Love is an Act of War

Chapter Twenty Two.

LUKE'S POINT OF VIEW

I pull away from her sweet lips, her eyes looking into mine. Calum comes storming in, "Dude what the fucking hell?!" He yells, and pushes me onto the ground. Adria just looks at me, a hint of lust and a hint of curiosity in her eyes. Calum takes her hand, and pulls her out the door.

ADRIA'S POINT OF VIEW

Luke's lips land on mine, sending a wave of electricity through my veins. Whether it was actually liking him, or just loving the fact that I'm doing something I shouldn't, doesn't matter to me in that moment. He pulls away, and I just stumble back a bit.

"That- That was wrong." I say. He nods.

"I know."

"What was wrong?" Calum asks.

"N-Nothing." I shake my head.

LUKE'S POINT OF VIEW

I wake up, a little scared for some reason. I check my phone, the red blinking light bothering me.

2:39 AM
1 MISSED MESSAGE
Adria: We need to talk.

I adjust how I'm sitting.

Me: Where?

The text I get back is almost immediate.

Adria: Parking lot by the woods. 15 minutes.
Luke: Because that's not a creepy spot in town at all.
Adria: This is no time for jokes, Hemmings.

Okay. She's treating this like one of her missions. I can relate to that.

I get dressed, and quietly step out of my room, only to bump into Raven.

"God damn it." I say, startled.

"Where're you goin'?" She smirks, crossing her arms. "Off to see your secret lover?"

"You don't know what you're talking about." I huff.

"Oh,"She gets close to my face, "I think I do." She whispers, then looks me up and down, "Have fun betraying your best friend." She winks, and walks down the hall. Why the hell was she up at two in the morning anyway?! Fucking stalker.

I sigh quietly, and walk out the front door. The moon may as well have been a flashlight. The air is more crisp than it usually is, too. It's like it knows what's about to happen. Well, could it please tell me? Because my entire walk has been me flipping about what she's going to say to me. Or do to me. No, I don't mean that in a sexual way, I mean Adria is the most feistiest, and violent gang member I've ever met, she could literally do anything to me and I wouldn't be able to stop her.

When I get there, she's already standing there, in the middle of the parking lot, waiting for me. She gives me an annoyed look.

"I said fifteen minutes, not twenty." She rolls her eyes.

"I know, sorry, Raven wouldn't stop talking." What the fuck? Did I just... Apologize? Oh my god, who the hell have I become? No. I've never been Nice Luke.

"Okay. Anyway. What the fuck was THAT?" She asks.

"You tell me, princess. You kissed me back." I say. She just looks at me for a second.

"Did you just call me princess?" She asks, a little shocked.

“Hey princess.”
-
“I'm just dandy princess, you?”
-
“Aw, is the queen having a bad day?”
-
“I just think you deserve to be treated like a princess. But not like here, more like a princess with dirt smears on her pink dress. Like a super badass princess.”
-
"Hey princess." I smile. I don't say it to be superior to her now though, it's just her nickname now.
-
"Come with me."

I envy how Calum actually went for it. He went with her. They did it, we didn't.

"Yeah." I say strongly. I'm done being all weak with her.I never have been, and I don't know why I was.

ADRIA'S POINT OF VIEW

Memories of Luke calling me princess flood my mind. I'm still not sure if I like him, or the thrill of doing the wrong thing... But I want to kiss him so badly right now. I can't, though. Calum. Calum is my whole world, I don't care what happened or how they acted when I was in the hospital, because I don't need to. It's Calum, it always will be.

I think for the first time in my life, I don't know what to say, or do next. I've always had a comeback. This time, it's blank.

"I... Love Calum."

"I know." Luke nods. He doesn't whisper it, he doesn't say it sadly, or quietly, he just simply says 'I know.'

"S-So we agree. That whatever happened a week ago... Wasn't real. Or anything even close to meaning anything."

"Right." He shrugs. Like it's no big deal.

"Okay." I frown. I thought he'd have more of an opinion.

"Okay." He repeats.

LUKE'S POINT OF VIEW

"Well... Then... See ya Luke."She says, a little confused, and walks away.

"See ya later, princess." I say. She turns around, and smiles. I sigh and walk back home. This isn't perfect. Hell, when Calum finds out I'll be dead, but I mean. At least for now, she's still my friend, and it doesn't have to be weird between us. I mean except for the fact that for the rest of my life I'll love her, and she'll never know, but that's okay. I can TOTALLY live with that constant, never ending pain.
