Chapter Four
TWO DAYS LATER
NIALLS P.O.V
So Ella and Harry want to set us up? I'm fine with that. I really want to know her. She seems so great. She's beautiful. She is sweet. Aria. Even the name sounds wonderful. She has a vulnerable side also a fiery side. I haven't talked to her much but you can see it in her eyes. She's broken but I want to be the one who fixes her.
Something happened to her, that much I can tell.
I can't wait for our date at 12.
BACK TO NORMAL VIEW
Aria waited at a table for Niall. She was nervous. All she could think about was whether Niall would show up or if she should leave.
"Aria!" Niall smiled at her. She looked amazing in a striped top with a black skirt.
"Uh. Hi." Aria couldn't help but smile.
"So should we order?" Niall asked.
"Sure."
Aria had a salad and Niall had a chicken wrap.
The date went great.
Both of them thought the same thing through our the date, "Wow." Niall couldn't get over the fact that Aria was so sweet as well as funny. Aria couldn't get over how easily she connected with Niall.
"Can I walk you home?" Niall asked at the end of their lunch.
"I'd like that." Aria smiled and they left the restaurant together.
They walked along the road when they stopped at the traffic lights and Niall suddenly started to hold her hand. Aria felt a swooping sensation in her stomach. At first she went to pull away but then she thought, "why not?" And held on.
They kept on walking in a silence that was comfortable. When they reached Arias house Aria walked onto the doorstep when Niall suddenly drew level with her.
"I'd like to hang again sometime." He said to her.
"Me to." Aria smiled at him.
Then Niall kissed her. Aria was shocked but found herself kissing him back. It felt magical. They could both feel the butterflies in their stomachs as the kissed.
They pulled away and smiled at each other.
"Goodbye." Niall started to walk away.
"Bye." Aria smiled at his figure walking away. This afternoon was going marvelously.
ARIAS P.O.V
I shut the door and smiled. Wow. That was amazing. I haven't kissed someone for ages.
"Aria! How was your date?" Ella asked.
"Amazing." Aria dreamily said.
"Oh my god. Seriously? I knew it would work with you two" Ella smiled. "Did you guys kiss?"
Aria nodded and Ella started to scream.
"Epppppp. Oh my god that's so cute!"
"We're going out again."
"Yay." Ella shrieked.
"What's all this screaming about?" Asked a woman who walked our of the kitchen. "Hello Aria."
Arias smile fell. All those happy feelings were gone and the memories of pain came flooding back. "Hi Mrs Field."
ARIAS P.O.V
What was Sam's mum doing here? She swore at the funeral to never come near me again.
"I know your wondering why I'm here. I want to apologize for blaming you for everything. That wasn't right. His accident was tragic. No ones fault."
"Well thanks." I stuttered.
"I'll be going now. Goodbye." With that Mrs Fields left.
"Aria. Are you alright?" Ella asked carefully.
"Um, no." Aria sank to the ground. "I killed him. I need him and he's gone. What am I going to do? It's been a year and I'm still like this. He was the only person who kept going. Why should I be alive when he isn't?" I sobbed.
NIALLS P.O.V
She forgot her purse. I started the walk back to her house. When I opened the door I saw something that I wasn't expecting. Aria, rocking back and forth on the ground, sobbing.
Ella saw me and pointed to Aria. She mouthed, "Deal with it" and left. I guess this is what I need to fix.
BACK TO NORMAL VIEW
Niall grabbed Arias head and pulled it up so she was facing him.
"Sweetie. What happened to make you like this?" Niall asked her.
"Sam and I had been together for a year. We on a drive to a restaurant, I was driving. Suddenly a truck came out of nowhere and hit us. I only broke my wrist but he died. The impact on his head was too hard for anyone to survive. We had his funeral and his mother blamed me for everything. So did I. I should've died not him. I relied on him. I needed him. He didn't need me as much as I needed him. I lived for him. But he was gone." Aria looked at the floor. "He died because of me."
"Listen to me." Niall looked directly into her eyes. "It wasn't your fault. At all. Just because you needed him doesn't me you can't survive without him. You will be loved. Don't try so hard to say goodbye to me. I will wait. He wasn't the only guy you could depend on. He was the first you could. And your looking at the second guy right now."
"But.." Aria stumbled.
"No ifs, ands or buts. I'll always be there. Always." Niall said.
Finally they both leaned and kissed. For a long time. They only stopped when Ella walked in and walked out.
"You know I think I love you." Aria uttered to Niall.
