The Love Behind Everything Else
I'm Here Now
(Elizabeth's POV)
The tour finally ended, a few days into November. It had gotten quite chilly, but it was great to be relieved from all the tiredness of touring.
I walked along the street, passing beautifully lighted stores, putting up different things for the holiday season.
I let out a long sigh as I walked into a nearby cafe; the warmth inside felt welcoming. I felt as if it had been years since I last took time out for myself.
I went to order a drink for myself, I was quickly recognized by a woman about my age behind the counter.
"Your Elizabeth, right?" she asked, rather stated. I nodded smiling. "I was at one of your concerts and I was mind blown! You are awesome!" she squealed.
"Aww, thank you so much! It's amazing to be able to meet you!" I exclaimed, grinning.
"Oh my god! You're so nice! Uh, may I get an autograph?" she inquired. "Sure why not?" I replied.
She smiled sweetly before ducking down and grabbing a notepad and a marker.
"What's your name?" I questioned as I signed the paper. "Becky." she answered politely, putting my coffee on the counter.
I nodded and wrote a little message for her. I looked up, handing her the notepad and marker along with the money for my drink.
"Thank you for your time!" Becky exclaimed happily. I smiled leaning over the counter and pulling her into a hug.
"Stay safe, Becky!" I called as I headed out of the cafe.
I noticed it had gotten much darker and colder so I thought it was best to head on home now.
I sipped my coffee along the way, finishing it before turning a corner. I threw the cup in garbage can and continued walking. Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I took it out to see Alexia's name flashing on the screen.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked. "What's up?! Where are you!? It's already dark and your not home yet!" You could get lost!" she shouted through the phone.
"Come on, relax! I'm about a street away from the house. Oh and I'm not a kid! I know my way around here." I objected.
"Whatever, just hurry up. I've got a surprise for you! Well 75% of the surprise to be exact." Alexia rambled before ending the call.
What was she talking about? What surprise? It wasn't any special day today, so what could it be? As I thought about what was going on, I not knowingly bumped into someone. It was quite a force because I fell down, hitting the pavement.
"Oh my god! I am really sorry! Are you alright? Oh god! Here, I'll help you up." a familiar Irish accent rang through my ears.
"Niall?" I asked, squinting my eyes in the dimly lighted street.
"Elizabeth? Is it you?" he inquired, concern in his tone. "Yeah, it's me." I replied, jumping towards him, pulling him into a hug.
For a moment all my tiredness, my thoughts, everything was pushed aside. I focused solely on Niall, breathing in his cologne as I buried my face in his neck. As I held on to him tighter, I felt tears forming up in my eyes, slowly sliding down my cheeks.
"Liz, what's wrong? Why are you crying? Are you hurt from the fall?" Niall pulled back, staring into my eyes.
"No, everything's fine, it's just that... I've missed you. I've missed you a lot." I choked out, not wanting to sound childish.
"It's alright. I'm here now, I'll always be here. Nothing to worry about." he hushed, pulling away a strand of hair and tucking it behind my ear.
He gently put a hand under my chin, slowly pulling my face upwards. He moved closer, so close that we could feel each other's breath.
"I love you, Elizabeth." Niall whispered.
