Simon's Daughter

Chapter 16

Julia's POV:
"Julia...I miss you so much!" I smiled as I wrapped my arms around my mother. She kissed the top of my head, but then let go of the hug.

"Mum, where are you going?" I asked, tears forming in my eyes.

"I have to go now, but I need you to do something for me." She said. At that point the tears had spilled out and I couldn't stop them.

"What is it?" I could barely speak. I just wanted to stay in her arms forever.

"I need you to wake up now." I sighed. "Come on wake up....wake---"

"---up Julia! Come on get up!" I opened my eyes, seeing Christa standing in front of me, shaking me lightly. Oh. It was only a dream...

"I'm up." I moaned, rubbing my eyes.

" IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!" She waited a minute to yell that in my ear. Oh yeah, it's her birthday. With all that's been on my mind, I've totally forgotten. I looked over at my clock and it was seven AM. The past two weeks have been spring break for me, but it was time to go back to school. Great.

"Happy birthday, Chrissy." I smiled and she thanked me. I sat up and stretched going to the bathroom to take my shower. After I got out, Christa already picked something out for me to wear on my first day back to school...weirdo. (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=86652625).
After I finished getting ready, I walked downstairs to see Christa and my father in the kitchen. When he saw me, he immediately smiled, and I walked over to hug him.

"First day back to school!" I forced a smile, and nodded. When I walked to the kitchen, there was a plate of chocolate chip pancakes waiting for me. My favorite. It didn't take me long to devour the pancakes, and when I was finished, Christa drove me to school.

"Thanks Christa!" I said, smiling. I got out of the car and watched as she drove away. Well, here we go. Another joyous day of school. I walked into the treacherous building, waiting for the day to just be over. The same things happen everyday. I always get asked about One Direction. But since I actually started hanging out with them, I'm sure this will be a day like no other.

I walked into my first period class, and was pretty much mobbed by a bucnh of students. I could barely sit in my seat. To my relief, the teacher had 'shooed' everyone away, and I was alone. Well except for my partner next to me. Her name was Mary Anne. She was very quiet and only talked to me whenever we had to discuss things like lab results or whatever. That barely happened. I kind of felt bad for her. I don't know why I felt like this all of a sudden, but I just did. Mary Anne wasn't one of those popular girls. She didn't have many friends -something we had in common- but she wasn't bullied or anything. Just a normal, average, girl.

"Hi." I said to her. trying to make conversation. For some reason I knew today was her birthday. It was probably because a while back, the teacher has mentioned something about it I think. Whatever. All I knew was that it was her birthday.

"Hello. You know you're the only person at school who has actually said anythign to me?" I frowned as she spoke back to me. She slightly smiled back, then continued writing something in her notebook. Finally, the class had started, and it was just the beginning to a boring day at school.
~~~~~~~
During lunch, I tried my best to not be seen. I hated being asked to sit by people. I knew they didn't want anything to do with me. Just my father. I hated that. Nobody ever liked me for me. It had to be someone I was connected with. I spotted Mary Anne at her locker, so I walked up to her with a smile.
"Hey...I was wondering if you wanted to go out to lunch? My treat." I said. Since it was her birthday, I decided I would treat her to something nice. I knew we barely knew each other, but I could tell she needed a friend. So did I. Plus, I still felt bad seeing that Mary Anne had nobody to talk to. So maybe I could become that one person she could talk to.
"Really? I can pay if you want..." She said pulling out her wallet. I pushed it back, shaking my head.
"No, really. It's fine." I insisted and she shrugged her shoulders. She seemed really shy so it would probably take time to get to know her.
~~~~~~~
After lunch, Mary Anne and I had become a little closer. We knew a lot of things about each other and we talked the whole time at lunch. Surprisingly, she opened up to me and I liked it. Mary Anne was an only child, and her parents worked a lot so she didn't see them as much. Similar to my lifestyle. I'm glad Mary Anne and I were now friends. Especially because she never asked a single thing about One Direction or my dad.

"Okay, I'll text you after school!" She said, waving to me. She headed off in a different direction as me, and I walked to my next class. In my next class, all the teacher talked about was everyone's future which had me thinking. Halfway through the talk, I zoned out and thought about only my future. Honestly, I didn't know what I wanted to do. I always thought about college because well...I just did. I had one option in mind for a couple years now, and that was Stanford. I knew I had to get into Stanford. That was the only place I wanted to go. If I didn't get in, then I probably wouldn't go to college. Stupid right? Well that's just me.
~~~~~
As the final bell rang, I rushed out of the classroom, as if the world was ending. I hated that school and was glad I got to leave! The only good thing about it is that now I have a friend. Finally. I walked to the side of the building waiting for Christa to pick me up. I saw someone with blonde hair just leaning against his car. I looked more clearly and a smile grew on my face. I ran towards the car and saw Niall standing there waiting for me.
"NIALL!' I yelled jumping on him.
"Hey! Nobody can know I'm here. We'll both get mobbed." He laughed and opened my door for me. I got in, and buckled my seatbelt as he went around to get in.
"So why did you pick me up?" I asked him, putting my feet on the dashboard.
"Just thought I would surprise you." He smiled, shrugging his shoulders. I turned on the radio. A smirk appeared on my face as I heard the song come on. Niall groaned and frowned. I turned it up louder even though he begged me not to.
"Hey girl I'm waitin' on ya. I'm waitin' on ya. Come on and let me sneak you out." I sung, dancing stupidly.
"Please, stop. You're a terrible singer." He laughed and I gasped. I hit his arm playfully continuing to sing even though he made me miss a few lines.
"Yeah, we'll be doin' what we do, just pretendin' that we're cool. And we know it too. Yeah--" before I could finish, he changed the station. He started bobbing his head to the song and snapping. I laughed at how stupid he looked. He started to sing along to the song.
"Never had much faith in love or miracles. Never wanna put my heart on the line." He continued to sing as he drove back to my house. I rolled my eyes. I couldn't make a comment about him being a terrbile singer because he wasn't. Deciding to have some revenge, I clicked a different station and he gasped. I started to sing along again to new song.
"THIS GIRL IS ON FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRE!" I tried to belt it out but I ended up laughing instead. Niall laughed at me, and not with me. But I flicked his head so he stopped. For the last time, Niall changed the song. I decided not to change it because I actually liked the song that was playing.
"I love the way you make me feel. I love it, I love it." He sang in a girly voice. I laughed at him, and he continued. But this time he sang the song like he meant it. "You got my heart don't know how you did it." He sang. I looked at him, but his eyes were glued to the road. Did he really mean it? That's how I sort of felt with Niall. He did have my heart, and I could finally admitted it.
"Niall?" I asked him, with my heart beating rapidly.
"Yes?" He asked, as the song ended.
"I..." I couldn't finish the last part of what I wanted to say. I was too nervous. But I had to tell him that I liked him. It's better to share your feelings rather than hide them.
"You what?" He asked, giving me look as to continue what I wanted to say.
"I-I like you." I said, just waiting to hear him laugh in my face. He looked at me, raising his eyebrows.
"Well I---" I cut him off, immediately.
"NIALL!" I screamed, pointing to a car coming directly at us. Before I knew it, I felt my eyes blacking out in front of me, and my body had no feeling.
Notes
I just wanted to give more detail about Julia's school life, so I did. Yeah, that was pretty self-explanatory. It might seem random now, but trust me. It will be better understood later.
