Simon's Daughter

Chapter 37

(1 month later)
Julia’s POV:
I still haven’t called Niall, and he hasn’t called me. We obviously both loved each other still, but we were both afraid to say anything. The only person I’ve talked to out of the five of them was Liam. He always kept me updated about what they were doing and I told him about things down here in Los Angeles. We would Skype and Facetime sometimes, but not enough. A couple of times when we Skyped, I could hear the others in the background. I made up some lame excuse about leaving, but he said he understood.

“Hey, you ready to go?” Christa asked me. We had both decided to buy a house and live together. My father helped with the payments, of course. It might make me sound like a spoiled brat, but Christa and I still paid most of it.

“Yeah, just a second.” We decided we would go hang out with Matt. We’ve all become really close lately. Today we were just going to go to the park and hangout like friends do. I finished tying my shoes, and stood up, following Christa to the door (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=88969526).

“Matt said he’s already there, so we have to hurry!” Christa grabbed my wrist and rushed me out to the car.

About five minutes into the car ride, my phone started buzzing. I took it out of my pocket and checked the text. It was from Casey.

Casey: My flight back to LA leaves in about five minutes! I’ll call you when I land. :)
Me: Okie dokie! Can’t wait to see you again, love! :)

I was glad that Casey was coming back. I missed her so much! Maybe when she gets back she can start hanging out with Christa and Matt. As Christa pulled up to the parking lot, I could see Matt from a distance, sitting under a tree. I smiled as she parked the car and I got out immediately.

“Matt!” I yelled as I ran to him. He stood up laughing and caught me in his arms for a big hug.

“I miss you, Anne!” He joked, and I lightly hit him in the arm.

“”Hey, Matty.” Christa said, laughing. He hated when we called him that. He put me down, and then hugged Christa.

“’Sup Chrissy.” He said, smirking.

“Only Jules can call me that!” She said, gasping. We all shared a laugh, and then sat under the tree.

“So have you talked to Niall yet?” Matt asked me. The only people I told about Niall were Christa, Matt, and Liam. But Matt didn’t know about my night with Niall or Harry. Nobody knew about me and Harry. Well except, me and Harry of course.

“Nope, and I don’t plan on it. He’s probably moved on, or something. He deserves someone better anyways.” I shrugged my shoulders and leaned against the tree trunk.

“Jules, you don’t know that.” Christa said, sighing.

“Guys, it’s fine. He’s off in London, it doesn’t matter. If he really liked me back, then he would have called me. Trust me. I’m okay.” I forced a smile out and they just sighed.

Niall’s POV:
It’s been a month since Julia and I have spoken. I was afraid to call her because I thought she moved on. She had a right to, anyways. I know she said that she loved me too at the airport, but she could have just said that to not make me feel bad. I haven’t stopped thinking about her, but I tried because I’m sure by now she’s moved on.

“Hey, mate. You alright?” Liam said sitting down next to me. I sighed and decided to tell him. After all, he was like my brother.

“I still have feelings for Julia.” I said bluntly.

“What? No way!” Liam said sarcastically, chuckling at the end. I rolled my eyes but gave him a small grin. “So why haven’t you talked to her?” He asked me. I sighed and shrugged.

“I don’t know…I’m just nervous I guess. I’m sure she’s moved on by now. I mean, it’s been a month. Plus, with our busy schedules and what-not, I never have the time to even try and talk to her…” I trailed off at the end, and Liam pat my back lightly.

“I understand. Just take your time, okay?” He smiled at me, and then stood up to leave.

“Thanks Liam.” I said smiling weakly back at him.

“Anytime.” With that, he left the room and closed the door behind him. I sighed and lay back on my bed. I didn’t know what to do. But Liam was right. I did need to take my time. I can work my way up to finally talking to Julia. But I’d much rather do it in person. I just wasn’t sure when the next I would see her.

Julia’s POV:
After spending a few hours at the park, Matt had to go due to some school work and stuff. I decided to take a cab to the airport so I could see Casey finally arrive home. Christa decided she would just go home and wait. We allowed Casey to stay over for the night because it would be late by the time her plane landed. It was already starting to become dark outside, and it was drizzling. Before I called a cab my phone started to ring.

“Hello?” I asked. The number wasn’t familiar to me.

“Is this Julia Cowell?” The lady over the phone asked me.

“Yes, this is she.” I said, sounding a little concerned.

“Hello, I’m Patricia. Casey’s mother.” Her voice sounded so weak and saddened. “Casey is gone.”

Liam’s POV:
The lads and I were just about to start heading off to bed when my phone went off. I looked at the caller ID and quickly answered it.

