I can't believe what I'm hearing. The only thing that's keeping my mouth from hitting the floor is my brain trying to register what I just head.
"What did you say?" I ask him in disbelief
"I love you, always have, always will." - M
"Ok I know what you're trying to do here, and it isn't gonna work. You are feeding me lies right now because you know that I'm finally in a good place and you wanna fuck it up." - E
"Ella I'm being serious. It's different now. I'm different. I wish you would just give me a chance." - M
"I waited for you for almost 3 fucking years! I cried and cried and cried for days hoping you would come back but you didn't! I loved you so much...until I met him." - E
It's taking every fiber of my being to not cry right now.
"So your telling me you have no feelings for me at all?" - M
"Yes." I say confidentally but my subconscious tells me I'm lying. I stare back at his broken expression and a part of me wishes I didn't say it.
"Oh...so I guess it's really over then? There's no chance I can change your mind?" - M
"Yeah...I really hope we can still be"
"Don't say friends." He interrupts me.
"Ok well I guess we'll just be nothing then which is nothing different than the last 3 years." - E
"I guess your right." - M
"Goodbye Matthew." - E
"Bye Ella." - M
When I get out of the car I turn around to get one last look at this boy I once loved. His face is almost lifeless now. This is a conversation we had to have. I'm glad we are officially done. This is the closure I needed. Now I can go back to acting like he never existed. This whole experience made me love Liam anymore and remind me to never take him for granted. He is perfect and I wouldn't trade him for the world. Lets hope he doesn't hate me after I tell him about this outing with my ex. I'm gonna tell him sooner rather than later, it's just a matter of when.
