My grandparents were holding a family get together one weekend. Dad though we should go, but the idea of being around my extended family gave me so much anxiety that I thought I may be physically sick.
Basically, Grandma thought that it would be a good idea to have this “get together” so that everyone could “meet” me.
They’ve obviously met me before.
Sarah and I were hanging out at my place the night before.
“I’m so glad you’re going to be there.” I said to Sarah. “I literally don’t think I could do it without you.”
“You’ll be fine, drama queen.” Sarah said back.
“It just feels like Grandma is having this party to say Emmett is trans and is now Emelia. She’s a new person so you have to meet her again.”
“It’s our family, they love you.” Sarah reassured.
“You’re awesome, thank you!” I said back. “Now, what to wear. Should I go with a more gender neutral outfit?”
“Hell no!” Sarah answered while going into my closet. “You need something very girly, simple, yet still pure and innocent.” She then pulled out a fall-colored dress. “This.”
It was a very simple dress that was very pretty.
“You’re right again.” I said. “This is perfect.”
“Sarah…have your parents said anything about…my transition?”
Sarah suddenly became somber. “They said…it’s strange.”
“That’s…all they said?” I asked.
“Basically.”
