Lavender & Roses

XIII

Sadie rushed out of the room. She looked flustered and shocked. Her cheeks had been red and her eyes glazed over. I wanted to chase after her and kiss her more. I wanted to take her to Niall's old room and throw her down on the bed and make love to her like she'd never felt before. Kissing her though. Kissing her. It felt like I had made love to her. I looked at my watch for a moment. Only a few moments had passed, but I felt like I had been kissing her for hours. I loved the feeling of her hands sliding up my chest and neck to bury her hand in my hair. I loved the way her fleshy hips felt in my hands. I loved the way she subtly began to grind against my thigh that had parted her legs. But what I loved most was how she melted into my lips. She was so eager to have my tongue exploring her mouth, tasting her. And she tasted so good, so sweet, like a peach.
"Don't gloat, Harry." Niall grunted at me. I turned to him and lifted my eyebrow. Niall took a drink of his beer, "You don't have to say a word. It's in your smile." I didn't say a word to him. He knew how Sadie and I felt about one another now. There wasn't anything I could say. "I asked you not to." Niall reminded me. I stayed still and silent. "If you hurt her..." Niall began.
"Oh Niall, stop being so negative." Izzy giggled swatting at Niall's leg. Niall glared at me. Even if Sadie wanted me after that mind blowing kiss, we could never tell Niall that we were together. Not for a long while.
"Harry, staring at the staircase isn't going to make her come down any faster." Greg teased me. I rolled my eyes at him.

Sadie finally came down from the bathroom just before Maura and Izzy served dinner. She looked more relaxed and less red as she took her usual seat between Niall and I. I tried not to smile when she sat a bit closer to me instead of Niall. Sadie turned a light shade of red when I accidentally brushed my arm against hers. It was adorable but a turn on as well. I barely touched her and she was melting.
"So. DeeDee, how is working going? Do you like what you do?" Maura asked Sadie with a tender smile.
Sadie nodded, "It's okay. It's a quiet job and I can work from home if I need to. I like some of the girls I work with. They're really nice."
"Why don't you hang out with them, like after work?" Niall asked Sadie with a bit of an attitude.
Sadie shrugged, "They're big drinkers and partiers. I'd rather sit home and read or something. Watch football."
"Snuggle with Harry." Niall grunted under his breath. I was a bit curious about the response.
"And how am I supposed to do anything after work if I come home to four boys making a mess in my flat?" Sadie shot back quickly. I chuckled quietly, turning my head so Niall wouldn't see. We did take over her apartment almost every evening and usually I would end up staying the night. I would help Sadie get up and get ready for work, on the days that she decided to go into her office.
"Partying is not good for you anyway, love." Bobby smiled warmly at Sadie. She nodded but also eyed her parents.
"This again?" Her father grunted. He seemed mad at her and Bobby. I looked over to see that Niall had taken her hand to comfort her. "You just need to relax. Maybe a party or two would be good for you. Live a little bit." Sadie's father had a condescending tone.
"Yeah. Maybe you should think about planning a girls night with the ladies from work. Socializing would be good for you. Maybe you're just not social enough." Izzy smiled gently at Sadie. I placed my hand on Sadie's thigh. She looked as though she were about to cry again.
"Ah let's not talk about work. This is family time." Maura said quickly, trying to change the subject. She was trying to spare Sadie's feelings without starting a massive fight. Everyone else in the room went about light banter and conversation. I noticed Sadie still appeared sad and hurt.
I leaned over and whispered in her ear, "You are perfect just the way you are." Sadie looked up at me sadly. "I meant it." I stated firmly. She didn't respond; she went back to staring at the table.

I sat silently as Niall spoke to his family and Sadie's. Sadie had been quite quick to offer to do the clean up from dinner, even though there was a lot to be done. I tapped my fingers nervously. She had been really upset for the rest of dinner after her parents had said her illness was basically fake. I disliked the way they dismissed something that had obviously been effecting her life for so long. I grunted to myself, making sure it was inaudible to everyone else. I stood up casually.
"What ya doin', Harry?" Niall asked with a smile.
"I'm just going to go check on Sadie. See if she needs some help." I replied with a shrug.
Izzy looked surprised, "Oh you don't have to do that. She's fine."
"I've been sitting for most of the day. Plus, I feel bad that she's in there all alone." I smiled half-heartedly before walking out of the room. I pushed my hand through my hair and shook my head a bit. It was strange to see the way Sadie's parents treated her illnesses. Niall was so supportive and understanding. He took care of her without a second thought.

I smiled when I entered the kitchen. The thought of the way she felt in my arms under the mistletoe returned. She was soft in all of the right places and she kissed me back with a fire. I wanted to do it again. But I knew that she probably needed a bit of space before it happened again.
"Hey baby." I murmured as I got closer to her. She turned her face from me when I leaned against the counter next to her. "Why are you looking away from me?" My confusion was evident in my voice. Sadie shook her head and straightened a bit. She let her lavender hair fall like a curtain to hide her face. "Come on, Sade." I chuckled, thinking she was blushing about our encounter in the doorway earlier. I brushed her hair behind her ear with my index finger. "Why are you crying?" I frowned deeply. She just shook her head again. "Tell me, Sadie." I pleaded.
"Why do they have to pick out every little thing that's wrong with me?" She sobbed, nearly wrapping her arms around herself. I shut off the water and pulled her into a tight hug.
"They're not, baby. They're not." I murmured.
"Yes. They are. They act like I want to be this way. I don't want to be like this. But it's how I am. Why do they have to make me feel bad about it?" Sadie cried into my chest. I rubbed her back and squeezed her tighter.
"Baby..." I began softly.
She cut me off, "I hate this. I just want to be normal. Why can't I be normal? I don't want them to hate me."
"They do not hate you, Sadie." I snapped at her.
Sadie nodded quickly, "They do. They do, Harry."
"Your parents do not hate you. They love you. They just...don't know what to say." I stated softly. Sadie hugged me tighter, her face buried in my neck.
"Hey. Is everything okay?" Denise asked walking into the kitchen with a smirk. I nodded and slowly released Sadie. "DeeDee? You okay?" Denise inquired, trying to peak at her tear streaked face.
"Yes Denise. I'm fine." Sadie replied, even though you could hear the tears in her voice.
"Do you want to talk about it, honey?" Denise asked Sadie softly. Sadie shook her head quickly and dropped her eyes to the dishes. Denise gazed at me with saddened eyes. I smiled weakly and leaned against the counter again. "Okay." Denise scooted out of the room quickly. Sadie exhaled heavily when she heard Denise tell everyone in the living room she was upset. I caressed Sadie's back gently to soothe her as much as I could. I knew I wasn't doing much for her, but I had to be helping just a little bit.
