Chapter 4 - Another Brick In The Wall -

-------------------

Thursday July 7, 2016 approx: 10:34 a.m.

The light shone in through the slightly opaque curtains of Zayn's bedroom, making Violet open her heavily tired eyes, rolling them at the time she could see on the clock beside her head. She groaned, annoyed that she would soon have to leave, she was more than tired after the party yesterday evening and how late Zayn and her had additionally stayed up when they arrived home. She soon sat up and it took a while for the room around her to come into focus, simultaneously feeling the other side of the bed to see if Zayn was still there. She was really hoping he was and her hands soon bumped against his naked torso and she sighed, thankful he was still home, she was afraid that she had missed him leave already.

She began to softly trace the tattoos on this torso, more specifically the revolver that was tattooed on his hip beside the cheeky tattoo on his waist that said, "Don't think I won't..". She always thought his tattoos were intriguing and often found herself where she was now, tracing them with her fingertips, adoring how they set so beautifully on his tan colored skin.

"Zayn." She whispered as she gently continued to trace the tattoos on his body, pulling herself closer to him, not that she could really get that much closer.

"Hmm?" He responded, his eyes still closed.

"Are you awake?" He was wiggling a bit now under her touch, more than likely because her fingertips were tickling him.

"I am now." He whispered back at her, opening his eyes and giving a slight chuckle to the shirt she was wearing, he couldn't remember how many shirts she had poking fun with the topic of pizza, but he knew she had quite the bunch.

He soon sat up next to her, running his fingers through his dark brown hair, it sticking up in various ways on top of his head. Rest assured he couldn't see it himself, but the way Violet's eyebrows were raised suggested to him that he had quite the case of bed head, not that he minded, the shower usually fixed the issue for him anyways.

"I'm surprised Aaron hasn't nazied his way in here, you were supposed to meet him a 11, right?" Violet asked, her head turning to the side a bit so she could run her fingers through her own hair that she had stripped from the pony tail it was in only moments before.

"Shit, you're right!" He cursed, before turning to her and quickly laying a rough, but lovely kiss upon her lips. He then began to speak once more, his right hand still framing the one side of her face, cradling it in his touch. It was moments like this that she had wished that they could stay like this forever.

"I'm going to shower. You'll probably leave before me so, I love you babe."

"I love you too Zayn."

He did end up being correct because 30 minutes after he disappeared into the washroom, Micah and Louis showed up at the front door. Where they were ready to leave.
-----------------------

"It's a bit nippy out here, innit?" Louis questioned Violet as he pulled his grey colored beanie down over his ears, the wind cutting sharply through the stadium making a whirring sound that Violet was cursing as it registered as a ringing sound in her ears.

"For L.A. in July, you bet your ass it's chilly." She laughed, throwing the blue FEFA ball up into the air and catching it a couple times as she trailed behind Louis, who was a couple feet ahead of her. No matter where they went together, he was always a couple meters away from her, but in her defense, he did have longer legs.

Luckily, they both had opted for joggers rather than football shorts (or as they say here in America, soccer) for the wind kept slicing through the stadium walls and sending shivers through Louis and Violet alike. She almost had wished she wore underarmour under her jersey like Louis had done, but there wasn't much she could've done about it now. She was a good 45 minutes away from her apartment and even further away from from Zayn's house in Bel Air.

She knew Louis was dying to kick around, just as she had been for quite some time. She was a little sad that Zayn had other plans, but she really enjoyed the time she spent with Louis, maybe even more than the time she spent with anyone else, but as far as she was concerned, you didn't read her think that.

It did bother her quite a bit that Zayn hung out with Gigi, but he was awfully supportive of her being friends with Louis even knowing Louis's feelings for her. She really honestly shouldn't have been bothered as much as she was, but she just couldn't help it. She was the jealous type, unfortunately.

"Your hair looks nice today, love." He complimented, jolting her out of her thoughts as they approached the benches to the sides of the playing field, where they sat their thermoses and their cell phones. That led to Violet recalling the incident where Louis had shattered her phone screen a couple years ago playing around on the field. That scenario didn't need to be repeated and it became custom to set all valuables and breakables on the side lines, hopefully where they were more safe.

"Thank you." She replied, almost sounding a little discouraged as she played around with the large sapphire stone set ring on her right ring finger, he recognized it instantly as the ring he had bought her years ago. It brought him quite a bit of joy to know she had kept it, but it also enticed him into wandering if she really did miss him like he missed her. Not that he was going ask her. Usually the loud and outgoing one of the band, he just couldn't bring himself to question her that way, especially considering how serious her relationship with Zayn seemed to be.

"You're welcome, shall we set up?" His eyebrows were raised as he turned around to point to the security team that accompanied them both here, who were, by default, expected to be the goalies. They slowly walked into the middle of the field, Louis still pointing towards the security and waving them towards himself.

"Come on now boys, don't be shy!" He yelled again after a couple moments of the tall men stalling to walk forward. He more than definitely was hyped, of course, he was known for it.

"Paul, I'd say you should be Violet's goalie because she's going to need as much help as she can get." Louis rattled off, patting Paul on the back as he walked him over to Violet, who he knew very well due to the time she spent on the road with One Direction when she was still with Louis. He had always figured that Zayn and her would end up being an item in the future, but he wouldn't have bet money on it, now he was wishing he had.

"Louis, Whelan will kick your ass, just like she did the last time you challenged her." Paul smiled, calling Violet by her real last name as he stood beside her, giving Louis a run for his money with his words.

