Emotions kept overwhelming me as I knocked on his door. He answered the door, and his expression turned from a smile to a worry when he saw me. I was tearing up.
“What’s wrong?” Jeffery asked.
“Have you heard about the basketball player in West Sydney?” I asked.
Jeffery knew what I was talking about right away. “Come in.” He said.
Jeffery talks about how he feels, but he promises not to hurt himself. I try to believe him, but after seeing what just happened to Cole, I’m still nervous.
The next couple days went fairly normal, considering the circumstances. As selfish as it may seem, I did everything I could to try and not think about it.
That Friday, Gabbi and I decided to hang out before going to our boyfriends’ basketball game that night.
Ironically, this basketball game was at West Sydney High, and that’s the team they were playing. So much for trying not to think about the whole Cole thing.
We were in Gabbi’s bathroom, doing our hair and makeup, when she said “My dad said we need to leave in ten minutes.”
Her dad was driving us to the game.
“Be honest.” I said to Gabbi. “Do I wear jeggings too much?”
“Honestly, girl…” Gabbi trailed off. “Sort of. But it’s okay. I wear white crop tops and neon bras too much.”
There was a knock on the door and her dad poked his head in. “Time to go!”
