Lavender & Roses

XXVII

I laid beside Sadie on the floor of her living room. She was silent as music filled the flat. She seemed relaxed for the first time in days. I needed to talk to her but I didn't want to ruin her mood. I sighed and turned on my side, propping myself up on my elbow to watch her with loving eyes. Her lips moved with the music, silently singing along. I smiled at the blissful look on her face.
"Baby." I murmured, wanting her attention.
"Harry." She replied with a snicker. I couldn't help but chuckle softly. "I love the acoustics in this place. It makes it sound like the band is in the room with us. Like a mini concert for just us." Sadie spoke quietly, her voice telling me she was close to sleep.
"I need to talk to you about something, love." I stated, knowing it was a phrase I should've avoided but it was honest. Sadie's eyes snapped open and she looked worried. "Don't worry, it's not a break up talk." I chuckled. Sadie stared at me with distress, waiting for me to tell her what I needed. "In a couple of months or so, I have to go away for a while." I informed her gently. Sadie didn't respond. "I got offered a place in a really cool project and I took it. I didn't know how to tell you earlier." Sadie nodded slowly. I could tell that she was thinking deeply about what I had said. "You'll still be able to call me everyday and I'll still be here for you when you need me." I explained with care. I didn't want to upset her too much when she'd been in such a good mood. "Will you please say something?" I asked when she still just stared at me.
"Am I allowed to ask what the project is?" She replied. I nodded slowly. "What project is it?" She asked with a bit of a smile.
"A movie." I answered honestly. Her lips smiled but her eyes didn't. "Baby, what's wrong?" I placed my hand on her stomach. She shook her head quickly. "Come on, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. I'm just proud of you, you know?" Sadie replied, her hand caressing my cheek softly. "You've done so many great things and now you're gonna do more but...differently. I'm just proud of you." She kissed my lips lightly. "Are you hungry? I'm hungry." Sadie spoke quickly, like she was itching to get away from me. "I'm gonna go make some food." She popped up from the floor and headed for the kitchen. I sighed as I watched her walk away. Telling her didn't go poorly but it didn't go all that well either. She was holding something back and I needed to know what.

I entered the kitchen to see Sadie rushing around. She had a mountain of ingredients on the counter top and pans on the heating stove. Her brows were furrowed and her lips pursed. To a person that didn't know Sadie, it looked like she was just thinking, but I knew that she was struggling to keep whatever she was feeling under the surface.
"Sadie." I kept my tone gentle. She smiled at me, her indication to keep talking. "What's bothering you? Is it the movie or that I'm leaving?" I asked, knowing it had to be one of the two.
She laughed, "Neither. I'm hungry and it's dinner time." I sighed and leaned against the fridge with folded arms. Sadie placed her hand on my face and pressed her body to mine. "I am so proud of you, Harry. I am." She murmured, caressing my cheek with her thumb.
"Why are you being weird then?" I decided to be blunt. Being blunt with her had worked in the past. Sadie stood on her toes and pressed her lips to mine gently. Her kiss was slow and tender. I rested my hands on her hips bringing her closer. She backed away with a sweet smile and rested her chin on my chest, gazing up at me. "I have to tell you more, about the work things I'm going to be doing." Her smile faded but she nodded. "I have to cut my hair." Her brow lifted quickly. I could tell she wasn't a fan of the revelation. "It's a very specific because of the movie. I can always grow it out again though. I know you like the hair."
"I love the hair." She corrected me quickly. I laughed softly and pressed my forehead to hers. "I'm gonna miss seeing you everyday and sleeping next to you, ya know?" She stated, caressing my cheek once again.
"I know, baby." I murmured to her. "I know." I kissed her forehead lightly. "But there's some stuff I'm doing before I go that you can come with me for. And when I get back from filming, I'm gonna start a solo album. I was thinking of going away to do it, you can come with me. We can just be us without worrying about anyone else." I suggested to her.
"You really have to go? You really have to cut your hair?" She asked sadly. I nodded slowly; I knew it wasn't the answer she wanted but it was truth. "Can I make a request then?" Her voice was tiny.
"Anything, love. Anything at all." I replied, hoping for a romantic request of some kind.
A smirk appeared on her lips, "Can I please do your hair and put make up on you again?" I laughed loudly, sure the sound would be heard by everyone in surrounding flats.
"Anything for you, love." I replied before meshing my lips to hers once again. Sadie giggled against my lips as I pulled her closer and deepened the kiss.

