Long Way Down

Chapter thirty four- “Sometimes it’s better not to say anything.”

-Sam

When I wake up, strangely, I hear a bunch of whispering. I don’t open my eyes because I take a guess and say the boys are in the room talking.

‘everything is handled?’

‘what all happened?’

‘he wasn’t moving when we got there’

‘did he say anything?’

‘I see’

I couldn’t make out everything they were saying because I was laying on one of my ears, so I rolled over on my backside. As soon as I started moving they stopped talking about the things I wanted to hear.

‘is she awake?’

‘yeah’

‘no she isn’t.’

‘Louis is right, she is still asleep’

‘alright, anyway, did anyone see yall?’

Not surprisingly, with my luck I felt a sneeze coming on. I tried to hold my breath to make it easier to hold in but I need to pinch my nose to make it completely silent; that wasn’t an option though because I had no clue where the boys where standing and if they were facing me or not.

“Ah, Ah, choo.”

The sneeze is of course as loud as anything and the boys stop talking once again.

‘she is awake.’

‘no, we are still good.’

“Sam!”

I still don’t move as Niall yells my name but I can tell that sneeze cost me.

‘shut the hell up! You’re gonna wake her!’

“She already is awake.” That was Zayn.

I can hear Harry clearly getting frustrated, ‘no she isn’t.’

Zayn laughs, “Sam, get up. I know you are faking because it isn’t possible for someone to sneeze while they are asleep.”

I hear footsteps near me and I open my eyes. It’s Zayn. Imagine that. I sit up and roll my eyes.

Harry crosses his arms and walks to me.

“Boys, can we have a few minutes?”

The boys leave the room silently and Harry comes over to me and sits beside me on the bed.

“What did you hear?”

“Nothing really, just you asking questions- at least I think it was you.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. The boys are quiet whispers.”

“Hmmm, I guess I should start being quieter.”

I lean forward and then turn around and move onto Harry’s lap so I’m straddling him.

“Harry.”

His hands make their way to rest on my hips. “Yes, love?”

“What happened to Liam.”

“I knew you coming on to me like this wasn’t luck. You just want to be nosey.” He rolled his eyes.

“Harrrrryyyyy. Please? Just tell me if I killed him or not.”

Harry moved my legs off of him and stood up, making me fall into the bed. He pushed the hair out of his face and faced me.

“No.”

And with that syllable, he left the room and left me alone to my thoughts.

-Harry

I didn’t have the heart, or guts to tell Sam she killed Liam.

By the time the boys got there and Louis could check him blood was surrounding his body- well his head to be more specific.

I can only imagine the damage Sam might do to herself physically and mentally if she knew she killed him.

The boys took his body down to the beach and threw it into the large bond fire pit the college kids always use during parties.

Zayn said Niall couldn’t set him on fire so he left and Lou was trying not to cry apparently, so Zayn “lit him the fuck up without any good byes” – according to Lou.

Liam will be missed but I can’t even think of what I would have done if he was alive right now.

I get out of my thoughts and head down stairs.

“Hey, did yall get the messed cleaned up last night?”

“No, his blood stained the carpet throughout the house because we couldn’t carry his big ass and no-“

Niall quickly cut Louis off, “And now, we are gonna go burn her house down to get rid of the evidence for good.”

Lou threw Zayn a lighter and rolled his eyes at Nialls dramatic-ness.

“We will be back, is there anything we should get out the house?”

I start to say no, but remember her court stuff, “Look for some like court papers- from when she became her own adult, mail, and bills.”

“Alright, will do, we will be back in a little while.”

“See ya.”

I grab a water out of the fridge and head back up stairs to Sam. I walk into the room and Sam is back in the bed.

“Hey, where’d the boys go?”

“Turn the news on, you’ll find out soon enough.”

Sam’s face grows in confusion, “What?”

I slide back under the covers and get comfortable because I know that in a short amount of time every headline on t.v/ will be about the fire and photos of Sam’s house in flames.
