black. But the way it hugged her breast and torso was killing me. Her hair was pulled up into a messy ponytail, exposing her tattoo more. I let my eyes wander her arms. She had a lot of tattoos, maybe as many as me or Louis. She had one on her thigh as well. She was absolutely gorgeous. "What?" Sadie asked shyly.
"N-nice tattoos." I stammered a bit.
She looked at her arms and smiled, "Thank you." She pointed to my arms, "You too." I gave a single nod. "I'm going to get drinks and snacks for real now." Sadie entered the kitchen. I sat down on the sofa and sighed heavily. How was I going to make it through the night with her looking so beautiful? Seeing as much of her skin as I had was driving me crazy already. I scolded myself. Sadie needed me to take it slow. I had to show her I cared first. She returned to me with a smile. "Here you go." She handed me a beer. "And there's this too, if you don't want the beer." Sadie held up water bottles before setting them on the coffee table. "And some crisps. And sweets." She said placing two bags on the table beside the water bottles. I chuckled and nodded. Sadie plopped onto the other end of the sofa and pressed play on the remote. I shifted the way I was sitting so my desire wasn't obvious to her. Sadie grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around herself. I sighed thankfully.

We were well over half way into the movie. Sadie was terrified. I could see it in those icy blue eyes. She was hiding her face in the blanket and yelping every few minutes.
"Sade." I whispered. "Sadie." Her head snapped over. "Come here, scaredy cat." I teased motioning her over. She quickly moved across the sofa and into my arms. I wound my arms around her tightly while she rested her head on my chest. I pulled the blanket she'd been using over us. Just then on the movie, Freddie popped out. Sadie screamed and buried her face in my chest. I laughed quietly and held her tighter.
"I can't believe you're making me watch this before bed." She grumbled.
"We'll watch another one. You can pick it." I responded sweetly. She nodded against my chest. As the girl in the movie started screaming, Sadie snuggled closer to me with a whimper. I kissed her hair, "It's almost over, baby." I heard her breathing stop for a minute. I then realized what I'd done. I'd called her baby. I shrugged it off and called it a subtle hint. I wanted her so dropping little hints was a good idea, right?

Sadie sat up and glared at me, "No more scary movies at night. Only during the day."
I nodded, "You got it. You pick now." I motioned to the cases in front of us. She shook her head. "What do you want to do? I know you couldn't sleep if you tried right now." I laughed. Sadie grumbled then looked through the movies. She smirked as she grabbed one.
"We're watching this." She announced. She had chosen "Something Borrowed". I groaned quietly to make her feel better but I really didn't mind. It was a cute film. After Sadie placed the disc in the player she sat down beside me but didn't cuddle with me like before. I frowned a bit. She was warm and soft; I liked having her so close. Sadie looked at me, "Can I ask you about your tattoos?"
"Only if I can ask about yours." I replied cheekily. Sadie pulled her legs up on the sofa and turned to me. "Which do you want to know about?" I held my arms out to her.
"How about this one?" She pointed to the Hebrew on my arm.
"It means Gemma. That's my sister's name." I answered quickly. She nodded. I pointed to one on her forearm, "What is that?"
"Its the Egyptian Anhk. It symbolizes life." She answered softly. "And this one." She pointed to the A on my shoulder.
I smiled widely, "My mother. Anne." Sadie made a face that told me she thought I was adorable. "This one?" I touched her other arm. She stared at me blankly. "I know it's the Gemini symbol." I chuckled. "But why do you have it?"
She sighed, "Because nature has a twisted sense of humor." I lifted my eyebrow. She smiled weakly, "Another time." I nodded slowly. "And these here." She reached out and touched my collar bones.
"My mum's birth year and my dad's birth year." I replied. Once again I got the 'how adorable' look. "This one." I touched the lyrics on her arm above her anhk.
"I really love The Doors and Jim Morrison. It's from Wild Child." Sadie grinned.
"What does it say?" I inquired leaning in.
"With hunger at her heels and freedom in her eyes. She dances on her knees, pirate prince at her side." Sadie recited. "I'd like to have my own pirate prince one day. Some one who reminds me of Jim, for all of the right reasons." She smiled a little looking over at her poster of Jim Morrison.
"Sadie, I feel like we're going to be really close friends, so I feel like I need to tell you..." I began. Sadie gazed at me with anticipation. "That's fucking creepy." Sadie rolled her eyes and huffed. "Seriously, Sade. That is weird."
"To you." She snapped at me. I frowned and whispered an apology. "I've got two people that understand me, Niall and Jim." She mumbled.
I grabbed her hand and smiled at her, "I want to try." Sadie's angry eyes softened and she smiled a little. "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I was just joking around."
"I'm sorry I snapped at you." She muttered scooting closer to me.
I shook my head, "Don't be. Tell me about all of your tattoos." She nodded and started on her other arm.
"My mum's birth month flower. Maura's flower." She pointed to them. "Niall's flower." She pointed to the one one her shoulder. "Naill's favorite lyric." She pointed to the words on the back of her arm. "My favorite lyric." She motioned to the one on her shoulder. "The Greek letters for my name." She said showing me the back of her other arm. "A rose with my dad's birth-date." It was just below her anhk. "And then my tiger." She showed me her thigh.
I chuckled and pulled up the leg of my shorts, "My tiger." She giggled loudly. Our tigers were on opposite legs so when we were looking at each other the tigers were on the same side. "What about the one on your neck?" I asked pointing.
"Oh." She blushed and covered it. "Don't worry about that one."
"No just show it to me." I said grabbing her hand again. Sadie sighed and turned her back to me. She moved her ponytail out of the way after shifting so she was sitting between my legs, her back nearly touching my chest. I smiled when I saw it. It was supposed to look like a postcard. It was a beach scene, with pink and purple skies, blue water and golden sand. "That's amazing." I murmured brushing my fingers against her neck. A shiver traveled up her spine. I didn't know if it was because I was touching her in general or because she could feel my desire through my touch. It took all of my will power not to lean forward that extra millimeter and brush my lips against her skin as well. Sadie looked back at me and bit her bottom lip again. I licked my lips slowly. "Maybe we should just watch the movie." Sadie whispered nervously, her eyes still focused on my lips. I could see the desire within her but something was holding her back.
Sadie shifted so she was no longer sitting between my legs. She almost moved clear across the sofa. We began watching the movie without even acknowledging each other. After only a few moments, I noticed that she was shaking.
"Come here, Sadie." I said grabbing her arm gently. She looked at me a bit shocked. "Come here. You're shaking you're so cold." Sadie nodded and slid across the sofa into my arms.