Sitting on the floor in the living room, Sadie had make up and brushes scattered all over the floor. Her pinky finger rested against my cheek comfortably as she brushed something onto my face. An amused smirk had come to rest upon my lips as I watched her different expressions of concentration. I loved the way her tongue poked out just a tiny bit and how she squinted. We were brought out of our little world by a loud knock on the door.
"Come in!" Sadie shouted happily. Her focus then returning to my face that she so delightedly applied make up to. Within a moment, many footsteps filled the room.
"Jesus Christ, Harry." Niall laughed loudly. I glanced over to see how amused he, Louis and Liam were. "What the hell are you doing?" Niall inquired as he finally sat down on the sofa.
"Letting Sadie have fun." I answered with a shrug. "She likes doing make up just not always on herself." I explained.
"You act like I do this all the time." Sadie giggled softly.
"Three times since we met." I beamed up at her beautiful eyes. She shook her head and continued her gentle brush strokes against my face. "What are you lads, doing?" I asked, closing my eyes.
"We all did a bunch of stuff today but decided to check in on Sadie." Liam answered with a chuckle. I gave a single, gentle nod. "What have you two been up to today?" Liam inquired, his curious tone was genuine.
"Nothing really. Had lunch, went out for a bit of shopping. Then we came back here and listened to music for a while. Had dinner. Now we're listening to movies while I do Harry's make up." Sadie answered blandly.
"Is there a reason you're playing dress up with Harry?" Niall asked, amusement still filling his voice.
Sadie shrugged, "Something to do." Niall scoffed, telling her he didn't like her answer. "Fine." Sadie sighed heavily. "If you must know, I dress Harry up like a girl so I can butt-fuck him later."
"Sadie Lynn!" I choked on my laughter at the shocked expressions on the boys' faces. "You weren't supposed to tell anyone." I stated, playing along with her vulgar statement. Liam and Louis grimaced slightly; neither of them were used to how foul mouthed she could be.
"DeeDee, why do you have to do this?" Niall grumbled at her.
"Well, obviously we got bored. It's just something we're doing." Sadie grunted at him. "It's not his favorite thing to do." Sadie's frustration eased as I rested my hand on her hip.
"Finish." I whispered in her ear, drawing her attention back to my face. She smiled, a bright red taking over her cheeks. "Why are you blushing?" A smirk taking hold on my lips.
She shook her head, "I'll tell you later." I held in a chuckle seeing that the lads were looking on. I slid my hand from her hip to her thigh. "Stop it." Sadie growled lowly at me. "I'm serious." She whined as I let my fingers dance over her soft skin. I returned my hand to her hip and sat still. "Close your eyes."

