My name is Michael. I'm broken as you could probably tell. My life hasn't been all that great. My father disappeared a few years back and hasn't returned. My mother used to leave me on my own for days without calling or checking up on me. I had no idea what she was doing. Probably with some other guys like always. Until one day, she didn't come back at all. And she still hasn't. I was afraid to get close to anyone, I was scared I might hurt them or they might hurt me. Bullies were another problem. They always picked on me because I was the weird kid with a broken home. I cried myself to sleep most nights. Ever since then, I've been a huge player. Dating girls just because i didn't want to be alone. There was nothing left for me. That was what I thought until I met hope. At a truth or dare game I was playing with some friends, they dared me to ask hope out. She was always the misfit at the school. Dying her hair crazy colors, wearing huge glasses. Her parents always told her her name was a metaphor for being the hope and sunshine in their lives but after a tragic accident, hope became broken too. She never believed me when I told her that she was the happiness in my life and drove all my grey clouds away. And maybe she was right. Maybe she was no good for me, just another broken heart added to the list. I thought she was different, but maybe that's my heart that doesn't want to be alone talking. Sometimes not even the person you think you love has access to your heart.