She could vividly remember all the times Paul pinpointed Louis as the hardest 1D member to deal with, she couldn't remember a day in her life where Louis wasn't hard to deal with (maybe while he was sleeping, but that was still just a maybe). He always had resembled a small child who had just begun a sugar high, always happy and energetic, it was a trait she wished she had herself actually. He was much less rambunctious though now at 24, his energy was still always good fun, at least that's what Violet had always thought.

"She hasn't even played football as long as I have, I am hurt by your words Paul."

"I'm sorry that I didn't do league when I was in school, but I played nearly everyday with you after I graduated."

"And what a shit show that was, now you're better than me!" He yelled, being quite dramatic.

"Oi Louis suck it up." Violet laughed, as her bodyguard, Micah, joined Louis on his side of the field.

"You'll be the one sucking it up when I beat you." Louis teased, throwing his hands down in front of him in a gangster sort of way, making Violet laugh at his silliness.

"Lou, just kick the bloody ball in already."

He did as she asked, kicking the ball towards the goal he wanted to succeed kicking it in, maneuvering around Violet stealthily the first couple encounters, until she decided to kick up the heat. She wasn't going to let him win, she'd never live the end of it if she did. She rolled her eyes even thinking about it.

He started to inch closer and closer to the goal and before he could hammer in a point, Violet interjected the play stealing the ball away from his feet and into the other direction. She then sprinted to Louis's goal, Micah guarding the net very nervously, knowing how violent of a player Violet was. For a woman, her kicks were pretty viscous, sending the ball hurdling towards her target almost on fire sometimes, or so it seemed that way. At least to him anyways.

He wasn't up for losing a limb or being sent to the hospital today, after all, he still had to protect Violet and lead her through the millions of fans who were lining themselves up outside of the Titan Stadium. He knew she'd try and stop to sign what she could and take photos with those she'd have time for, so he had to keep a mental note of having her and Louis leave a bit early. She had to be at the Jimmy Kimmel set at 10:00 p.m. that evening and he knew that she planned on going out to eat with Louis after their game of soccer. When she was with Louis, or even Zayn for that matter, it was hard to keep track of time, let alone keep track of where she was and was planning to go. Keeping her in check was honestly one of the hardest jobs he had signed up for, but he couldn't complain, he got to hang around with one of the most beautiful girls in the industry. Well that's what he thought and he knew that Louis and Zayn thought so too. Even if she was a giant pain in the ass.

"Micah, I'm really sorry if I hit you, darling." Violet apologized as she lined herself up to kick the ball into the goal, knowing she was going to score before she could even see the detail on the net. Well, that was before Louis snuck up behind her. He successfully stole the ball, taking Violet off guard and having her do a double-take as it took a couple seconds for her to realize he had actually stolen the ball. Then, after she came to, she was hot on his tail, ready to reclaim the ball once more. He had really put on his game face today, damn.

She could already tell and not even ten minutes in that this was going to be a long game and for the first time in years, she was actually unsure if she'd be able to beat him this time or not.

-----------

"I told you I was going to win!" Louis shouted, his hands pounding into the air as he jumped for joy.

"I s'pose you did, yeah." Violet said, laughing a tiny bit for the game was all in good fun. She was happy he won, not for her sake, but his own.

"I'll still pay for your dinner, love, don't fret." He said, coming closer to her, the ball now in his arms since he picked it up out of the net Paul had been blocking. Well, supposed to be blocking.

She rolled her eyes in response to him, which he, of course, noticed automatically. He put his hand on his heart acting as if he was heartbroken by Violet's eye-rolling, playing it off as a real, but obviously fake injury. That earned him another eye roll and a slight scoff.

"Oh come on Violet, it's all in good fun." He was rather close now, dropping the ball in between his feet so he could put his hands on Violet's tattooed shoulders.

"You drive me mad, you know?" She giggled, reaching her hands out and tickling his sides, something that she was sure everyone under the sun found to be one of the most annoying things ever conjured up. Not that she wanted to annoy Louis, just bug him a bit.

"That's my job, isn't it?" He winked at her, his tongue clicking behind his teeth.

Violet was mentally scolding herself, the closer that Louis became, the more she had to keep herself from giving into the temptation that lied within the back of her head. She knew better, so much better, but she couldn't deny how much she still loved Louis, hating herself for even thinking about touching him in a promiscuous way. She was taken, taken, taken, taken, taken.

"You're disgusting." She retorted, squinting her brown eyes at him quite drastically. Her arms were now crossed at her chest, the wind blowing her turquoise hair around wildly.

"Am I Violet, am I really?" He was purposely enticing her now, noticing how hard it was for her to keep her distance from him. His nose was now centimeters away from her own, his lips so dangerously close to hers. He slowly reached his hand up from his side, brushing a stray hair blowing around her face behind one of her ears, his fingers lingering on her cheeks for a couple seconds before he dropped his arm back at his side once more. It didn't start out as a mind game, but Louis was never one to bite his tongue, why start now?

"Louis, I can't." She suddenly breathed, her eyes closed as she put her hands on his biceps, almost holding him back. Just moments before, she had almost kissed him, it had given away everything she intended on keeping inside. He knew it, she did still love him.

"I know, it's okay." He said, pulling her into his arms, her head instantly hiding itself in his chest. He could feel her chest slowly rising and falling as he held her in his arms in silence, he hadn't meant to make her upset, but he just needed to get it out of her.

She didn't know how to explain to either Louis nor Zayn what it was like to be in love with not only just one of them, but them both.

In the simplest of terms she was fucked.