"Oh my God, Harry." Louis cackled at me. Sadie had finished the make up and had styled my hair into a fancy bun.
"Go look. Go look." Sadie tried to pull me up from the floor. "Come on. Come on." She sounded so excited for me to see her finished artwork. I stood and walked over to the mirror in the corner with her. "What do you think?" She inquired, hanging off of my body. Her arm was draped over one shoulder while her chin rested on the other. The bright, proud smile on her face distracted me from what she had done to my face. "Harry." She whined. "What do you think?" I finally looked at my own reflection instead of hers. Purples colored my eye-lids, a fair pink on my cheeks and a dark, bold purple on my lips.
"I love it, baby." I murmured to her. "I wouldn't have gone crazy with the lips though." I stated. "But it definitely works. Thank you." I kissed her forehead lightly, double checking I didn't leave a purple stain on her skin.
"Look how bright the purple makes your eyes look." Sadie's proud smile returned as she motioned to my reflection again. I took note of what she was talking about. "I like the bold lips. It's all dark and like vampy." Sadie giggled against my shoulder. I shook my head, chuckling at her enthusiasm.
"You look down right frightening." Liam chortled from the sofa. Louis and Niall agreed quickly. I glared at them. I didn't mind the semi-insult but I didn't want them to hurt Sadie's feelings.
Sadie frowned, "Aw. I think you look pretty, baby." I smiled and kissed her hair. She rested her cheek against my arm and just stared at our reflection as the boys continued to make jokes.
"You okay?" I asked softly, not wanting to alert the boys to her sudden sadness. She shrugged and wrapped her arms around my waist. "What's wrong?"
"I'm gonna miss doing this stupid shit with you while you're gone." Sadie answered just above a whisper. She obviously didn't want the boys to hear. "I feel like the nights we stay in and do this kind of stuff is the most fun we have. We talk about everything and laugh and it's just...my favorite." She explained.
"I won't be gone that long, love. Three months at the very most. I'll come home for your birthday too. It'll be alright. I'm always a phone call away. You can come visit if you want as well. It won't be that bad." I wanted so badly to kiss her passionately to reassure her. Sadie just nodded against my shoulder. "I promise. It'll be alright." I, once again, placed a sweet kiss on her forehead.

"Harry." Niall interrupted my chain of thoughts in front of the refrigerator. I looked away from the inside of the fridge and smiled warmly. "What's going on with DeeDee?" He asked. I lifted my eyebrow, not knowing what he meant. "I've not seen her in a couple of days, sadly, how is she doing?" Niall laughed.
"Good. She's been having a lot of good days lately. Today is the best one so far. She's been laughing a lot. She's not been getting upset about odd things. She's good." I answered with a chuckle, knowing he was too afraid to ask Sadie.
"How long have you been sleeping with her?" Niall grunted, folding his arms over his chest.
I laughed, "Niall, I have not had sex with Sadie." Niall stared at me in disbelief. "I'm serious. We've not done that. When I sleep here, I'm actually sleeping." I assured him.
"But you're not just friends either, Harry. I'm getting really sick of this game with you two." Niall snapped at me.
I rolled my eyes, "We never claimed to be just friends. It's a 'we're taking this ridiculously slow and seeing where it goes' thing. I've been honest with you about it. And Sadie has never done anything to suggest one way or the other between us." Niall stood still as stone. "I'm really sick of this conversation." I huffed at him.
"Me too. I just want answers so I can be prepared for whatever fallout there may be at the end of this." Niall sighed heavily. "Do you wanna be with her?" Niall inquired.
"I wouldn't be here all the time and reading everything I can get my hands on about what she has if I didn't, Niall." I responded curtly. Niall nodded slowly, like he was trying to absorb what I had said. I looked at him with stern eyes, "Who said it was gonna end?"
Niall cracked up laughing, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." I lifted my eyebrow. "I cannot take you're serious face seriously right now." I started laughing as well, remembering the make up Sadie had put on my face. "You look nuts." Niall howled. I rolled my eyes and pat his shoulder gently. "I love ya, Harry. Even I won't sit for her to do that to me."
I shrugged, "It makes her happy."
"Harry, we're watching a movie. What do you wanna watch?" Sadie asked, bouncing into the kitchen.
I scoffed, "We are doing no such thing. It's eleven and you have to work in the morning, you are going to bed."
"I can work from home." Sadie pouted. I lifted my eyebrow at her. "Please." She begged. "Louis said that he'll let me put make up on him too if they can stay and watch movies. I might even be able to talk Liam into it." Sadie giggled. The joy in her eyes made it impossible to say no. I wanted nothing more than to keep her smiling and laughing.
I gave in, "Okay. Fine. Movie night it is." Sadie cheered and hugged me tightly. She kissed my lips sweetly before running back to the living room. I blushed and looked back at Niall.
He cackled again, "Just friends, my ass."

I know it's kind of a filler chapter but we need some cuteness instead of intensity considering what I have planned for the next few.