“Hey, Jules.” They all knew I was still talking to Julia, and Niall didn’t have a problem with it. I heard her sobbing through the phone and rambling on about something I couldn’t understand because of her crying. “Wait, whoa, slow down. Julia are you alright?” Right after I said that, everyone turned to look at me with worried faces. My eyes widened when she told me about what happened to Casey. I knew there was something about that girl that I didn’t trust. She never stopped her anorexia. Julia told me everything; about how she still wasn’t eating and how Casey had taught her ways to show that she was looking better.

“I’m sorry, Liam. I’m so so so so so so so so sorry. I’m sorry. I didn’t know that this could be the outcome. I don’t wanna die. I’m sorry. I hurt all of you, and I was being so stupid. I’m so sorry…” Was all she could say. Hearing her like this almost made me start crying. I felt the tears starting to form in my eyes, but I tried my best to stay strong. For Julia’s sake.

“Jules, shh, don’t worry everything will be fine. Where are you?” I asked her.

“I’m at the park. I didn’t have the heart to even do anything. I just couldn’t stop crying.” She still wasn’t crying and by now I’m sure all the boys could see the single tear falling down my cheek.

“Where’s Christa? Haven’t you called her yet?” I asked starting to worry even more.

“She won’t answer her phone. I only called her three times.” She told me, her voice shaky.

“Okay, I’ll try to contact her, okay? Stay where you are. Isn’t it already around eight o’ clock over there? It’s dangerous to be alone, Jules.” I tried making sure she was safe, but my stern voice made it sound like I was lecturing her.

“No, don’t leave me. Please stay on the phone.” She began to cry again, and I wished I was there, to comfort her.

“Okay, I’ll have Louis call her, okay?” I told her, looking over at Louis. He nodded his head, and pulled out his phone quickly. He finished dialing her number and put the phone to her ear. After about two more tries, she finally answered.

“Hello?” Christa said through the phone.

“Christa, Julia is scared as hell. You haven’t answered your phone! She’s still at the park and she needs you to come get her.” Louis stuttered a bit, with panic in his voice.

“I’m sorry, it died! I just got home, but I’ll be there in a minute!” She said, and hung up. I was still on the phone with Julia, and she was shivering a little.

“Jules, don’t worry, Christa said she’d be there in a second, okay?” I assured her.

Julia’s POV:
I saw the familiar black car pull up on the sidewalk where I was sitting. Christa rolled down the window and had a very worried expression.

“L-Liam?” I said, sniffling.

“Yes, babe?” He answered back quickly.

“Christa is here. Thank you so much. I’ll talk to you later. I love you.” I said.

“You’re welcome, love. Love you too.” He said before hanging up. I sighed and got into the car with Liam. I loved Liam. As a brother of course, nothing else. Neither of us thought about each other in that way.

“I’m so sorry. Are you okay? What happened?” Christa asked, hugging me tightly.

“I’ll tell you when we get home.” I said quietly.
**
I woke up the next morning and didn’t get out of bed. I wasn’t in the mood. I didn’t feel like eating (not because of the whole anorexia thing), or talking, or doing anything. I told Christa everything last night. From not eating even after rehab, to Casey passing away. I told her I was sorry so many times, and she said it was okay. I knew she was still a little upset with me, but she comforted me all last night. It was already noon and I still lay in my bed staring up at the ceiling.

I heard a knock at the door and sighed. I didn’t want to see anyone or talk, so I didn’t answer. I guess Christa knew this, because she just came in after I didn’t say anything.

“Jules…someone wants to see you.” She said, but I didn’t move. I could hear some shuffling going on by the door, but I couldn’t see what was happening because I didn’t feel like looking. I then heard the door close and someone coming over to sit at the edge of my bed.

“Hey you.” Right when I heard his voice I felt the tears starting to form in my eyes. I sat up and quickly hugged him. It was Liam.

“Liam.” That’s all I could say. I didn’t know why he was here or when he arrived, but I was just happy to see him. He was probably the only person who could cheer me up right now. Christa was never good in these types of situations. She never knew what to say, and she was always nervous.

“How are you feeling?” He asked, feeling my head. Since last night, I started not feeling very well. I guess Christa had told him. There was this feeling in my stomach that just wouldn’t go away, and I just felt terrible.

“Miserable.” I said, leaning back and lying back down. I sighed, and he lay next to me. “What are you doing here? Where is everyone else?” I asked confused.

“I came to see you, of course. The others will be here tomorrow. I had to make sure you were okay.” He smiled at me, and I nuzzled my face into his neck. You might think this was weird but it wasn’t. He was just here to comfort me, because that’s what best friends do.

“Thank you. For everything.” I mumbled and smiled a little.

“Anything for you, Jules. That’s what friends are for.”
