You & I (Sequel to What A Feeling)

Chapter 24

“I still can’t believe he left this close to the wedding?” Kara shakes her head.
“It’s important to his golf management business that he attend this meeting.” Becca defends Niall. “He’s still in Ireland.”
“Yeah, the other end of the country, practically.”
“I have to admit, it scared the hell out of me when he said ‘remote area’. But, he promised he’d be back in time for the wedding.” Becca says.
“He better be.”
“Please just help me finish putting together the favor boxes.” Becca pleads.
Kara grins. “These are really cute.” The boxes are the colors of the Irish flag, filled with chocolates in the shapes of various sports and music symbols. “I think the guitars are my favorite.”
“Kara, stop eating them all. Besides, the baseball bats taste way better.” They both laugh.

Later that day, the seamstress stops by for one last check of Becca and Kara’s dresses. Kara is trying on hers when Becca receives a call. “Niall?”
“Hey, Babe. How’s everything going?”
“Good. I’m getting ready to try on my dress one last time before the wedding.”
“I can’t wait to see you in it, B. I miss you.”
“I miss you too. You will be home sometime tomorrow, right? We have the rehearsal and dinner in the evening.”
“Yes, Darling. We have one meeting today and the final one tomorrow morning. Then I’m flying out. I promise.”
“Alright.”
“B, don’t sound so down. I’ll be there.”
“I’m sorry, Irish. I just don’t want anything to delay you becoming my husband.”
“I love you, B. Thanks for understanding.”
“I love you, Niall. Bye.”
“Was that the leprechaun?” Kara asks.
Becca turns to her friend. “Oh Kara, you look amazing. Green is your color.”
“Thanks. All the other ladies will be in yellow?”
“Yep. My team colors.” Becca winks.
“Alright, Bride, it’s your turn.” Kara grins.
Becca disappears with the seamstress to put on her wedding gown. She blushes as she returns to the room and Kara tears up.
“Beautiful, absolutely perfect.” Kara says.
Becca turns to look at herself in the mirror. “Thanks, Kara. You think Niall will like it?”
Kara laughs. “Are you kidding? The leprechaun is gonna lose his shit.”
Becca laughs. “I guess that’s a good thing.”
The seamstress speaks up, “Everything looks great. You are all set to get married.”
“She just needs a groom.” Kara smirks.

The next morning, Kara accompanies Becca to do a final walk through of the venues. “Have you spoke with Niall this morning?”
Becca shakes her head. “No, he’s not answering.”
“I’m sure he’s just busy in a meeting.” Kara insists.
“I hope so.” Becca replies.

They stop by the reception hall first. Becca’s breath catches as she enters. The room is draped in shimmering, sheer fabric, giving it a dream like feel. The table coverings match the white fabric with black silk table runners.
“It looks so eloquent. The candles on the tables are such a nice, romantic touch.” Kara says.
“It’s so pretty. I can’t wait to see it tomorrow with the flowers.” Becca replies.
Their wedding planner approaches. “So, what do you think?”
Becca smiles, “It’s incredible. You did an amazing job.”
“I’m glad you like it.”
“The flowers arrive tomorrow?” Becca asks.
“Yes. Red and white roses for here at the reception. Green and yellow flowers at the church.”
“My bouquet?”
She smiles, “White and red flowers made to look like a baseball.”
“Perfect.” Becca grins.
“I’m going to get back to work. You ladies finish looking around and if there’s any problems at the church, let me know.”
“Thanks.” Becca replies, noticing Kara standing near the bride and groom’s table. “What’s wrong, Kara?”
She turns to Becca. “I’m just a little jealous.”
“Do you want to marry Adam?”
She nods, “I just don’t think he’s ready to settle down.”
“He’s a great guy who is lucky to have you. Just be patient with him.”
Kara smiles. “I will. Let’s go to the church now, I’m dying to see it.”

As they drive up to the church, Becca sighs. “I still can’t believe I’m getting married in this beautiful church.”
“Yeah, who knew Mullingar would have something so incredible.”
Becca grins. “Better not let Niall hear you say that.”

Every time I come here, I’m overwhelmed by how incredible it is.” Becca says as they enter the large church. White columns run along both sides of the sanctuary. Incredible paintings grace the walls.
“It’s just breathtaking. You get such a feeling of history.” Kara says.
“Tomorrow, I get to marry my soulmate here.” Becca beams.
“That is so romantic.” Kara grins.
Becca can feel her phone vibrating. “I’m getting a call, let’s step outside.”
Kara follows.
“Hello?”
“Hey, B.”
“Niall! Are you at the airport? Do we need to come pick you up?”
“I’m afraid not, Darling.”
“Niall?”
“I’m stuck here, B.”
“What’s going on?” Kara asks.
“He’s stuck there.”
“Shit!” Kara says, not realizing a priest is walking past them. “Sorry, Father.”
“Kara.” Becca shakes her head.
“He was kind of cute.” Kara smirks.
“Kara!”
“What? I’m pretty sure I read a romance novel like that once; young American girl falls for hot Irish priest.” Kara winks.
“Go away, Kara. Niall? Why are you stuck there?”
“The golfer we were meeting with arrived late, so by the time we were ready to leave for the airport, a storm had arrived. We are grounded at the moment.”
“Crap.”
“B, you alright?”
“No, Niall. My groom won’t be here for our rehearsal or maybe even our wedding. Are you trying to tell me something, Horan?”
“I’m sorry about missing the rehearsal and the dinner, I really am, B. They say it will be cleared up in the morning. I swear I will get back for the wedding if I have to start walking now.”
“I’m not gonna lie, Irish, I’m disappointed.”
“Ahh, B, you’re breaking my heart.”
“I know it’s not your fault. I just miss you and I wanted this to be special.”
“Shit, B, are you crying?”
Kara takes the phone. “Now you’ve made her cry. I’m gonna kick your ass, Horan. Why the hell did you go so close to the wedding?” She catches the eye of the priest again, he lays his finger against his lips, urging her to lower her voice.
“Kara, I feel bad enough as it is. I never meant for this to happen.” Niall insists.
“Look, Leprechaun, you broke her heart once and I forgave you. Break it again...you’ll regret it.” Kara doesn’t wait for a reply, instead handing the phone back to Becca.
“Do you hate me, B?” Niall asks.
“I could never hate you, Irish. Please just promise me that you’ll get back in time to give me your name.”
“I promise, B.”
