The Spring Semester [On Hold Indefinitely]

Day 4

The bed underneath me felt so soft and cool, I didn't want to get up. Without opening my eyes I could tell that it was already morning by the shuffling and voices coming from the halls. Most students were probably either making their way to the dining room for breakfast or starting their journey for the day. I've never been a morning person and all I wished was that I could stay in bed all day.

I lay cocooned in my blankets not planning to move anytime soon until memories of yesterday started to flood in and I suddenly felt awake. Harry said he loved me and I said I loved him back. It was almost like a dream, one I didn't want to wake up from. I sit up in the bed with my legs still covered by the white blankets and grab my phone.

Harry: Wake up sleepy head. We have stuff to do today.

I smile and bite my lip upon reading his morning text. It was sent 10 minutes ago so instead of replying, I dash out of the bed and breeze through my morning routine in order to get this day going.

I walk into the dining area, eager to find Harry in his usual spot. I bounce on my heels as I see him talking with Paul. Before I approach him I take a moment to admire him from afar. His chiseled jaw standing out from his profile, the rich brown curls peeking out from under his hat, the way his lips pout when he talks and how his hands are always in motion. He is so amazing in every aspect and he loves me. Out of all people, he loves me.

I take a deep breath before making my way to his side. He acknowledges my presence right away and motions for me to take the seat beside his. It catches me off guard when he takes my cheek in his hand and brings my face closer until his lips meet mine. He places a lingering peck over my lips while I sit frozen in place. This was real after all. It wasn't me dreaming that it happened.

"Did you sleep well last night?" he asks gathering a strand of my hair behind my ear.
"Slept like a baby. I didn't want to leave the bed this morning!"
"Well we have some things planned today. Paul was just telling me that him and his group went to some floating gardens yesterday. I figured we could see what it's about." he sounded excited about going to this place so I agreed right away.

Breakfast didn't take long as I only wanted cereal. The butterflies in my stomach didn't allow room for more food. To be honest, I much rather prefer the butterflies than food. This feeling I never wanted it to end. After breakfast, I agreed to meet Harry in the hacienda's living room in order to head out to today's adventure. I quickly walked to my room where I ditched my flats for a pair of low top converse as I knew lots of walking would be involved. I grab my crossbody and head out the door towards our meeting spot.

Harry was already there leaning against the fireplace waiting for me. He moves forward and laces his arms around my waist. His green eyes looked down at mine while his mouth formed a smirk.

"I don't get tired of doing this." he states bringing his lips to mine. The subtle taste of his morning tea lingered on his lips, "Let's go, we have a long day." he says placing his hands lightly on my shoulders.

The walk to the main road was becoming less of a task as the days went by. If anything, I've grown to appreciate the way it was lined with tress and how relaxed the walk made me feel. Harry said this time we'd be taking a different bus than the one that takes us into the city. We'd be looking for one that said 'Xochimilco' which would take us straight to our destination instead of going into the city and then having to pay for a second bus. When the green and white bus we'd been waiting for came into view, we stood up from the large rock we were sitting on and boarded. Many of the people aboard we could tell were tourist so I assumed the place we were visiting was a popular destination.

It was a long drive, about 1 hour with a couple of stops. Being so far away from the hacienda in an unknown neighborhood made me a bit uneasy, but the amount of tourists was visible once we arrived at the entrance. Harry took hold of my hand and I followed him inside where a large canal was filled with colorful gondola-like boats called trajineras that had different names or sayings on top. We make our way to the short line formed to buy tickets to see what the prices were. Once we were next, Harry starts speaking quietly to the woman working the ticket window. I focus my attention on something else, letting him handle the transaction.

"Let's go." he says taking my hand in his and leading us towards the boats. A man takes his tickets and asks us to follow him. He directed us to the boat that would be ours and to my surprise it read 'Daniela' at the top. My jaw dropped at the very thoughtful gesture.
"I know it's not Daniella with two Ls but it's all they had." he explains with a smile on his lips.
"No, Harry, it's perfect. Thank you." I place a peck on his cheek.

Harry hopped on to the boat then helped me get on. There was a long rectangular table with long wooden benches on each side to sit on. Harry takes the seat next to mine and places his arm behind my back, a proud smile never leaving his face. To my surprise, I see someone bringing in plates of food and a couple of micheladas. I watched as they sat the food and drinks in front of us. Harry had ordered us tacos and it made me smile that he was so thoughtful knowing that I love tacos.

"Harry, you sure know the way to my heart!" I joke stroking his thigh before grabbing a spoonful of one of the two salsas brought for us.
"Gotta keep you well fed." Harry responds pinching my cheek to which I give a playful side-eye to.

The ride around the floating gardens was, to put it short, magical. Not only was it incredbily relaxing to be traveling along the canal, but the views the ride had to offer were beyond anything I could imagine. What stuck out to me the most was an island called La Isla De Las Muñecas which translates to the island of the dolls. The island was filled with macabre looking dolls, doll limbs and heads hanging from trees, houses, and basically anything to which these dolls and it's body parts could be placed on.

The man operating our trajinera told us a bit about the back story of this island which was sad but scary. According to him, the island's theme was started by a local man who said he found a small girl who had drowned near the island. With the girl he found a doll to which he assumed was hers and hung it up out of respect. Over time he gathered more dolls in her honor until the island became what we know now. Many counts of the dolls seeming possessed have been reported by visitors but it's up the others whether they believe it or not. The last part really put me on edge and I leaned into Harry further as he wrapped his protective arms around me.

The afternoon was looming over us and we thought we'd head back to the Hacienda. After leaving the floating gardens of Xochimilco, we took a bus into the city where we went to visit the murals of Diego Rivera. Harry had been waiting to see them since the first day but time had not allowed it. He was truly mesmerized with the murals before us, I couldn't help but take his camera and snap a few pictures. After all, it was only fair since he has spent the last 4 days snapping pictures of me.

Back at the hacienda we arrived right in the middle of dinner. We didn't mind one bit as we had been eating street food all afternoon. I even got Harry to try an esquite which is a corn salad in a cup. He wasn't a fan but he ended up liking the mango slices with lemon and salt the same vendor was selling.

"What do you want to do since we're not having dinner?" Harry asks as we walk hand in hand along the hall surrounding the courtyard.
"Honestly I'm pretty beat. I think I'm heading to bed early." I say slightly disappointing that our day is coming to an end.
"Yeah, I think rest is good right about now. Besides tomorrow is our last day here. I want us to wake up early."
"Oh yeah? What for?" I wonder stopping to face him.
"You'll see tomorrow, don't be anxious." Harry says while smiling. His dented cheeks asking to be pinched.
"Ok, ok. Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow." I say before leaning in to give him a kiss.
"Why don't you sleep in my room tonight? I have a one bed remember?" he proposes making the heat rush to my cheeks.
"Ok, I will. Hopefully we don't get in trouble.." I caution but secretly not caring as long as I could be with Harry.
"We wont, let's go." Harry then leads me by the hand towards his room.

Notes

A few people over the past two weeks have asked me about this story and if I was continuing. I had this chapter already typed up I just added a few things and decided to post. I liked that it had that creepy island part and found it fitting for Halloween. :)

Happy Halloween everyone, I hope you have an awesome day! I hope you enjoyed your Daniella and Harry fluff needs. :D
