What A Feeling

“B”? He calls me “B”. No one has ever called me “B”. Yet when he yelled that earlier to get my attention, I turned around without hesitation. That’s weird. What the hell is wrong with—
“Is this seat taken?”
Becca’s thoughts interrupted, she turns her head in the direction of that charming voice. Her eyes first landing on a pair of jean clad knees, then moving up an attractive fit body, finally meeting the most beautiful blue eyes she’s ever seen.
“Niall, no, please sit.”
He smiles, looking directly into her eyes, then looking out at the game.
“These are great seats.”
Becca grins. “They’re good, but honestly I’d rather sit out on the pitch, if they’d let me.”
Niall laughs. “I’d quite like that too.”
Becca looks out at the game being played, yet she can feel Niall’s eyes on her.
“Why do you sit down here, rather than in the press box with the other reporters?”
“I prefer to be close to the action.” Becca replies.
“I read some of your articles last night. You are very talented.”
“Thank you. Which ones did you read?”
Niall blushes. “All of them.”
Becca laughs. “Really? That must have taken a while.”
“All night.”
“Wow, you must be tired. I hope you don’t fall asleep on me at the pub.” She teases.
“No, you’re far too exciting for that.”
Now it’s Becca’s turn to blush.

They have a long conversation about some of the best footballers. Niall tells her all about the Derby games he attended when he was younger. She in turn shares stories of attending baseball games as far back as she can remember.
“So the love of sports has been around for a long time?” Niall asks.
Becca grins. “Yes, a few special people in my life introduced me to sports at a young age.”
“And you loved it so much, you made it your career.”
Looking out at the game, Becca replies. “Yes. There’s nothing quite as amazing as attending a sporting event. Watching on TV is ok, but nothing compares to the magic of actually being there.”
Niall grins. “I couldn’t have said it better myself.”

During halftime, while Becca makes some notes, Niall disappears.
He returns a short time later, handing Becca a beer, then placing his own in its cupholder.
“Thank you, Niall.”
He grins. “I got you a surprise too. I took you as a hot pretzel kind of girl. I hope I didn’t guess wrong.”
She laughs as she takes the large pretzel from him. “No, I love them, I just can’t eat all of this. You’ll have to help me.”
Niall laughs. “Not a problem, I never turn down food.”
“Really? Well, I’m going to start giving you half of all my meals, it will be a great diet for me.” Becca laughs.
“Oh, so you plan on having me around for all your meals? I like the sound of that; especially breakfast.” Niall winks.
Becca blushes, her entire body heating up.
Just when she’s cooled down a bit, they both reach for the pretzel at the same time. Their hands touch, creating an inevitable spark that they both obviously feel.
Niall looks in her eyes, smiling sweetly. He hands her a piece of the pretzel, before taking a piece for himself.
She feels her heart do a flip.
Stop it, just stop it heart. She thinks.
