'I think you guys should go out for dinner tonight. I mean in this way, both of you will get to know each other better, right?' Roy's sister suggested and quickly turned her head towards Roy, waiting for a response.

Roy immediately nodded his head and replied,' Of course, I uh ...know this amazing restaurant that provides excellent food and service. It is a bit far but it's absolutely awesome.' His eyes turned to me and my eyes met his ' What do you think, Evangeline?' he asked and smiled a little.

I smiled back and opened my mouth to simply REFUSE but before I could say anything my mom jumped in-

' Well of course she'll go with you,honey' she said and smirked at me,'who would refuse a dinner date with a handsome boy? I'm sure a girl who'll refuse this would be a big dummy!!'she laughed, looking at me with those threatening eyes that I must go or else…

'Pardon me for being a dummy' I stood up and said while looking at her face and then turning to Roy's sister,' but I really need to take some rest, it's been a long and exhausting day for me. I apologize.' I said before going upstairs to my room.

I knew my mother was gonna follow me because I DID took a glance at her angry face before going back to my room and now we are gonna argue about the whole 'refusing for the dinner scene'. And so I waited. tick tock! tick tock!

'What is the matter with you?' she shouted louder than usual while entering my room.

'Will you please lower your voice, mother?' I snapped and turned away from her but she got hold of my arm, swinging me around to face her.

'Just stop this nonsense, Eva!!' she shouted again and this time on my fucking face.

'Now,' she swallowed, letting go of my arm and taking a deep breath, 'you go tell that boy that you're going with him or else...'

'Or else what?!' I yelled 'that's enough! I'm tired of pretending!' tears formed in my eyes 'you're forcing me to marry a guy, I barely even know! Isn't that enough?!' Her eyes widened and I knew she was damn furious but she crossed to the door, locking it and she faced me again.

She sighed and said calmly, 'Eva, this is not a game. Our situation is ...is ' there was a good 5 second silence until she whispered,' ... is precarious. You know we don't own anything now.'

'Of course I know ,you remind me everyday!' I said with a hint of melancholy in my tone.

'Your father left us nothing but a legacy of bad debts hidden by a good name. And that name is the only card we have to play.' I could see tears forming in her eyes, she continued,' I don't understand you. It is a fine match with Roy , and it will insure our survival.' she turned away from me and walked towards the wardrobe.

'No!!' I yelled from the back,' you can't put this on my shoulders!?' I couldn't hide the sadness in my voice. Mother faced me again and I could see some kind of fear in her eyes,' Do you want to see me working as a waitress?Is that what you want?Do you want to see our fine things sold at an auction, our memories scattered to the winds? My God, Eva, how can you be so selfish?' she pleaded and let out cry but covered her mouth immediately cmon that's emotional blackmail

I wiped my tears away and whispered,'but that's so unfair!'. She walked towards me and her hands landed on my shoulder.

She took a deep breath and smiled at me, 'you're so precious to me, Evangeline' tears overpowered her speech.

'No mother,' I swallowed and pulled up my shoulders so that she would let of them,' money and jewels are precious to you!'.It pained me to say those words but that basically was the truth.

She frowned and got so furious that she slapped me and I fell to the ground. I froze where I fell, my heart literally dropped to my stomach, I could feel the tears on my cheek.

I stood up and faced her I saw a hint of shame on her face of hitting me, 'Eva' she mumbled. 'Don't Eva me!!' I yelled out loud,' I wish I never see you again!!'. I did not want to say those words but I partially meant them. I turned my back towards her and harshly rubbed my temples as I walked out of the room.

My eyes were filled with tears. I cried loudly as I ran towards the stairs, where am I gonna go? As I ran down from the stairs ,hurt and lost, I saw someone some distance away ,then I realized it was Roy.

He was surprised to see me like that. 'Oh my God!' he mumbled while looking at my hurt face.

Without saying a word, I ran up to him and collapsed into his arms, crying tears of hurt and pain on his shoulder, not planning to stop any time soon. His hands wrapped firmly around me as I slowed down my trying.

I honestly felt better! 'Are you okay, Eva?' he asked and I shook my head still completely hurt and unsure of what to do.

I realized that was the first time he said Eva instead of Evangeline!

I looked at him with my tearful eyes, our lips inches away, he wiped away my tears and I whispered, ' Please help me'.

'Take me far away from this place, please!' I pleaded as more tears fell from my eyes.

He kissed my forehead and said, 'alright' before wrapping his arms around me and carrying me to his car..
